Chapter 989 The Healer
Lee Seng was in constant pain riding the cruiser to the hospital. The government officials, Biohuman Operative Specialists (BOS), had separated him from his friends and were taking him to Capitol City's best hospital for treatment. Captain Harvey Frank was accompanying him with at least six more cruisers full of BOS government operatives.
Everything came and went like a blur. Lee Seng was tested on his burnt-out DM nerves and constantly watched 24/7. Anyone who came in and out was always on the BOS's list. They were checked coming in and coming out. They weren't taking any chances with Lee Seng. Specialists were flown in from all around the world to see if they could heal Lee Seng back to his healthy self. In between all of this, Captain Frank asked questions.
"Where is your father?" "What are these Failed Ones?" "What experiments were done to them?" "What are these other experiments?"
The questions went on for months with the same answers. Lee Seng didn't lie to them. He just wanted everything to stop. It wasn't until an African Healer from South Africa appeared that Lee Seng could finally not be in pain.
"This is severe nerve damage to his DM nerves." The healer observed. "These black spots aren't indications that someone has harmed him enough to damage his nerves. It looks like his body took the hit for what he did."
"You're saying he afflicted this onto himself?" The BOS officer asked. The healer nodded and looked up at Lee Seng.
"Tell me, Mr. Chang, do you know how you did this?"
Lee Seng thought for a moment. He couldn't remember how it happened. Lee Seng shook his head and replied, "No, I don't. I was fighting. I passed out afterwards. I didn't hurt myself at all."
"You said you were fighting a Failed One, right?" The BOS officer asked. Lee Seng nodded. "Do you think adrenaline could've made you not notice?"
"It could very much be a possibility, Mr. Chang." The healer spoke up. They pointed at the black spot on Lee Seng's stomach. "I've seen my fair share of nerve damage before and it has never manifested like this. This resembles burn marks. If I am remembering correctly, you don't really have that kind of power, right?"
"Technically, not from any Biohuman means." Lee Seng nodded.
"What do you mean by that?"
"We didn't inform you of this on any of the confidential notes given to you beforehand, healer." The BOS office cleared their throat. "It has been revealed Lee Seng has some sort of genetic mutation that gives him the form you see in front of you. The tails, the ears, they come with their own separate abilities and magic."
"Interesting. Have you found the reason why?"
"No, he won't tell us that part."
"It's not important." Lee Seng spoke up. "But yes, because of my Fox form, I… can conjure fire." The healer nodded and stood up from their seat.
"I believe that could be the reason. I think I have a solution to our problem. I will need you to give me some stuff so I can heal Mr. Chang." The healer spoke to the officer.
"Alright, what is it?" The officer asked. A notification came to them with a list of things needed. The officer opened it and silently looked through the list. "This will… take a while to get, healer."
"It is fine. In the meantime, I will need my stones to prepare Mr. Chang for the healing."
"I will have one of the officers lead you to your things and come back with you while I gather these things."
The healer came back twenty minutes later with another BOS officer. The healer set down a large suitcase onto a table and opened it. They pulled out some clear orbs and turned to Lee Seng. "Mr. Chang, please lie on the table. I am going to put these orbs onto your body and start working on your DM nerve system."
Lee Seng nodded and slowly stood up from his seat and moved over to the table. He laid down on it and watched the healer let go of the balls in specific areas. The balls floated and the healer lifted their arms up.
"We're going to untense your body. There must be a lot of tense muscles. This will make it easier for your DM to flow when we start the soaking bath." The healer explained. They began their work on untensing Lee Seng's muscles. Lee Seng squirmed in pain. He could feel his body quickly relaxing.
"W-what's going on…?" Lee Seng whispered. "I feel… sleepy."
"It's because of my ability. I can release relaxing stimulants that will allow me to work with someone's body. With these stimulants, I can map out your nerves and fix it accordingly… It does look like your nerves have been badly burnt. There's some places where there's high damage but the soak should revitalize your body causing your self-healing properties to kick in."
A knock came to the door and the familiar BOS officer stepped in. "I've prepared all of the ingredients. Whenever you're ready, we can bring him to it." The officer informed the healer. The healer nodded and continued her work on Lee Seng.
Eventually, Lee Seng was transported to the pool. They moved him over to a tub sitting on the pool floor. Lee Seng was slowly submerged into the tub with strange herbs and salts mixed into the cold water.
"OH MY GOD! IT'S SO COLD!" Lee Seng shouted. He tightened his jaw and squeezed his eyes shut. The healer moved over to the tub and hovered their hands over the tub. They began to light it up in relaxing stimulants, turning the cold water to warm. Lee Seng's shivers drifted away, quickly turning hot. "HOT!"
"You need to stay in the bath for three hours." The healer instructed. Lee Seng pushed himself up and the officer pushed him back down into the bath.
"Stay." The officer ordered. He kept his hands on Lee Seng's shoulders, not feeling anything.
"It's so… Oh my god it's cold again!" Lee seng squirmed. This went on for three hours and by the end of it, Lee Seng was sitting in water that smelt of fire.
[Dark Matter Nerves have been restored. Self-healing is back online. Self-healing starts now.]
Lee Seng let out a sigh of relief and leaned his head into the officer. The officer glared at him as Lee Seng felt his body piece itself back together. He looked over to the healer and nodded at her.
"I think it worked. I can feel myself healing." Lee Seng slowly stood up and revealed his burn was disappearing.
"Magnificent." The healer nodded. "If I didn't know any better, I'd assume your healing is your power. You heal at a fast rate! The damage is all disappearing!"
"This is totally gonna leave some scars." Lee Seng groaned. "Can I get out?"
"After your body fully heals, you may leave the bath."
"It smells like fire. It's starting to burn my nostrils." Lee Seng stirred the water with his tails, impatient. After his body had fully healed, he stood up and let the dark water spill from his body.
'System, how am I now?' Lee Seng asked.
[Fully operational. Energy levels are lower than usual.]
'That's fine for now. All of the DM energy must've been used to keep me alive.' LEe Seng stepped out of the tub and looked at a towel.
"Can you… never mind, I'll get it myself." Lee Seng watched the towel fly to him. The two officers pulled their weapons out and pointed it at Lee Seng. Lee Seng began to dry himself off, looking at the officers like they were insane. "What? You're scared I'm going to run away? We've solved one problem. The next one is my dad's, right?"
"Well… yes, but we should—" BOS officer one started to say when Lee Seng turned and looked at them.
"Who do I need to convince to hold a conference?"
The BOS officer quickly sent a message and got an instant reply back. He looked at Lee Seng, who was stretching his body and replied, "The Captain's coming. You should look appropriate for him." He looked at the healer. "We thank you for your help in restoring Chang back to full health. We'll have officers lead you back to your hotel. Please enjoy the rest of your time on us."
"I really would like to study Mr. Chang more if he wouldn't mind. I've never seen someone of his caliber before. Fox ears, fox tails, rapid healing with minimal scarring leftover? He'll certainly be a Biohuman that will leave a long lasting impression in global history!" Said the healer.
"I'm afraid that won't be possible until our investigation is over. If Chang is supposedly not guilty, you can get into contact with him yourself."
"Well, I'll have one of your men leave my info with Mr. Chang." The healer nodded. "Mr. Chang, please call me whether you're in jail or not. I would love to figure out what you are."
"We'll see about that." Lee Seng smiled. "Thank you for patching me up. You're the first healer I'm hearing of that can restore nerves with a simple bath concoction."
"Oh, it may be a concoction in your eyes, but when it's mixed with my power, it's something so much more."
"C'mon, Chang, the Captain's on his way." BOS Officer one motioned Lee Seng toward the doors. "Go rinse yourself off. You smell. Clothes will be provided for you after you're done."
