Chapter 19: The Six
Chapter 19: The Six
Raven stood in the center of the floating arena, surrounded from all sides and the attacks kept coming.
Fortunately, because of fighting with the Ice Wolves who were known for their speed, his reflexes had improved to a large extent. He had also leveled up in the meantime, which made him even more adept at reaction to the sudden changes in the situation.
Moreover, if it wasn't for the treasures he possessed, like his robe, his defense would've been quite weaker.
Raven skillfully dodged every blow and retaliated with his own attacks, his focus unwavering despite the chaos around him.
He knew he first had to deal with the Illusion Master, who kept hurting him the most.
Even though he had destroyed some of the Illusions, Illusion Master Qerik created even more. Once again, there were ten Qerik around him.
Raven clenched his fist, wiping the blood off his lips.
He has had enough of being pushed back. He was trying to save some of his strength to face Arze and the others, who were yet to move. However, he knew he couldn't do that anymore.
He applied more of his strength. The Nameless Sword once again started rising in a blood red shine. He swung his sword, slashing every Qerik, whether be an illusion or the real one.
A blood red arc created a circle with Raven at the center of it, cutting everything who was close to him in two halves.
All ten Qerik were hit by the attack. Even some other players were hit by the sudden attack, dying right there. However, to Raven's surprise, none of the ten Qerik was real.
"All ten of them were fake?!" Raven exclaimed. "But then the real one must be..."
He hastily looked up, finding Qerik high in the sky. Demon like wings were behind his back. It was as if he had already prepared for an attack. However, even he seemed somewhat surprised that Raven had dealt with his puppet.
Raven was taken aback, watching a blinding sphere of Demonic Energy coming straight to him. Even though he had used most of his strength, he used every last bit he had, swinging his sword once more.
At the same time, he tapped his foot on the ground, jumping high in the sky.
He swung his sword as his body passed through the dark energy sphere. He could feel his skin burning due to the Demonic Energy, even as his sword sliced through the dark sphere.
Burn marks were clearly visible on his skin, as he accumulated damage. However, he soon passed through the dark sphere, appearing as if he was flying.
Raven's face appeared somewhat pale, as he appeared right before Qerik, who was taken aback. Before he could even react, a Sword stabbed through his chest, making him stunned.
His eyes were blank as he looked down. His chest was bleeding and his body started disappearing. However, the man didn't reveal anger. Instead, he revealed a smirk. It was as if he was someone who more enjoyed the battle than the result.
Raven pulled the sword out before Qerik disappeared, landing on the ground. Now that the biggest headache was out, he could relax a little.
However, he knew that was only temporary since the top rankers still hadn't joined. He was also getting exhausted since there was no break during the battles.
"If it wasn't for the Ring of Recovery, the battle might've been over already. I can't use too much strength anymore. I need to recover first..." Raven glanced at Arze and the others, who were still not getting involved.
For the next half an hour, he didn't make any big moves, as if he had realized that as long as he didn't defeat the current batch of enemies, the rankers weren't going to come forward.
He took the time to recover his strength, while focusing on avoiding the attacks which weren't very threatening to him.
Fortunately, it didn't take long for him to recover his energy.
One of the players charged forward, his fists glowing with energy. He was getting frustrated that Raven kept avoiding him.
However, this time he didn't quite do that.Raven sidestepped the attack and responded with a quick slice of his sword, sending the player stumbling back. A deep wound was left in his chest, which made him disappear as well.
Another player, a small woman with a pair of daggers, darted towards him. Raven met her head-on, his sword clashing against her blades.
As the battle raged on, Raven proved to be a skilled fighter, deflecting attacks with ease and landing his own strikes with deadly accuracy, killing the girl without spending much energy.
A player with the power of ice magic sent a flurry of icicles towards him, but Raven used his sword to deflect them back towards the player, freezing him solid.
Another player, a woman with the ability to control plant life, sent vines towards Raven, but he cut through them with his sword. He charged towards her, his sword at the ready, and landed a blow, sending her crashing to the ground.
As more and more players attacked, Raven's skill was put to the test.
However, in the end, he managed to kill almost everyone, leaving only six players!
Amongst the six, five of them were top five rankers, from all five Overlord species. Arze was Draconian. Izia was the Archangel who had a hand in Weiss' death. Zezel was a Demion. Tricia was a Triton, while Weiss was a human.
However, the sixth person here was the mage that Raven had seen in the vision with his brother. She was Rank Ten in Bloodline Trials, Celia.
All six rankers gazed at Raven with curiosity, as well as interest. It was as if it was rare for a person to achieve what Raven did. More often than not, they didn't even have to move and the new challengers were out.
However, unlike them, Raven's gaze was different. Amongst the six people that he had to face, three were people he hated the most while one was someone that he loved the most in this world.
