Chapter 7
C7 – Miraculous Bone Tempering!
Pei Yu, blessed with a hundredfold talent, didn’t allow himself to become complacent. Instead, he set out to temper his bones.
Given that his extraordinary talent could enhance his cultivation level, it stood to reason that it would also accelerate the bone-tempering process.
Bone tempering is considered the foundation of a martial artist’s training. While combat value is a metric for gauging a martial artist’s level, the extent of bone tempering signifies their potential.
Even First Grade martial artists with solid foundations could temper over ten bones.
Then there were the impatient martial artists lacking a strong foundation. They might reach a critical combat strength, yet their bone tempering remained neglected.
Such martial artists were all show and no substance, often possessing meager combat prowess.
In a clash between two equally cultivated opponents, victory would invariably go to the one with more tempered bones.
Pei Yu had witnessed countless such warriors. He knew that as one ascended in realm, bone tempering became increasingly challenging. Most would alternate between bone tempering and combat value cultivation, seeking a balanced advancement.
After much contemplation, Pei Yu had an epiphany. He dedicated an entire afternoon to bone tempering, following the techniques laid out in “Hundred Refined To Be A God.”
The tome was a perfect fit for him.
True to the book’s methods, his body underwent a transformation.
Previously, he had never tempered his bones, which left him vulnerable.
But now, a dramatic shift was taking place. Utilizing the insights from his hundredfold talent, he began to fortify his bones.
Pei Yu sensed a crackling within his bones, as though his weight was incrementally increasing.
From his arms to his neck, from his ribs to his back, the bones in his upper body were growing more robust. A soothing warmth enveloped them.
This warmth coursed through his bones, leaving them feeling as if coated with a layer of molten iron, adding to their heft.
A resounding crack signaled the completion of the process. The iron cells had integrated into his bones, reinforcing them continuously.
A special substance within his bones sprang to life, akin to bamboo shoots after spring rain, flooding Pei Yu with an indescribable comfort. His body had undergone a significant transformation.
Pei Yu only opened his eyes once the transformation and the extraordinary sensation had fully ceased.
While others required a minimum of three to five days to temper a single bone, those less gifted could manage to temper only one or two bones in a month.
Yet, Pei Yu had completed the bone tempering process in less than half a day.
Glancing at the wall clock, he noted it was eleven at night.
“The Hundredfold Talent is truly remarkable. I knew my comprehension had improved, but I never anticipated such a significant increase in my tempering capabilities.”
Pei Yu smiled to himself. His initial goal was to finish honing the bones of his upper body within a month, expecting it to take between ten days to a fortnight.
The reality, however, was that he had resolved the issue in just one afternoon, a result that had caught him off guard.
Still, faster was always better than slower.
Clenching his fists, Pei Yu heard the crackling of his bones, now feeling more powerful and robust than ever.
It was as though he was donning an invisible suit of armor, an unfamiliar sensation he was still adjusting to.
Having honed all 32 bones in his upper body, he knew that in any future encounters with peers of the same level, he could vanquish them in an instant.
Effectively, his physical prowess had doubled.
Imagine two Middle-Level First Grade martial artists, each with a combat value of 1000, in combat. The one who had honed his bones could effortlessly punch through a wall, while the other, lacking the same refinement, would experience pain from the impact due to his absence of defense.
If “Hundred Refined To Be A God” were likened to the foundation of a skyscraper, then the system’s gift of Hundredfold Talent was akin to a diligent construction worker!
Pei Yu mused that his future readings of platinum novels might lead to instantaneous epiphanies!
“The medical bills for my sister’s treatment will exceed a million yuan. I need to make money, or I won’t even have enough for tomorrow’s meals.”
Eager to gauge his newfound strength post-bone honing, Pei Yu pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
