Chapter 2916 - Absolute Godslayer

Weisheng Xu was more than two thousand years younger than Meng Ying, making them among the younger generation of wonderians. They were at the twelfth level of the Cosmic Cartography stage, and it had been that way for a long time.

A thousand years ago, they had achieved full infinitum-class divine wonders and were said to be able to become a foundationeer at any moment. Yet, perhaps because of a moment of impatience that caused them to lose control, they were unable to take the final step through their bottleneck and had never succeeded in making the breakthrough. Even so, two infinitum-class divine wonders had easily made them second to only Meng Ying and stronger than all non-foundationeers.

When Meng Ying's ephemeral world wonder had appeared, it’d been clear to Weisheng Xu that it was only a ruse by those who’d killed him. That didn't stop them from feeling nervous when they delivered his previous proclamation. They stared at Demoness Yin and Mister Taihe as they forced their emotions to calm down.

Unlike Meng Ying, who had forcefully extended their lifespan, Weisheng Xu seemed much more stable and cautious. There was a substantial part of the wonderian population that didn't wish to fight this war. As such, many of them stood out to represent their own groups to express their opinions on the matter.

"Since misfortune has befallen Rex Mundi Meng Ying, we have to renegotiate what we’re going to do. With the real killer still unknown, it’ll be risky for us to attack without any consideration."

"That's right! Vengeance can't be rushed."

"Quite a few of us have already left the astralguard formation! It isn't wise to ask them to descend again."

"Fengqing Youyun, I know you’re grieving for your parents, but this is a time of crisis for the Skydome Mundus as well."

The wonderian seniors wielded significant authority, and their every word made Fengqing Youyun's expression sour. The death of both his parents was driving his desire to destroy the Sky Palace Formation through the roof.

"Weisheng Xu! First, my mother died at Lin Xiaodao's hands. That’s already been proven. After that, apart from Mister Taihe and Rex Mundi Demoness Yin, the only other foundationeer here is Lin Xiaodao. The proof is concrete—what’re you doubting? Not to mention, we need enough people to work with Mister Taihe's Starshatter Formation to fight the Sun. You only have to help out a little for us to be able to deal with our enemies, so why not just do that? If we retreat now, all our efforts from before would've been wasted! Then our sacrifice would've been in vain, and we'd have been utterly humiliated!" Fengqing Youyun reasoned.

Weisheng Xu gave him a look before turning to Demoness Yin and Mister Taihe. "We elders will discuss the details with the two esteemed masters over there. We don't need a junior like you telling the rest of us here what to do."

Fengqing Youyun was stunned; it was clear that the seniors on Weisheng Xu's side didn't intend to let him get involved in the matter, especially not when he didn't even have his other half with him. Considering how he had been siding with Demoness Yin and the rest this entire time, there was a good chance that he’d been compromised.

All the other wonderian elders began discussing the matter with Weisheng Xu within a closed formation.

"Rex Mundi Demoness Yin..." Fengqing Youyun sounded rather apologetic.

"There's no rush," she said, smiling as if everything was proceeding as she had predicted.

Eventually, the wonderian elders finished their discussion. Weisheng Xu stood out and addressed Demoness Yin and Mister Taihe. "As our rex mundi has just passed away, we have no idea about the details of the agreement that he made with the two of you. For the safety of our people, we’ve decided to stay put here without making any troop movements until we figure out the details."

Meng Ying had sealed off all information about Moran, so the elders wanted to make Demoness Yin and the others reveal what was going on. However, Shenxi Xingtian was the only other person to know about her; Meng Ying hadn't revealed anything about her to Mister Taihe and Demoness Yin, having wanted to secretly apprehend her without letting them know.

Demoness Yin's luscious, red lips curved into a smile. "Are you trying to buy time while you inform the rest of the wonderians to have them deal with matters here?" She hadn't broadcast her words to everyone. Not even Fengqing Youyun had heard her, despite being right beside her and seeing her lips move. Weisheng Xu were the only ones who could hear it.

Having been figured out, their expression changed. They did seem much more grounded than Meng Ying. They didn't want to take over any of Meng Ying's obligations or responsibilities and preferred to have their main forces back home deal with this problem. Weisheng Xu weren't nervous at all, since they had the backing of their people. The divine wonderians feared nobody in the astralscape, not even Myriadpath Valley.

Demoness Yin was the strongest of the godshades and their hidden rex mundi. She could appear and vanish at will, making her the ultimate godslayer in the shadows! Someone of her status did make Weisheng Xu think twice, but they still held a confident belief.

Not even the rex mundi of Intrepidus would dare to take action against us when everyone else is watching. That thought flashed through their minds for an instant. Right after that, they felt a fatal threat encompass their body. It was the sensation of a foundation fortress! The foundation fortress that belonged to the strongest godshade descended upon them, having manifested out of thin air. It didn't look too big, and couldn't even be touched by those around it, yet it managed to press down on the Weisheng couple.

"How dare you?! Impudence!" Enraged, they activated their infinitum-class divine wonders.

"You're as slow as a tortoise."

The couple felt chills from hearing the cold whisper right by their ears. "Where is she?!"
