Chapter 72 - 72 A Private Meeting With The Mayor
72 A Private Meeting With The Mayor
“Second Master... Second Master, wake up!”
The butler, bringing the two teenagers with him, had his Little Bears come to Lear’s side with a cup of hot tea. Beside him, a Little Bear covered its nose with one hand and grabbed onto Lear’s pants with the other, shaking him continuously.
As the Little Bear rocked back and forth, Lear blinked his eyes. His mind seemed to be clearer than before. In front of him, Shen Fei suddenly looked wide and hard, and the whole world became crystal clear.
“Huh?!”
Lear suddenly let go. What he had been holding on to tightly was not Shen Fei, but a broken pillar!
“Second Master, are you more awake now?” The Butler eagerly handed him a cup of warm tea.
Lear frowned and looked around in confusion. “Is it over already?”
The butler nodded his head decisively and handed the cup of tea to Lear again. “Quickly, drink this cup of hot tea. I feel that the poison you were exposed to was not a light amount. I’m afraid that you have not fully recovered your consciousness yet.”
“Where’s my spirit beast?” Lear looked around suspiciously. Normally, the Dissolving Beast would stay obediently by his side. Why was it that he could not even see a trace of its shadow in the area?
“Ahem.” The butler cleared his throat, pretended to look very sad, and bowed to Lear. “Your spirit beast has already...” The butler glanced at the puddle of mud on the ground. “You have my condolences. Once you’re done grieving, you could raise a better spirit beast then.”
“What did you say?!” Hearing this, Lear’s blood boiled with so much rage that he almost spat blood.
That Dissolving Beast was a powerful spirit beast that he had spent a great deal of effort to raise! For it to actually be gone, just like that?!
At the thought of this, Lear’s vision suddenly turned black, and he collapsed onto the floor.
“You don’t have to be so dramatic,” the butler consoled him. “Even if you run out of spirit beasts, you can always raise a new one.”
“What do you know?” Lear glared the Butler beside him. “It’s not your spirit beast that just died!”
After saying this, he immediately looked at Shen Fei, who was standing at the side. He was so angry that he almost crushed his own teeth.
‘Heh, Shen Fei, you’re really something.’
Not only did he steal Aloy’s attention, but he even killed one of his spirit beasts! Lear would not let this go easily!
Lear waved his hand, and another portal appeared in the air. Today, between Shen Fei and him, only one of them can walk out alive!
Everyone’s expressions changed. Things had already come to this point, and Lear still wanted to summon another spirit beast to fight with Shen Fei?!
“You still want to fight?” Shen Fei looked at Lear fearlessly.
With a wave of his hand, the Three-clawed Golden Dragon on the pillar immediately reacted and circled around Shen Fei.
The situation was tense for a moment...
“You two, why don’t you sit down and have a cup of tea?” The Butler looked at the two of them gently, but the Little Bear beside him frowned and got into a fighting stance.
“If we continue to fight. Master Edward will not be happy.”
“Get out of my way!” Lear shouted fiercely at the butler.
“Don’t forget who’s the real head of the Gelin family! I’m talking to you, Lear!” The mayor’s booming voice came from above. He frowned at Lear. “Stop this at once!”
His younger brother was becoming more and more disobedient. Not only did he cause such a disgraceful farce for the Gelin family, but he also shamelessly boasted that he did not do anything wrong.
As expected, his mother had taught him too little. Since his mother did not wish to discipline him, then he, as his older brother, would discipline him properly!
‘I absolutely can’t let him continue with such arrogance!’
Lear gritted his teeth as he looked at his brother, who was standing high up on the second floor. Was the Gelin family’s reputation really that important?
“Edward, you’re such a—!”
“I told you to stop!” The mayor waved his hand.
Lear’s body suddenly fell back uncontrollably, and his whole body slumped hard against the pillar at his side!
Shen Fei looked at Lear with some trace of fear. Was this the strength of a mayor?
“I got it...” Lear stumbled as he tried to get up from the ground. “I will do as you wish, brother.”
After saying that, he unwillingly retracted his hand. The portal in the air also disappeared.
“Second Master, please.” At this point, the butler smiled at him and handed him the hot tea in his hand.
Lear took the hot tea from the butler and continued to glare at Shen Fei with hatred. He then drank the tea in one gulp.
‘Today, it’s just my misfortune that Shen Fei was lucky enough to keep his life! In the future, when I find an opportunity to cause trouble for Shen Fei, let’s see how my mayor-brother is going to protect him!’
“That’s enough.” The mayor looked at Shen Fei with dignity. “Shen Fei, come up here. I have something to say to you in private.”
After saying this, the mayor took the initiative to walk toward the reception room on the third floor.
“Young Mistress, Young Master Shen, please come with me.”
The butler smiled and took the initiative to walk in front of the two.
“Then, let’s go.”
Aloy reached out her hand to Shen Fei and smiled gently.
“Yes, let’s.”
Shen Fei nodded his head and held Aloy’s hand. The two of them immediately followed the butler and turned to leave.
...
Soon, the two of them arrived at the door on the third floor. However, just as the two of them were about to enter the room, the butler suddenly reached out and stopped Aloy.
“I’m sorry, Young Mistress. Master Edward has stated that this conversation can only be between him and Young Master Shen. You can’t go in.”
At this point, the butler apologetically handed a Little Bear to Aloy.
“You can play with my spirit beast for a while.”
“If that’s the case, fine.” Aloy nodded sensibly and sat to the side.
Shen Fei followed behind the butler as he pushed the door open.
“Master Edward, Young Master Shen is here.”
The mayor was leaning back in his chair and looking out the window. “That’s all for now, Mr. Guo, you may dismiss. I want to discuss something with Shen Fei in private.”
“Yes, sir.” When the Butler heard this, he immediately retreated to the door.
Shen Fei looked at the antique study room and curiously evaluated everything around him.
After the Butler left, the mayor immediately revealed a smile to Shen Fei. “You’re pretty strong. To be honest, I really admire people like you, because you remind me of someone familiar.”
At this point, the mayor looked nostalgically at the photograph he had placed on the table.
In that photograph, there was a figure that Shen Fei was extremely familiar with. It was his grandfather, who looked young enough to still be a bachelor when the picture was taken.
