As Ice Xilu appeared on the field, the audience erupted into thunderous applause.
What could possibly be more exciting than seeing Ice Xilu in the final match? Nothing! Absolutely nothing!
“Ice Xilu! Ice Xilu!”
“Qiao Sang! Qiao Sang! I love you!”
“Ahhh! Qiao Sang, you’re killing me! With her usual strategy, she’d definitely send Treasure-Seeking Demon for this round. But she sent out Ice Xilu for us!”
“Uh, isn’t sending Ice Xilu just the better choice? It’s a guaranteed win.”“You from another district wouldn’t understand a thing!”
“...”
In the back row, the uncle who had been crushed earlier by Predictive Tower Turtle was tearing up.
This injury was worth it!
He was bound to make the list for Top Lucky Moments for Spectators of the Year!
---
Ashfire Fox, an intermediate-level fire-type beast. It intimidates opponents with steam emitted from its ears. Trait: Flame Body.
Qiao Sang studied the small creature, mostly gray with red inner ears and eyes. Relevant information flashed through her mind.
“Lu.”
Lubao stared coldly at the tiny opponent.
Yes, tiny.
The Ashfire Fox was less than a meter tall. In Lubao’s eyes, it wasn’t much bigger than Little Treasure.
“Ash!”
Ashfire Fox crouched low, its muscles tensed for action. Its expression showed both hesitation and resolve.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
The mechanical voice signaling the start of the match sounded.
“Fire Jet!” Shao Liben commanded immediately.
At his directive, Ashfire Fox’s hesitation disappeared. With a determined gleam in its eyes, it opened its mouth and spewed out a blazing jet of fire toward Lubao.
The attack was swift, at least, for an intermediate-level beast.
Standing her ground, Lubao watched the incoming flames. To her, they seemed to be moving in slow motion.
As the fire was about to hit, she took a casual step to the left. The flames narrowly missed her.
The audience erupted in cheers, as though they’d witnessed a spectacular move.
“Ice Xilu is incredible!”
“Look at that calm and effortless dodge! She’s so cool!”
“Hey, hey, hey! You folks from Guwu District are being ridiculous. A high-level beast fighting an intermediate one, this is basic stuff.”
“What do you know? The same move looks way cooler when Ice Xilu does it!” (T/n: Lubao's defender till death xd)
“...”
On the field, Shao Liben quickly gave his next command:
“Flame Wheel!”
Flame Wheel, a mid-tier fire skill that envelops the user in flames, allowing them to roll at high speed toward their opponent, with a chance to inflict a burn.
“Ash!”
Ashfire Fox cried out, somersaulted forward, and was instantly engulfed in flames. Like a fiery wheel, it rolled rapidly toward Lubao, leaving steaming ground in its wake.
In the blink of an eye, it reached Lubao.
Lubao remained stationary, as if sensing that Ashfire Fox wouldn’t attack just yet.
Sure enough, Ashfire Fox suddenly shifted direction a meter away, circling Lubao instead.
The Flame Wheel grew faster and faster, leaving only a fiery blur. Then, Ashfire Fox leapt five meters into the air, positioning itself behind Lubao for a surprise attack.
“Now!” Qiao Sang shouted.
“Lu.”
At her signal, Lubao swung her tail, which was instantly wrapped in a torrent of water.
In one swift motion, her water-covered tail smacked Ashfire Fox midair.
With a resounding boom, Ashfire Fox was flung backward like a cannonball, crashing to the ground and rolling twice before lying motionless.
“Whistle!”
The mechanical referee beast hovered over Ashfire Fox, confirmed its condition, and blew the whistle signaling the end of the match.
I lost… Shao Liben glanced at Qiao Sang, then dismissed Ashfire Fox with a wave.
At that moment, the massive LED ceiling screen above the arena began to open.
In the sky, a giant projection of Ice Xilu, formed of blue light, appeared.
It swished its tail, releasing a cascade of glowing blue waves.
As the waves fell, the projection shattered into a spectacular display of blue fireworks.
“Lu...”
Lubao gazed upward, her eyes reflecting the brilliant fireworks.
Qiao Sang also looked up, silently admiring the breathtaking display.
“Ladies and gentlemen! The Regional Competition of the National Campus Beast Mastering League, featuring contestants from Guwu, Yuhua, Lianke, and Xilu Districts, has officially concluded!” Commentator Yi Ao announced passionately.
“The award ceremony will commence in 20 minutes. Please stay tuned!”
Thunderous applause and cheers erupted from the audience.
---
Meanwhile, in Zhongkong District...
In a lavishly decorated conference room, a man sat at the head of a table and asked,
“What’s your opinion on the suggestion submitted by Xilu District?”
There was no one else physically present, but a large virtual screen at the end of the table displayed 12 video feeds.
Each feed showed a formally dressed individual, leaders of the highest educational authorities from various districts.
Who would’ve thought the National Campus Beast Mastering League would progress to this stage of the Regional Competition and require these top officials to convene for a meeting?
“I think the rule should be added. We’re selecting the strongest students, not those who can win by teleporting their opponents out of the arena. That’s unfair to others.” Said a bald man in one of the feeds.
“Ha! Training a beast to master high-level spatial shift is also a display of strength. Limiting it would be unfair to the student who achieved that.” Retorted a chubby middle-aged man with drooping cheeks.
A younger man spoke calmly:
“This is a battle tournament. The focus is on combat. If everyone starts teleporting opponents out of the arena, what’s the point?”
“Didn’t the regional tournaments change their rules after something similar happened before? If they can adjust, why can’t we?”
The chubby man snorted.
“Changing the rules now, after the Regional Competition has concluded, would be ridiculous. If we’re revising them, it should be after this year’s tournament ends.”
An elderly man with graying hair chuckled and asked, “Minister Zhou, are you opposing this just because the student in question is from Yuhua District?”
Of course, I am! This genius is our ticket to a championship, how could I let you weaken her strength? But outwardly, the chubby man declared righteously:
“What do you take me for? My stance is purely for the sake of talent selection, with no personal bias whatsoever!”
