Chapter 232: In Love
"Yap!"
Before Qiao Sang could process her thoughts further, Yabao suddenly called out.
Qiao Sang paused, confused.
"Are you saying someone’s following us?"
"Yap yap!" Yabao nodded.
"Isn’t it usually people trailing you because you’re so handsome? Could it be those people?" Qiao Sang asked.
"Yap..."
Yabao, though finding that a strong possibility, remembered the odd noises from earlier and shook his head honestly.
Not them...? Qiao Sang thought, then lowered her voice.
"Pretend you don't know. Don’t turn your head; just keep walking.""Yap..."
Hearing his trainer's instructions, Yabao jerkily retracted his half-turned head and stiffly moved forward, looking anything but natural.
Clearly, Yabao had no talent for acting.
"Little Treasure, time to practice your skills." Qiao Sang whispered.
"Xun~"
Little Treasure understood instantly, showing a gleeful expression before vanishing.
Qiao Sang continued to walk calmly while vigilantly scanning her surroundings.
It turned out that it wasn't a wild extraordinary creature stalking her, it was another trainer.
The lingering cloud above her was likely caused by a high-level water-type skill, Rain Prayer, cast by the trainer’s pet beast.
Rain Prayer is an advanced skill, meaning at least one of the following trainer’s beasts is a high-level water-type. Possibly, there could even be beasts of higher levels.
She didn't know why this person was following her, but given the tailing and the downpour, it was obvious they had an agenda.
Since a direct confrontation wouldn’t be wise, especially given their apparent caution in avoiding a head-on conflict, she could take advantage of the moment when they thought she was unaware.
Let’s see what they’ll do…
Qiao Sang didn't wait long. Barely half a minute later, a sharp, whistling sound pierced through the air from behind.
"Yabao!" Qiao Sang shouted.
Yabao sensed the attack and instantly teleported three meters to her front left.
In the next moment, a moderately powerful wind blade slashed through the spot where Qiao Sang had just been standing.
So their target was Water Luriana... Qiao Sang realized as the wind blade flashed past in her peripheral vision.
Had she not dodged in time, that wind blade would’ve sliced right through her backpack.
Hidden nearby, Li Songhai’s eyes widened at the sudden disappearance and reappearance of the pet beast.
He’d misjudged again! This was actually a psychic-type pet beast, not a fire-type!
Realizing his mistake, Li Songhai quickly grew wary.
The pet beast, which had looked like a fire-type, had only teleported at the last second to avoid the wind blade. There was no way that was a coincidence.
It seems this girl realized she was being followed.
Since that’s the case, I might as well act directly and take what I want...
Just as Li Songhai was about to strike, he heard the girl’s slightly frantic voice:
"Yabao! Teleport ahead! We’re gonna be late!"
Li Songhai looked confused. So she had her fire-like pet teleport not because she noticed someone following her, but because she was rushing to school? Dodging the wind blade was just a coincidence?
"Kehehehe!"
Suddenly, a strange laugh sounded in his ear.
Already exhausted from two nights without sleep, Li Songhai was nearly scared out of his wits, reflexively turning his head to see the source.
He was met with the sight of the ghostly Little Treasure, eyes now glowing purple...
Purple… Li Songhai felt a wave of drowsiness, his vision blurring before he closed his eyes with barely a struggle.
Smack!
Li Songhai collapsed face-first, making his already unattractive face even worse.
Not far off, Rain Swallow, who had been on guard, turned just in time to see his trainer fall to the ground.
"Chichi!"
Rain Swallow glared at the Little Treasure, fury written across his face. He beat his wings, instantly conjuring two sharp wind blades, and launched them without hesitation.
"Xun~"
Little Treasure smirked, teleporting away as the wind blades slammed into the ground, leaving deep gashes.
"Chi chi!"
Rain Swallow shrieked, furiously beating his wings before swooping down, his body now enveloped in a vibrant blue glow.
Just as he was about to strike the Little Treasure, a fiery figure charged forward, Yabao!
Boom!
The two collided. Yabao only staggered back a step, while Rain Swallow’s right wing was scorched, sending him crashing into a nearby streetlight.
"Chi chi…"
Rain Swallow struggled to flap his injured wing, his head spinning.
"Chi chi!"
Despite the pain, Rain Swallow opened his wings, ready to continue fighting.
"Enough. I’ve got your trainer here." Qiao Sang called, squatting beside Li Songhai. She deftly unfastened his shoelaces.
She’d done this enough times to be skilled at it, quickly tying his hands tightly.
"Chi chi!"
Rain Swallow’s eyes widened, his entire body trembling with anger.
"Xun~"
Little Treasure teleported back to Qiao Sang’s side with a happy cry.
"Well done." Qiao Sang praised, looking up with a smile.
If it weren't for Little Treasure, this would’ve been much harder to resolve.
She knew the man lying on the ground had a high-level steel clad beast. If he’d summoned it, the fight would’ve been far more challenging.
Honestly, she wasn’t surprised to see it was him following her. He was the only one who knew of Water Luriana.
However… Qiao Sang’s gaze drifted toward the bird-like pet beast nearby, which was shaking with fury, its size not that large.
It didn’t seem like the kind of beast capable of using a high-level skill like Rain Prayer.
Could it be yet another prodigy capable of mastering high-level skills at a lower level, just like Yabao and Little Treasure?
Suddenly, a towering figure loomed over her from behind.
Qiao Sang felt a shadow fall over her, making her freeze.
"Xun!!"
Little Treasure’s eyes turned purple, glaring fiercely at the figure.
But the figure ignored him, lowering his gaze to look at the half-exposed Water Luriana peeking out of Qiao Sang’s bag.
"Armor."
The towering figure was none other than the armored beast Qiao Sang thought had yet to be summoned.
Realizing the situation had turned, Qiao Sang sprang forward, trying to escape. But the armored beast was swift, with a long reach.
After just a few steps, it snatched Water Luriana from her bag, tossing it toward Rain Swallow.
"Armor."
"Chi chi."
Receiving the armored beast’s signal, Rain Swallow’s eyes glinted as he flew toward Water Luriana, intending to grab it.
"Lu lu!"
Water Luriana cried out in fear, thinking she was about to be captured again, when suddenly she felt herself being lifted into the air.
Then, she was flung upward before landing in a soft, familiar embrace.
"Lu lu?"
Water Luxana blinked, confused, then saw a familiar face above her.
"Yap yap!"
Hovering in mid-air, Yabao bared his fangs, fiercely glaring at the armored beast.
"Lu lu..."
In that moment, Water Luriana felt like she had fallen in love.
