Be the Invincible God of Sword Again

Chapter 5

C5 – Did I Allow You to Marry My Sister?

The Spirit Mark Runes were incredibly rare, and the Liu Family had only seventy-nine left in their possession. Among these, there were twenty-seven defensive runes, thirteen speed runes, and thirty-nine attack runes. Liu Xingchang took the runes from the jade box and channeled the Spiritual Energy within his Spirit Sea. Instantly, the seventy-nine runes transformed into streaks of green light, merging with the Spiritual Energy and entering the three Spirit Seas.

“With my current level, my Spirit Sea can only handle the energy of a level one Spirit Mark Rune… I’m so weak…” he lamented. Cultivators of different levels required corresponding levels of Spirit Mark Runes, with each rune tier matching a cultivator’s realm.

At his current level, Liu Xingchang could only integrate level one Spirit Mark Runes. Once the runes were set, he began his cultivation practice, engaging the Great Law of the Blue Sky, his favorite technique from his past life. This elite technique was beyond the reach of the Great Pine Kingdom, incredibly potent, and it immediately began to refine the plethora of heavenly treasures before Liu Xingchang.

Though the Liu Family’s collection of treasures had dwindled over the years, the remaining amount was still astonishing for a third-grade Cultivator. As the Great Law of the Blue Sky harnessed all the energy from the treasures, Liu Xingchang’s realm started to advance at an extraordinary pace.

“Boom! Boom! Boom!” The energy filled the three Spirit Seas, and Liu Xingchang’s level surged to the Fourth Grade. “Boom! Boom! Boom!” In less than the time it took to brew a pot of tea, his Spirit Seas brimmed once more, naturally elevating his realm to the Fifth Grade.

”Boom! Boom!” Roughly half an hour later, his level ascended to the Sixth Grade as the energy from the immortal grass and Spirit Stones was completely depleted, leaving them shriveled and dark.

Having exhausted the Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, Liu Xingchang proceeded to open the remaining jade bottles, extracting a vast quantity of elixirs and swallowing them all in one gulp.

If a typical Sixth Grade Cultivator were to consume pills with such voracity, their Spirit Seas would undoubtedly be incinerated by the overwhelming energy. However, Liu Xingchang’s three Spirit Seas could collectively handle the energy from the pills, so he had nothing to worry about.

“Boom! Boom! Boom!”

An hour later, visible energy waves emanated from Liu Xingchang as the epicenter.

Liu Xingchang’s realm had seamlessly advanced to the Seventh Grade!

“All these heavenly materials, earthly treasures, and wondrous pills, and I’ve only ascended four realms… The Three-Spirit Sacred Body truly is the most extravagant constitution,” Liu Xingchang mused with a sigh. He then rose to his feet, glanced at the sky with a furrowed brow.

”Time flies… I must depart now!”

With no time to spare, Liu Xingchang snatched the iron sword from the table and strode out the door.

……

The Lord Dai’s Mansion was abuzz today.

The entire Royal Capital was abuzz with the story of Liu Xingchang, once deemed worthless, having slain Dai Tianli. The Dai Family’s methods of retaliation were well-known to all.

The Dai Family had forcibly taken Liu Xingchang’s sister, Liu Xinchang, compelling her to marry the Dai Family’s intellectually challenged Third Young Master as a concubine, dealing a severe blow to the Liu Family’s honor.

Even if the Liu Family were to disregard their reputation and focus solely on kinship, they would certainly attempt to rescue Liu Xinchang.

Yet, it was clear to everyone that should the Liu Family launch an assault, it would give the Dai Family a pretext to annihilate them. Thus, if Liu Xingchang truly had the spirit of loyalty, he would face the Dai Family alone.

But would Liu Xingchang dare to make such a move?

For Liu Xingchang, this was a journey with no return, as the Dai Family had evidently laid a trap to kill him.

The news of Liu Xingchang’s staunch defense of his family’s dignity had spread far and wide across the Royal Capital, drawing various powers to the Dai Family’s doorstep, all eager to witness whether Liu Xingchang had indeed undergone a transformation.

Would Liu Xingchang actually rush to the Dai Family to rescue his sister?

As the auspicious time arrived, the entrance to the Dai Family’s estate was festooned with lanterns and streamers, amidst the cacophony of drums and firecrackers.

Representatives from various powers arrived bearing generous gifts, their intentions for making a personal appearance quite clear.

Princess Qingyuan had made her way to the Dai Family estate early, accompanied by the siblings from the Prime Minister’s Mansion and the Third Prince.

Everyone eagerly anticipated Liu Xingchang’s arrival, for without him, the event would lose its spectacle and significance.

Amidst a chorus of cheers and laughter, several heavily made-up bridesmaids giggled as they supported a bride whose legs seemed to falter with each step. Despite being clad in a robe, her stunning figure was unmistakable. Her unsteady gait suggested she had been given a drug to weaken her legs, likely because if the Liu Family failed to intervene, Liu Xinchang’s disruption at the wedding would be a major embarrassment for the Dai Family.

Upon seeing the bride, Dai Tianke, adorned with a large red flower on his chest, broke into a foolish grin, drooling, “Beauty… Beauty… I want to sleep with the beauty…” The room erupted with laughter.

Princess Qingyuan squinted, musing to herself, “Liu Xingchang, if you truly abandon your sister to marry this fool out of cowardice, you are no longer human.”

At that moment, the wedding officiant concluded the congratulatory address, moving on to the ritual of bowing to heaven and earth.

Still, no one from the Liu Family had appeared, leaving the guests murmuring in disappointment.

Was the Liu Family truly too fearful to even rescue their own daughter?

Rumors had circulated that Liu Xingchang was no longer afraid of death, but now, it seemed he might still be.

“With one bow to heaven and earth,” the officiant called out.

Following the command, Dai Tianke and Liu Xinchang were guided by the bridesmaids to bow deeply toward the entrance of the hall.

Dai Tianke chuckled with naive excitement, his base desires stirring within him.

Beneath her veil, Liu Xinchang had already cried all her tears.

“Brother, I can no longer protect you… I can no longer tend to your wounds after you’ve been bullied…”

“Brother, you promised to find me a good husband…”

“Brother, will you come? I don’t want you to come… I’ve heard there are ambushes set up everywhere…”

“Brother, if you don’t come, I won’t blame you… I truly won’t…”

“Bow to the high hall!”

The officiant’s voice boomed once more, prompting the matchmaker to gently guide Liu Xinchang to bow deeply toward the main hall.

Seated at the head of the hall were two distinguished figures: Lord Dai, the father of Dai Tianli, and the Third Prince, who had arrived with Qing Yi and Qing Bai.

Due to the Third Prince’s esteemed status, Lord Dai had promptly seated him in the place of honor to serve as the marriage witness.

“Husband and wife, bow to each other!”

As the ceremony neared its conclusion, Liu Xinchang was on the verge of becoming Dai Tianke’s wife. Dai Tianke, grinning with his yellow teeth, seemed even more overjoyed.

Princess Qingyuan squinted her eyes, dreading the sight of the union becoming reality.

Qing Yi gritted her teeth, her delicate white hand gripping the sword hilt. She had resolved that even if Liu Xingchang was a coward, she would repay her debt of gratitude to him, and she was determined to do so through Liu Xinchang!

Qing Bai’s eyes brimmed with scorn. If her sister were in danger, he would rush to her rescue without a second thought. But Liu Xingchang had chosen to back down. As a seasoned warrior, Qing Bai had nothing but contempt for cowards who wouldn’t even save their own kin.

At this juncture, Dai Tianke had already bowed deeply, and the matchmaker was pressing Liu Xinchang’s body downward.

Their heads were about to meet when, in this split-second moment of urgency, a chilling voice erupted from outside the hall.

“Did I give you, the Dai Family, permission to marry my sister?”
