Chapter 46 - Spring Water Stewing Method
Chapter 46: Spring Water Stewing Method
In the hall on the 1st floor,
everyone felt the building tremble again. This time round, it was noticeably stronger, and the tremors lasted much longer. The applicants trying to sign up in the hall were visibly shaken too.
“Damn! What’s happening? It trembled again?”
“Seems to be coming from the testing equipment room on the 8th floor. Could it be that Dojo Master Lu is practicing there or testing his strength?”
“These are the tremors caused by Dojo Master Lu testing his strength? What kind of strength does he have? Isn’t this too terrifying?”
“Is this really Dojo Master Lu’s strength? It’s truly incredible!”
“If I have this kind of strength, I will be satisfied for the rest of my life!”
“…”
On the testing hall on the 8th floor,
Lu Yu felt the strong tremors, and was surprised by the intensity. He didn’t expect his own strength had already reached such a high level.
Thankfully the whole building was designed to accommodate martial arts practitioners. The building foundations were equipped with tremor-absorbers designed for use in high-rise buildings.
Despite such vigorous shaking, the forces would be safely dissipated by the tremor-absorbers.
Otherwise, with the normal high-rise building design, under the force from such a powerful punch from Lu Yu, the whole building might well have collapsed.
......
At this moment, on the right side of the green testing stone beside Lu Yu, the figures on the monitoring device were spinning furiously.
Finally, it stopped at an astonishing number.
993,200 kilograms! It exceeded 990,000 kilograms!
If one punch equaled 1 million kilograms, it meant he had reached Grand Master level.
Since Lu Yu had achieved more than 990,000 kilograms in one punch, it meant he had reached the pinnacle of the Great Martial Master, and was only one step away from becoming a Grand Master.
At this moment, another series of notifications popped up before Lu Yu again.
[Ding! Detected that host has reached the pinnacle of the Great Martial Master level. The next step is Grand Master level, Delicacy Cells will evolve further at that point.]
[After evolution, Delicacy Cells can help the host increase his strength much further. However, when consuming ordinary food or ordinary Fearsome Beast meat without cooking, host will derive little to no benefit.]
After reading the notifications, Lu Yu began to understand.
Once he stepped into the realm of Grand Master, his abilities would have reached another totally different level and his Delicacy Cells would further evolve.
By that time, ordinary food or regular Fearsome Beast meat would no longer offer any benefit for Lu Yu.
In truth, Lu Yu had been expecting such an outcome.
In the first place, those ordinary foods were not giving him much increase in strength.
For those Fearsome Beast meat, those of lower class were also not much help to Lu Yu.
It would appear that in order to rapidly increase his strength, he would have to look for very rare ingredients and use special cooking methods.
Thus, the ‘Sky Valley Culinary Method’ manual that the Patriarch Song Xiaotian gave him was indeed a godsend. Otherwise, Lu Yu would not have been able to trigger the massive energy stored within the Scarlet Shaggy Mammoth meat and achieve such an alarming leap in his abilities.
Following this, Lu Yu retrieved the ‘Sky Valley Culinary Method’ manual and began reading again.
Of the two methods detailed inside, the first was the Flame Roasting method which Lu Yu deployed earlier. According to the manual, the effect was average. It could only unlock the energy in Fearsome Beast meat at the rudimentary level, and was very limited indeed.
Lu Yu sighed inwardly. Earlier when he used the first cooking method and consumed the Scarlet Shaggy Mammoth meat, his abilities had already risen by such a staggering amount. Yet the manual called it an average, ordinary effect! Imagine what the second method could achieve!
After this, Lu Yu began reading up on the second method of cooking in detail, the Spring Water Stewing Method.
After reading it once through, he realized that although the cooking method was different, it was not very arduous. In fact, the difficulty level was probably on par with the first method.
The main challenge in cooking was procuring the resources required. As for the other rare ingredients, Lu Yu could simply spend some effort or a huge amount of money to get hold of them.
However, there were 3 items that money could not buy, no matter how rich one was.
There were, namely, the butter fat from the Fearsome Beast Blood-sucking Rhinoceros, the refreshing sweet spring water from the Sky Spring, and the rose rock salt from the Dark Gold Mineral Ore vein.
These 3 items were incredibly rare. They were impossible to buy with money. He could only go and locate them by himself.
Lu Yu found a tablet PC and started searching on the Federation’s web service, trying to find out where he could locate these 3 rare items.
Very soon, he found out that there was a blood-sucking wasteland that was located not far from where he was now.
Coincidentally, all 3 rare items could be found on this particular blood-sucking wasteland.
As far as Lu Yu could remember, the direction in which the Scarlet Shaggy Mammoth and the Crimson Haired Warthogs escaped seemed to be where the blood-sucking wasteland was located.
The blood-sucking wasteland was full of Fearsome Beasts. It was Fearsome Beast territory and very few human martial arts practitioners would venture out there.
It was rumored that the blood-sucking wasteland provided plenty of opportunities. It contained various rare ingredients and precious treasures. Simply grabbing any of those items would allow him to advance his abilities by a lot.
However, at the same time, it was also a land full of danger. It might even be a one-way trip to hell.
Over the decades, among those powerful experts who ventured out to this place, very few returned.
Even amongst those who made it back, they were covered with injuries from head to toe, or they were missing one arm or had lost a part of their leg. From this evidence, it was clear that the blood-sucking wasteland was extremely dangerous.
Lu Yu now felt very troubled, because though he knew where he could locate the ingredients, the way there was fraught with insurmountable obstacles.
Although Lu Yu’s current strength was not weak by any measure, if he were to venture out alone into the blood-sucking wasteland, it would still be life-threatening for him.
Lu Yu shook his head in disappointment. He had no choice but to think of alternatives.
At nightfall, the recruitment exercise finally concluded.
Due to Lu Yu’s immense reputation outside, the recruitment exercise successfully snared many good candidates for the dojo and the 4th squadron. There were many powerful experts in their midst too, inviting much envy and jealousy from the other 4 great dojos.
The 4 dojos had also publicized their respective generous terms and conditions, and some terms were even more generous and bountiful than what the Central Dojo offered.
However, despite such tactics, the number of people applying to join those dojos were very sparse. In fact, they could only recruit a few candidates.
Meanwhile, Lu Yu had completed all his tasks and could finally take a break. He decided to head home.
These few days, he had been busy with the dojo’s renovation work and did not once go home. Therefore, it had been quite some time since he spent some quality time with his family.
When Lu Yu got back home, it was already dark, but his home was ablaze with lights.
As he pushed open the main door, he saw that his wife Giovanna was busy in the kitchen while son Lu Shan and daughter Lu Shui were helping out.
When the children saw Lu Yu, they yelled excitedly, “Dad’s back!”
When Giovanna heard them, she turned to look at him, her eyes filled with tenderness. “Old man, you’re back! You must be exhausted. Take a rest on the sofa first, dinner will be ready soon!” she said.
“I’m fine, I’m not tired at all.” Lu Yu replied with a smile and a shake of his head. He quickly walked in to help out as well.
The family of 4 gathered in the kitchen preparing dinner. Before long, all the dishes were ready.
The dining table was filled with rich, scrumptious delicacies, all piping hot. The 4 of them then sat down around the dining table.
Lu Shan and Lu Shui stared at their father with unbridled curiosity.
Although he was still the same old father they knew, there had been way too many changes to Lu Yu’s body these few days. All his white hair had turned completely black.
His previously frail shrunken body was now covered with sinewy muscles.
90-year-old Lu Yu now looked like someone in his 30s, at the prime of his life.
“Dad, you are so full of muscles now! You look even more impressive than our instructors!” Lu Shan gushed with astonishment.
Beside him, Lu Shui smiled and said, “That goes without saying! Our Dad is now the hero of the whole city! He slew so many Fearsome Beasts during the battle in which the Fearsome Beasts attacked the city. How can you compare him to your instructors? It’s two totally different levels.”
