Awakened: The Spirit King!

Chapter 23: Bandit's Hideout!

Puchi!

The sound of a sharp sword tearing apart flesh sounded in the air.

Every pair of eyes in the surroundings turned towards the source of the blood-chilling noise.

What the four bandits saw filled them with disbelief, and their eyes widened so much that their eyeballs threatened to pop out of their sockets.

They were shocked out of their wits, shaken to their core!

With mouths agape, they saw a sword splitting their boss's body into two halves, warm blood spurting out and splashing here, there, everywhere. Each one fell to the ground, revealing the culprit behind the murder.

He looked handsome and graceful, but as he was holding the bloody murder weapon in his hand, he looked not at all peaceful and more like a murderous devil.

"You bastard! I will kill you!"

"Avenge our boss!"

"Don't let this bastard escape!"

The bandits roared and charged towards Xie Yang.

He smirked and whistled.

Immediately after, Leader Ye stepped out of hiding and, in the blink of an eye, appeared in between him and the bandits.

The four bandits came to an immediate halt and speechlessly stared at the stern-faced Leader Ye. Who the heck was this person? How did he appear in front of them out of thin air?! Many thoughts haunted their minds, and their earlier aggressiveness was nowhere to be seen.

"For daring to direct your killing intent at my family's young master, pay with your life." Leader Ye gave the four bandits a look, and then immense spiritual energy surged out of his body.

The spiritual energy that came out of his body was so much that the bandits and Xie Yang could actually see it. To them, it looked like a massive water wave. And it came crashing down towards the four bandits. It moved so fast that the four bandits failed to put up a defense or step out of its way. It crashed on them, breaking their bones and submerging them inside of it, and immobilizing them.

It became impossible for the four bandits to breathe or struggle.

Three of them died, and only then did Leader Ye wave his hand, causing the massive wave of spiritual energy to dissipate and the last remaining bandit to fall on the ground.

If Xie Yang didn't want one of them alive, then all of them would be dead by now.

"Why didn't you kill me? Why keep me alive?" The bandit asked after catching his breath and determining that all the members of his team had died.

"I'm giving you a chance." Xie Yang said, "Take me to your base, and I will not only not raise my hand against you but also let you go your own way, let you live. Accept my proposal and work for me for a short while if you don't want to lose your head."

The bandit hadn't even started thinking when Xie Yang's sword touched his neck. Its body was cold and carried the scent of blood. The bandit shivered like a frightened rabbit when it touched his hairy neck.

"I am not a patient guy, so give me an answer right now." The voice he used to say those words was full of killing intent. The bandit didn't need more than three brain cells to understand that Xie Yang would behead him if he remained indecisive for a single minute more.

"Okay," the bandit muttered incoherently.

"What?!"

"I will lead you to the den where the big boss and the rest of the boss are!"

"Then, start moving already."

After Xie Yang stripped the bandits' corpses from everything of value, the saber-holding bandit gritted his teeth to endure the pain of broken bones and led them to a huge rocky cliff with a waterfall. Clear, blue streams of water were gushing out of the top of the cliff and falling down to the small lake below. Xie Yang and Leader looked around and found no den here whatsoever.

Did the bandit lie to them?

That thought had just popped up in their mind when the bandit said, "Our hideout is just behind the waterfall. If you step behind it, you'll find a vast cave. All the people we've kidnapped are there, and all the treasure we've looted over the years is also there. We also picked up many beauties from the nearby village, disguising it as an act of a beast eating the woman.

And all of them are inside there. I am sure their beauty will amuse young noble."

Xie Yang rolled his eyes at the bandit, speechlessly cursing him as a sick bastard.

The bandit was a sick bastard as he liked to force himself on to helpless women.

"Stop beating around the bush and come straight to the point." Xie Yang said.

"Let me leave, okay?"

"Go."

The bandit thanked him, turned around, and made a run for him. While running away, he cursed nine generations of Xie Yang's family. He also speechlessly promised to avenge his teammates and take revenge for the humiliation Xie Yang had forced down his throat. He was thinking of doing many inhumane things to Xie Yang when immense pain filled him.

The bandit's eyes widened in disbelief as he saw the tip of a short sword poking out of his chest. As warmth left his body, he turned around and glared viciously at Xie Yang.

"B-But you said, you will let me go! Bastard!"

"I said I will let you go, but I never promised that Leader Ye here would do the same, did I? Why curse me for your stupidity? Stupid barbaric mongrel." Xie Yang retorted.

The last three words Xie Yang's spewed seemed to hit the dying bad too hard, causing him to puke out a mouthful of blood and perish immediately.

Leader Ye gave Xie Yang a thumbs up and said, "Young master, even your tongue is as sharp as a sword."

"I will take that as a compliment." Xie Yang said, a barely discernible smile hanging on his face.
