Chapter 91: Hollow fights back!
Chapter 91: Hollow fights back!
“As I thought.” Theo bought his act at face value, thinking that Elliot is bound to a magic contract that forces him to never reveal anything about them to the others. Elves act in a low-key manner, and they don’t want to reveal themselves to the humans yet, so they normally wipe the memories of the human that encounters them or force them to sign a magic contract to keep their identity hidden. He believed that Elliot is one such human, and Elliot had no intention of clarifying this beautiful misunderstanding.
Elliot patted him on his shoulder, then said in a low voice, “Don’t treat your life as a currency. If there’s trouble coming our way, then we can deal with it together. There’s no need for you to foolishly sacrifice yourself.”
Theo listened in silence, but in the end, turned around, acting almost as if he disapproves of his decision.
“I can’t do that. I must assert my dominance in the magician community and earn fame, connection, and power before it is too late.”
“Why?” Elliot asked, unable to understand the meaning behind his last few words.
“Since you know about the truth of my eyes, I believe one of us must have told you that we lost our home to them. I don’t have a place to return to, so I don’t have a reason to treasure my life. The only reason I am surviving is to fight the upcoming war and defeat them at least once in my life. But it’s not the same for you and the others. You guys still have a home to run to. You still have a chance to protect it from them and live a long, warless, peaceful, and happy life.” Theo used his special powers to directly say these words in Elliot’s mind as he didn’t want anyone to know what he said.
Elliot’s eyes widened as some of Theo’s words gave answers to clear some of his confusion. First off, he understood that some things drove the elves out of their home planet Lorene, causing them to migrate to Xavier and blend in with human society. Secondly, those things are going to attack Xavier.
“So a great war is coming.” Elliot thought in his mind, feeling disturbed internally but keeping a calm face outwardly so that he won’t arouse Theo’s suspicion.
He wasn’t sure whether Theo would try to erase his memories after he finds out that he knows not of elves, and thus, Elliot decided to utilize his rights to remain silent. Therefore, he did not clarify Theo’s misunderstandings.
Lisa and John felt curious about what they talked about, so they started to bug them like bugs, asking the same thing using different words.
“What did you guys talk about?”
“Come on, tell us about it.”
Elliot and Theo had no words for them!
The first one doesn’t want to publicly announce that they would be attacked in the future by invaders as that would lead to mass hysteria and panic. While the half-elven lad had his reasons for not telling the humans that are not related to elves in any way about the upcoming war.
While Lisa and John were pestering them, a match ended in a draw. Both the contestant got off the stage, and then instructor Leonardo announced the token number of the next two participants, one of them being John, and the other, a magician in the magical realm.
“Go, man, it is your turn to fight,” Theo said while looking at John.
“Be safe and don’t hesitate to give up if your opponent is too strong,” Elliot advised John, worried that he would refuse to give up and get his ass handed over to him by his opponent.
John nodded, then said, “I will be back soon.”
The opponent saw that the one walking up the stairs is John, so he said in an arrogant voice while looking down at him, “Hey, you trashy hollow! You better give up before the fight begins or I will beat you up so bad that your whore mother won’t be able to recognize you!”
“You just gave me a good reason to bash you in and out,” John said before he pushed himself up from his toes, leaping off the stairs and jumping onto the stage.
He and his opponent were standing opposite to each other, both waiting for instructor Leonardo to announce the start of the fight. He counted to three and then announced the beginning of the match.
Immediately after, the two unawakened magicians dashed at each other, exchanging a few punches before backing off.
Both got hit in the previous exchange!
However, the one who got the most hits was undoubtedly John, and that signified that he lost in the initial exchange.
“See that? I hit you four more times than you hit me. There’s no way you’re gonna win against me. So how about you be a good little boy and just give up?”
“I haven’t even used 1% of my powers,” John said cheekily, brushing the blood trickling down the corner of his mouth.
“Huh? What do you mean?”
John performed a few sign hands to channel the magic energy in his body into the magic matrix, activating it and summoning multiple pairs of eyes,
“So this is what made you so confident, huh. You aren’t the only one with a magic matrix!” John’s opponent said before performing some hand signs and activating his magic matrix that increases his speed by 15%.
“Now, things are about to get serious!” John said with a smile.
He and his opponent rushed to each other, closing the distance in a short time. Then, they started to brawl it out with each other.
John managed to land a lot of hits on his opponent. The most confusing part was that John was able to perfectly move out of the way of his opponent’s fists and kicks, evading all of his attacks, and thus, surprising the onlookers to the point that their eyes opened wide and their jaws threatened to drop to touch the ground.
