Chapter 67 – Giant Bees’ Killer
Chapter 67 – Giant Bees’ Killer
Only one remained, noticeably faster, targeted by Athena's Moonlight Bow and swiftly eradicated.
With no time for rest, Athena hastened away from this troubled place at the fastest speed possible. The explosion's thunderous roar moments ago had alerted monsters in the vicinity and caught the attention of people in the distance, her marker on the map shining brightly.
Whether the swarm of giant bees would pursue again was uncertain; players couldn't kill her, but their options were limited.
The markers on the map kept changing, with her own representation glowing even brighter after the recent battle, elevating her ranking once again.
Sixth place, Big Dream!
Not only were others approaching, but even two from the top 10 were closing in on her position.
The once dark forest now blazed brilliantly, illuminated by the fires consuming the trees in every direction.
This was precisely what the system had previously introduced: the Flame Enhancer, a necessary tool for setting mountains ablaze. Little had she expected to be setting one ablaze herself someday.
With nowhere to hide and her position marked, finding her would be effortless for her adversaries, even with evasion skills.
Her immediate objective was to put distance between herself and this place, find a spot to recuperate, then locate a defensible position.
Athena's figure moved through the night like a ghost, undeterred by visibility constraints, running at her maximum speed.
Several consecutive battles and prolonged running had left her leg muscles sore, exacerbated by the strain from her earlier skill usage.
Mikmik, at this moment, simply wished to curl up somewhere inconspicuous like an unnoticed cat. It clung to Athena's shoulder, its claws gripping her clothing to prevent itself from being jostled by her vigorous movements.
Its emerald green eyes, however, missed nothing in their surroundings, perceiving all movements as sluggish.
Upon Athena's deliberate search, she discovered a steep incline in this terrain-variable forest, sprinting up it at top speed.
The steepness almost caused her to tumble down, her hands clutching onto a rock, her arms exerting force to propel her upward, successfully reaching the summit.
Only the quiet rustle of the wind and the vast expanse of darkness surrounded her, concealing the lurking dangers. Yet, in this silence, danger seemed more ominous.
Upon reaching the elevated ground, Mikmik had already leapt from her shoulder, patrolling the area.
Though relatively safe here, Athena finally had a moment to catch her breath. Her face was pale, sweat dripping from her body, and her legs throbbing in pain.
To worsen matters, a long gash can be seen her side, bleeding profusely from the sprint, soaking her clothes red around the wound.
Despite her attempts to evade at maximum speed earlier, the relentless barrage of projectile attacks from bees had still managed to graze her, leaving behind a deep cut.
