Chapter 26 Making Charms
All of them looked at Ren Ye with fear and shrank further away from him; truly believing Ren Ye would actually do such a thing to them.
They quickly got up and ran away at full speed without glancing back, crying out loudly with shame and anger,
"Curses!"
Ren Ye nodded his head and shot a rather complex glance at Deng Ming and Uncle Jie, muttering under his breath, "A bunch of rats."
"Little Ye," Uncle Jie stuttered quietly and stared at him with a grateful smile, "Thank you, kid."
"No problem," Ren Ye replied emotionless and glanced at Deng Ming with cold eyes, "Be cautious because they will come back again."
"I know," Uncle Jie nodded his head apologetically, "I will go to the police and write a report."
Uncle Jie smacked Deng Ming roughly on his back, gesturing him to go forward and apologize to Ren Ye. Deng Ming gritted his teeth and endured his shame,
"I, Deng Ming, apologize for what I did and said earlier in the restaurant."
Looking at Ren Ye, Deng Ming felt a sense of shame and inferior complex toward him.
Ren Ye yawned with a bored expression, "An apology won't get you out of trouble, you will have to deal with the mess you left behind."
"Sun De will likely target you, I won't be there to help you all the time. Make sure my name isn't in your mouth when you speak with him,"
Ren Ye turned around and spoke coldly, "I have a daughter, I don't want her to be involved in your trouble because of my kindness toward you."
Deng Ming clenched his jaw and bowed his head in shame, "Rest assured, you can expect that from me."
Sun De, the young master of the Sun Family, Ren Ye knows him well enough to know his true temperament. Ren Ye had met him once at a meeting in Jindao a couple of years ago when the Ren Family was at its peak.
Ren Ye naturally disliked him because of their conflicting personalities, Sun De was a well-known womanizer in the social circle and attempted to ask Ren Ye about his then-girlfriend at that time; Ren Ye wasn't oblivious and refused to talk to him.
In Beikang, he knew a lot of people here but many of them had forgotten who he was ever since the Ren Family collapsed.
He prefers to stay out of trouble with them for the time being, he initially didn't want to help Deng Ming out. Due to Uncle Jie's pleas and his being his boss, he had to join in and help out.
If things truly get out of hand, he will immediately retreat and take up a new identity.
What frightened him wasn't Sun De but his background and the people who back him, he truly believed a transmigrator dwells in his circle.
Ren Ye went back to Uncle Jie's office and stumbled upon a dazed Old Yi who was looking at the ceiling with a drained expression, Ren Jia was casually drawing on her notebook with a satisfied smile.
"What happened here?" Ren Ye was slightly taken aback.
Old Yi's mouth moved constantly but didn't mutter any words, Ren Jia jolted and lifted her to glance at Ren Ye with delight in her glossy eyes,
"Papa! How did it go?"
Ren Jia jumped off the couch and ran into his arms, abandoning her drawing. Ren Ye caught the little girl and lifted her up, placing his arm against her little legs and hugging her tightly.
"Hmm?"
"Did Papa fight bad guys?"
"How'd you know?" Ren Ye pinched her chubby cheeks, causing the little girl to pout her lips.
"Old Yi said Papa is the best fighter he has ever seen," She giggled and put her face on his shoulder.
'I doubt Old Yi would actually say that, he has seen way better fighters than me…'
Ren Ye didn't comment on it and glanced toward Old Yi who was still in the same position, "What happened to him?"
"Grandpa Yi lost to me, hehe," The little girl swayed her legs for a couple of minutes.
"..."
He cast his eyes onto the board game and saw the written scores on a piece of paper. Out of seven rounds, Ren Jia won five of them.
"..."
He couldn't help but glance at Old Yi with disdain, tsked, 'Tsk! He really lost to a three-year-old child…'
Ren Ye pinched her nose playfully and heard the door open, Uncle Jie entered the room with a tired expression on his face and sat down on the table,
"Uncle is truly sorry for you," Uncle Jie sighed gloomily and glanced at him apologetically, " Ming'er is an impulsive child since he was young."
"I hope you didn't take any of what he said at the restaurant this morning seriously…"
Ren Ye shook his head and spoke in a monotone voice, "It is alright."
"I hope Uncle Jie will not speak of my name to anyone else, including to the police."
He knew even one tiny bit of mistake could reveal his identity to Sun De and his team, Sun De was scheming and vengeful.
"No worries, we won't. After I write down a report, they will eventually be caught," Uncle Jie let out a laugh, "Sun De may be at levels higher than me but he dares not act recklessly against a public figure like me."
Sun De didn't fear Deng Ming but what he truly feared is his family's reputation would be tarnished and his father would take action against him.
His actions were often swept under the rug and to actually go against Deng Jie, a public figure like his father as well.
It was like paving the way to an early death.
He was cowardly not coming here but he was rational in certain things.
"Sun De is vengeful, Uncle. Even if you feel he won't do anything to you, your son won't be completely safe from him. After all, Sun De is unpredictable and even more so, the people behind him," Ren Ye warned him cautiously.
Uncle Jie nodded his head and glanced at him with an increasingly dark expression, "I know."
"Here's your contract paper," Uncle Jie placed a piece of paper in front of Ren Ye and smiled indifferently at him, "Sign it and you can start working from tomorrow."
"I registered your name into the app using your Driver's License, you can go check it by entering the password in the contract."
Ren Ye nodded his head and took the pen, carefully reading the contract before signing; the contract consisted of rules he wouldn't break anyways.
Uncle Jie tossed him a car key and let out a laugh, "Here's the car, I lend you one of the company's."
"You're free to take them wherever you go."
-
In front of Ren Ye was a gray Ford Mondeo with a sign on top of the car that says, 'Taxi'.
Ren Ye was pretty satisfied and casually prepared a booster seat for Ren Jia in the front seat, Ren Ye felt a bit worried.
He didn't feel safe having his daughter in the front seat because of many reasons, much of them relating to safety.
Old Yi hummed and spoke inside Ren Ye's head, 'Don't worry about it, I can help you handle it.'
'Claim the reward in the system.'
Ren Ye nodded his head and opened the system's tab,
[Ding! Congratulation to user on completing his mission!]
[Reward: 5 Soundproof Bullets]
[Ability Unlocked: Teleportation]
"Teleportation?"
Ren Ye was slightly taken aback.
'I have recovered some of my useful powers as well,' Old Yi laughed out loud, 'I can now make magic charms.'
'Although it will take up a lot of my powers, I will teach you how to make one yourself using your abilities.'
'Does this mean you can turn teleportation into a charm?'
'Yes, the system can turn them into charms for your daughter,' Old Yi replied with a smug expression, 'By inscribing a word onto a piece of empty charm, it will have the characteristic of that ability and could be activated at any time.'
'Although it does come with side effects, it won't be too much. After all, Ice is known to be able to seal the side effect away with its freezing power.'
'Alright,' Ren Ye nodded his head and lowered his eyes onto Ren Jia who was sitting on the booster seat, 'Teach me how to.'
-
Ren Ye took Ren Jia around the city and inside the car,
"Papa is driving!"
The little girl couldn't help but exclaim adorably and looked out the windows with excitement.
Ren Ye laughed softly, "Why are you so surprised?"
"I don't know, Jia'er used to think Papa is unable to drive…"
"..."
Ren Ye stopped by a grocery market and went inside Ren Jia to buy some ingredients to make at home; eating outside every day is draining the life out of Ren Ye's wallet and he preferred to cook at home instead.
"What do you want to eat?" Ren Ye asked the little girl in his arms as he pushed the cart to check the vegetables.
"Whatever Papa makes, I will eat them all."
Ren Ye stopped pushing the cart and pinched her nose playfully, "What if I cook poisonous food, would you eat it?"
"Because it is Papa who makes it, I will eat it."
"I believe that my Papa won't ever hurt me," A bright light gleamed in the little girl's eyes, causing Ren Ye to purse his lips into straight lines.
Ren Ye later curled his lips into a soft smile and pinched her chubby cheeks, "Ah! Why is this child so adorable?"
"If only I could swallow you and have you inside my stomach forever, I would do it without hesitation," Ren Ye spoke in a serious tone, causing Ren Jia to become frightened.
"Papa!"
