Ascenders Rift

Chapter 256: A Brutal Battlefield

Chapter 256: A Brutal Battlefield

The battle had already begun, the brutal clash between Mankind and Flesh Mutators, reaching a new peak as the final battle had unfolded.

A series of explosions littered the horizon as the droning sounds from aircraft engines resounded across the sky; they flew into clusters of Horde Carriers, launching a barrage of missiles and ray laser rays.

As the missiles exploded onto the various Flesh Mutators' bodies while rays bore through their heads and torsos, those who were too weak to resist them fell towards the ground in bundles, crashing against the earth in a pile of human and nonhuman corpses.

Still, while many of them failed to resist the onslaught, more had plowed through explosions and rays crashing into the aircraft with their bodies. Once this happened, they split the aircraft into pieces by gripping it and ripping it to shreds before they enveloped and swallowed the human pilots.

"Argghhh!"

The pitiful yell of fallen human warriors sounded out across the battlefield, festering a dismal atmosphere.

"Soldiers of the MSS, we are the RDF, don't falter! Fight your enemies and bring glory to our fallen comrades!"

A majestic voice on a speaker said, sounded across most of the vicinity; looking at its source, one would notice that giant battle aircraft that hovered above, launching barrages after a barrage of attacks towards a few Horde Carriers in its path.

At this summit of this aircraft were Alan, Angeline, Nelly, Hank, and Thomas. Each decked out in their battle gears and wore items no different from medieval fiction except for Nelly, who wore what seemed similar to his usual overcoat. The only difference being its unique markings and his two modified guns strapped to his waist.

The clothes on their armors and getups fluttered wildly due to the surrounding winds, giving them a grand air.

Much like Alan's team, the leaders belonging to the other forces said similar phrases to their units, such as the Fierce Tiger's Akim Mureithi, along with the Setting Sun's Three Elites, Tanaka Bairei, Masuda Ayako, Lian Qigang, and the Evening Butcher Viktor from the Butcher Brigade

As if feeling even more inspired by their words, the soldiers that were feeling a bit dismal showed even firmer looks, their eyes behind their combat advisers, having a sharpened spirit as charged towards the army of Flesh Mutators on land.

"Kill them all!"

A few shouted as they drew out special weapons and fired them towards the Flesh Mutators. With them were many other Ascenders lone parties that unleashed killing skills, sending blade rays, sword beams, magic attacks, and an assortment of other bizarre and unique methods.

Yet, despite the humans' overwhelming effort, the enemies still seemed endless; the Horde Carriers that managed to avoid destruction from the aircraft dripped a continuous stream of tissue onto the ground forming into multitudes of flesh mutators.

When they saw this, Allan's faces, along with the other military leading warriors, turned stern, as if by instinct, they shifted their eyes towards the gigantic Horde Carriers behind a new massive carrier with clusters of flying type Flesh Mutators guarding it.

Observing closely, they saw that on the carrier, Xakkok, who stood calmly with his patterned robe had a mocking and confident look on his face, countless tentacles had spread out from his body, some attaching to the carrier below his feet, while the rest had connected to the closest carriers, forcing them to work in unison.

"How troublesome... we might have a tough battle ahead of us," Alan said.

"Indeed, but isn't this just like old times?" Nelly added from nearby, his manner now a bit more severe than usual as it peered at the distance.

"Haha... those days, I guess you're right," Alan said with a slightly fond but recollective look on his face,

"Instructor Al, do you have any ideas about how we can approach that bastard?" Angeline asked as she saw the scene.

Alan shook his head before he replied with a slightly helpless tone, "None in the slightest..."

When Angeline heard this, her forehead started to run with sweat; Alan looked at her with a teasing smile before he quickly replied, "Haha, still a bit of a worrywart I see, come now, it's not like there isn't anything we can do, and we aren't alone either."

As Alan said this, he pressed a button on his watch, causing the faces of Akim and the other leaders to appear. He didn't waste another moment as he spoke, "The enemy has a controller type monster amongst their ranks. It's likely that if we can take him down, we can hinder the Horde Carriers to a certain extent. Does anyone have any ideas?"

The other leaders remained silent for a while before Akim spoke in his accented voice, "I might have a solution,"

"Oh, do tell," Alan said with a bright light in his eyes; the others also looked on with expectation as Akim nodded and promptly began to explain a strategy.

Still, while this was happening, it didn't seem like those on the side of the Flesh Mutators weren't going to let them have it so easily.

Xakkok looked at the human leaders with a disdainful gaze as he chuckled while speaking to himself, "Haha, such foolish creatures, do they think that they can get past my assimilated formation? Even if they did, so what? What can mere humans do to my existence?"

Xakkok said in an arrogant tone, listening to his manner; Khenul, and Hugrils, showed no trace of expression as they too were like this by nature; the only different ones were none other than Candrons and Ekver.

Candrons clicked his teeth, expressing his discontent while Ekver had a flicker in his eyes, but he said nothing; it seemed he was a character that liked to keep his thoughts unknown.

"Hey, look, I get it that you feel strong and whatnot, but we can't afford to fail mother's expectations, so I suggest we do something in the event of the unexpected."

Xakkok frowned at this; he didn't like Candrons one bit, always speaking out of turn and saying strange things. He was about to admonish him and remind him of who the leader was, but before that could happen, the simple-minded Hugrils spoke out in the agreement.

"I think Candrons is right; I see no reason the stay back, haha! I say we should crush them with our full power right from the start!" He spoke as if shouting, with his heavy voice and laugher resounding about their carrier.

Khenul showed a thoughtful look as she nodded in silence, expressions her agreement; Ekver looked at them before turning away, showing no response.

'Che! That bastard looks like I can only give-in this time.'

Xakkok thought inwardly; he then looked at the others as a sly grin formed on his face when he spoke in a voice that could chill any human mind.

"I have the perfect plan."
