Chapter 220: One Side's Victory, Clash Against Equal Foes
Chapter 220: One Side's Victory, Clash Against Equal Foes
As the scene within the City of Hope had taken another drastic turn. The battle within the forest areas a distance away from the city had already arrived at its conclusion. If one observed the forest from afar, they would see clusters of flames in a few areas, as the forestland was ruined beyond recognition, there were ultra-thin wires wrapped across the towering trees.
A few hung loosely as if they as around them; one would notice a few large holes plunged into both the earth and the tree trunks, even the most distant boulders had holes of various sizes.
Traveling further into the forest, one would eventually come across a fascinating scene as the corpse of giant mosquito of incredible proportions was lying lifelessly inside of a deep ditch.
Its body was filled with countless holes from a myriad of wounds, some large while the majority were small as if they came from numerous sharp arrows.
It laid in what was now a pool of its blood, looking no different from a small lake as a few individuals sat on top of trees a few meters away from it, each with a somewhat haggard look their faces.
"Godddd daaaammmnn... that was not fun!" Joe said while wiping the sweat from his soggy face; he leaned back in an utterly exhausted manner, seeming to be unable to move a single step.
Looking at him more closely, one would notice that out of everyone in the group; he was the one with the most injuries as his body was covered in blood.
Luckily for him though, Layla was already casting her Life Spell to heal his wounds, her purplish energy covering his body as it speedily allowed him to recover.
Breya gave him a look before she stared at Emilia who now had a slightly tired appearance, she asked, "Emmy, how are you holding up?"
Emilia took a deep breath to stabilize her condition as she spoke with a thumbs up, "I'm fine, I only overused my Spiritual Power a bit on those arrows, I should be able to fight again in about a minute."
Breya nodded while thinking, 'That mosquito was certainly a freak, especially since we had to fight it at two levels below it. Regardless, it still provided us enough rewards...'
As Breya thought to here, she glanced at everyone, noticing that they each had a few new gears, Rick who stood at the tallest tree branch while gazing in a specific direction was also holding onto a new spear.
As if he noticed her gaze, Rick looked down before he jumped and skilfully landed nearby the group as he spoke, "We should be ready now, what's the next plan?"
At this time, Layla had already finished healing Joe who was stretching, she stared at Rick and Breya before speaking, "Aren't we going to help Evan?"
Emilia also nodded, as she looked at Rick and Breya wondering why he asked such a question, Breya looked at them before speaking, "That's only part of it, Evan should be able to fight that queen by himself. As such, we had privately discussed a few plans before separation. One, two of us can separate and go back to help those out in the city, while the rest go and assist Evan, and second, we can have the fastest of us go and check out the circumstances in the city while the rest of us hurry over to Evan's side. Which do you all prefer?"
Layla, Joe, Emilia, and Rick remained silent for a while, carefully thinking it over. After a short while, they looked at each other as if they made up their mind and spoke, "Let's go with option one."
Breya nodded, knowing that this was the better choice. After a bit of discussion, everyone decided that the fastest being Rick and herself would naturally go back to the city, Joe, Emilia, and Layla would head over to Evan's side.
Once everything was decided, Breya looked at them and spoke, "Alright, now that we've decided, it's time to get going, remember to keep a lookout for those of the Bee Army, we can't be certain that they won't make a move much like those of the mosquito army."
"Right," Layla and the others replied with a sharp look in their eyes before they each hurriedly left the area.
Swoosh! Their bodies blurred as they moved at alarming speeds towards two different areas, vanishing behind the cover of ruin forestland.

Within the region of the mountains, one which had a clear lake in the verdant valleys below it, a startling change had occurred.
The once beautiful scenery had transformed into a desolate land as massive rocks had rained down from the mountain, crashing into the earth and the rivers and running the ground.
Bang! At this moment, a startling collision was heard as if two giants were smashing into each other. The power behind it sent shockwaves about, pushing more boulders away at crazy speeds, each of which was no different from a disaster to nearby forestry and wildlife.
As if the shockwave wasn't enough of a hazard, a terrifying cluster of blood-colored mana and crimson energies crashed into each other, scattering about to create a disaster in a few areas as they erupted into explosions.
Suddenly, the energies faded as two figures separated a few meters distance. One of them gracefully flapped her wings as her body halted in the air, as the other did a simple flip before floating backward and landing on a mountain top.
The winds from the surroundings blew across them, rustling their hair as they gazed at each other in a standoff, preparing for the next encounter.
'She's a lot stronger than I thought... that's good. I can use this chance to test my current prowess, how strong am I against such a famous monster amongst those Superior Tier Mutants? I guess there's only one way to find out' Evan thought with a peculiar glint in his eyes as a smile was on his face.
Marlin saw that Evan had a smirk on his face, even after that fierce collision that was only a warm-up used to gauge his abilities. She frowned while contemplating, 'This human... he's far more than I expected, hehe... hmm~ his blood should be even more delicious than I can imagine, its benefits far exceeding my initial ponderings. It's best to crush him now and drink some immediately...'
After thinking those thoughts, Marlin's eyes glowed in a sinister blood-red light as she chuckled and spoke, "Human, you did well to put up a decent fight for so long, but now... I'm afraid that our battle must come to an end, Blood Mana Blade"
As Marlins said this, her body erupted with another dense amount of Blood Mana power that caused her hair to sway about as she stretched her palms to the side and conjured two blood-colored blades.
Evan's face turned a bit solemn, but his smile didn't fade; instead, he increased his grip on his Void Blade and Havengaurd, causing his Battle Energy to swirl around it he prepared to unleash his deadliest moves.
"Ha, I couldn't say it any better... let's begin the second round..." Evan said as his body similar exploded with his Battle Energy as he was prepared to fight with his full power.
The duo's energies rose again, sending another set of ripples about the area as their battle had entered its real beginning.
