Chapter 84 - This One
"What do you think of the outfit?" Lena's sudden approach caught Samuel off guard as he had been trying to see where she was at, but hadn't caught her from the direction that she approached in as it was in his blind. Turning to face her, he took a moment to take her in before he replied.
"I think that it looks good on you, really compliments you hair." He replied, his expression as he looked her over told her that he was being earnest in his response.
"Do you think that I would look too mismatched wearing this next to you in that outfit?" He then asked concerned that maybe the emerald green suit he had picked wouldn't be a good choice with the rose gold chiffon dress she was wearing.
"I couldn't chose between this and a dark blue suit and was recommend that I come ask you and see what you had in mind to wear.". The princess looked him over thoughtful as she considered whether the suit he was wearing would be a good fit with her own dress. She didn't think it would look bad, although she could tell that she was also going to have to get his suit modified as it looked a touch too baggy on his rather thin frame.
"I don't think that it would be a bad mismatched fit. I think that it would even go with the wedding rings. Once we go to get them adjusted we can double check and see if they are a good fit." The princess replied with a slight nod of her head. A small smirk appeared on her face when she saw the way that Samuel was staring at her. She was certain that he had heard what she said, but he also seemed really absorbed in starting at the dress that she was wearing.
"What, you like what you see that much?" She teased, shifting her hair back slightly so that it was more behind her rather than resting over her shoulder.
"I was thinking that it I don't often see you with your hair like that and it's a rather nice look for you." Samuel asked, feeling a little awkward after he realized he probably had been staring at her too long. He wasn't lying though, it was a nice different look for her from the normal way she let her hair just flow behind her.
"I don't generally keep my hair pulled back because I don't generally have a reason to." The princess said as she ran her hand over her pulled back hair. She also didn't generally bother as she felt like it was a hassle to take the extra step to do instead of just letting it be.
"Well I happen to think that it suits you, especially in that dress. Maybe you would be willing to keep it like that during the engagement party?"
"Making requests now are you? I could be imagining it, but it seems like someone is getting more confident in being straight forward about what they want, little chickadee." The princess commented a touch of amusement in her voice. Perhaps it was the fact that they were going to be getting officially engaged soon that was bringing out the confidence more in him.
"Is it bad to make such requests? You did say that I would have part of the say in how the engagement party went since it is ours." He replied, he didn't think that he was being too forward in his request since he saw something that he liked.
"Not at all." The princess replied as she turned away from him to head back towards the dressing room.
"I'm just amused in how much your confidence is growing compared to that shy, timid boy that I met just over a month ago now." turning her head to look at him, she smirked slightly.
"Perhaps I have underestimated the person you are hiding under that veil of shy trepidation." she disappeared in the dressing room to change while Samuel stood there slightly surprised. He didn't think that he was behaving that much differently from before? Maybe the princess was acting that way because he was getting more comfortable around her and his normal personality was coming out more because he didn't feel like he needed to monitor what he said?
Lena didn't feel the need to try on any of the other dresses as she determined that the rose gold chiffon dress would be good for the engagement party. She would just need to get it altered. Jill had also found her two good pairs of shoes she thought would fit with the dress along with a necklace and earring set while the two had been talking. She had also told Samuel not to worry about checking the other suit out, she felt that the emerald one was the one that suited him best and he should stick with it.
"If I had known that you were going to be so quick to go and change, I would've taken a picture beforehand. I think my parents would've liked to see what we would be wearing." He commented as they head out to the car.
"We can do it when we come back to try them on again after they have been modified." The princess replied as she got into the car where Romeo had been patiently waiting for them.
"Is everything finished princess and time to head home?" Romeo asked as he started up the car.
"Actually no, I would like you to take me to the hospital that Clive and his wife are staying in. I would like to pay them a visit and see how they are doing before heading home." She replied as she put her seatbelt on.
"As you wish then." He confirmed before setting the car to be navigated to the hospital. Looking out the window, he noticed that there were a lot more people out than there had been when they first entered the boutique.
"I have a question out of curiosity." He told Lena turning to look at her, she glanced at him to let him know he had her attention but didn't turn from looking out her own window.
"Do a lot of people not know who you are outside of the business world. I mean like how you put, from the underground side. Do people not know who you are affiliated with?" He asked, fumbling with his words as he tried to think of the best way to ask the question.
"You're trying to ask whether or not the general public know that I am the soon-to-be successor of the Red Scorpions?" Lena clarified to which Samuel confirmed as the question he was trying to ask.
"The answer is yes and no. Some people do know because we technically "own" this whole area around. Not in the sense that we control everything that goes on, but if anyone wants to connect with the underground side of things, they go through us." She explained.
"So of course people know who I am, but they don't make a big deal out of it because we aren't thugs in the sense that people feel the need to cower around us or keep a wide berth. I'm not that well known yet either though to the general public yet being only 18. That will probably change though once we have the engagement party. My father on the other hand is one with the reputation that turns heads."
"What kind of reputation?" Samuel then asked though he presumed that it was one that explained the intense aura he seemed to have about himself.
"Let's just say that he used to be far less tolerable and generous compared to the person that he is now." The princess replied. She didn't say too much about it partly because she didn't know everything herself and partly because she didn't feel that it was her place to tell her father's story.
"Speaking of the business though, there is some work that I need to take care of tomorrow so I won't be around much. I asked Clarice to come in for an extra day of training since tomorrow is a light day." This news caught Samuel off-guard.
"I thought that I was going to be coming with you whenever you had to go into work so that I could help with the finances?" He asked feeling confused by the sudden change.
"Most of the time you will be, but tomorrow what I need to do is something that I need to be able to focus on without any extra distractions. Plus I thought that you said you have this goal to be my equal by the time of the engagement party? Extra training will help you get there faster." The princess commented diverting the conversation away from why he wouldn't be coming with her.
"Plus, I think my father will be around tomorrow as well so maybe you can talk to him about going to college." She suggested though she wasn't certain what kind of mood her father would be in tomorrow or that night in fact since they would be talking later.
