Chapter 106: Wacky Calculators
Wang Qi’s respect for the seniors grew as he witnessed Daoist Proscribe’s statue, as did the rest of the students.
There were only a few other statues beside Daoist Proscribe that enjoyed the same honor of being placed closer to the path running through the Reaching Heaven Palace. The closest would be his senior brother, Daoist Indisputable Pauli, a hint behind him. Walking nearer to the entrance, one would find Quantum Grandmaster Bohr.
Across from him was Supreme Lord Einstein, with a part of his statue on the main path of the palace, unlike Transcendent, who had more than half. But he deserved it. The statues of Quantum Grandmaster and Supreme Lord took a fighting stance, neither backing down.
Ripple Heavenly Lord Schrödinger stood next to the Supreme Lord, closely followed by Arbiter of Arithmetic Hilbert. Myriad Arts Sect’s Warped Demon Riemann and Arithmetic King Gauss stood on the same side. While facing Hilbert was Lord of Arithmetic Poincare, fighting over the Myriad Arts Sect Leader position.
A bit further were the twin stars of Myriad Arts Sect, Crazed Sword Lagrange, and Lord White Marsh Laplace. Ingenious Valley’s Twin Helix Lords, Radiant Divinity Pavilion’s Twin Saints, and Drifting Cloud Sect’s Twin Prides were also in opposition. Gene Ancestor Mendel held 24 peas, Sacred Heavenly Sword Oppenheimer leaned on his sword, and Photoelectric Walker Hertz asked for guidance from Unified Arts Maxwell across. Six Dragon Controller Langevin disgustedly accepted Laser Madam Marie Curie’s heavy pats.
Here were the symbols of modern cultivation. The palace encompassed the legacy of modern cultivation and Dao’s relentless pursuit.
The longer he stayed here, the better Wang Qi felt.
Mao Zimiao, who walked beside him, noticed his look and asked, “Little Qi, what are you smiling about, nya? Not even the mirage play we just watched got you so intrigued.”
Wang Qi shook his head.
[I loved using Earth scientists’ stories to encourage me back home. I never imagined I’d be just as excited over their counterparts in this world as well.][How should I put it? A bookworm shines always!]
Wang Qi was enjoying the tour of Reaching Heaven Palace when suddenly, the lights went out.
[Power outage?] Wang Qi barely kept the retort to himself. Thunderous Pavilion once had someone known as Mad Lightning Blaze Edison developing countless electrical magical arts, but Divine Province’s cultivation community didn’t use electricity. Spiritual energy powered the palace’s lights. The spiritual energy in the headquarters cycled endlessly, preventing these magic items from running out.
This cycle established a connection with the defensive array outside. The stop of headquarters’ spiritual energy cycle paralyzed the entire Argent Apex.
The sudden blackout sent the freshmen into a panic. Reaching Heaven Palace was filled with whispers.
Mao Zimiao clutched onto Wang Qi. “Little Qi, what’s happening, nya?”
Wang Qi took a deep breath. “Calm down. Even if some ultimate demon or something attacks the Immortal Alliance headquarters, it’s not like we can do anything about…”
Before he could finish, the lights came back on.
[Eh? A technical malfunction then?]
A Golden Core cultivator rushed in, shouting, “Disciples, due to an incident in the Immortal Alliance, the tour is over! Please follow the Foundation Establishment teaching assistants out in an orderly fashion!”
The teaching assistants led the freshmen away, tolerating no ruckus in the solemn Reaching Heaven Palace.
Wang Zhenqi ran over from Spirit Beast Mountain’s Unfettered Pavlov’s statue, screaming, “Ah’Miao! Wang Qi! Are you okay, wan?”
Mao Zimiao smiled and waved at the dog girl demonborn, “Over here, nya!”
Wang Zhenqi ran to them, only to jerk to a halt a few feet away, a playful smile on her face.
“Nya?” Mao Zimiao cocked her head. The cateared girl felt movement in her right hand.
It dawned on her that she was holding Wang Qi’s hand.
“Nya!” The cateared girl’s shriek echoed throughout the palace.
Immortal Alliance headquarters, immortal mirror secret room.
The location was right beneath the Reaching Heaven Palace, the heart of Immortal Alliance headquarters. The secret room wasn’t big, with a magic altar that could seat a few dozen people. On the altar was a copper mirror, one of the nine sub-items of the All-immortal Mirror, the Argent Apex Mirror. All the cultivators here belonged to the Myriad Arts Sect, responsible for operating the mirror.
Moments after the incident, Chen Jingyun slid into the secret room out of nowhere. The incident wasn’t limited to Reaching Heaven Palace; the entire headquarters suffered from the blackout. Everything tied to the All-immortal Realm was dead.
The lowest cultivation to manage the sub-All-immortal Mirror was Primordial Spirit, able to see without needing light. The Myriad Arts Sect cultivators noticed Chen Jingyun and scrambled to greet him. He didn’t have the leisure to return the greeting, walking to the altar and putting his hand on the Argent Apex Mirror. Threads of spiritual power entered the mirror, and countless mathematical symbols flashed through his eyes.
Normal operations at the Immortal Alliance headquarters resumed as if nothing had happened.
Chen Jingyun frowned. He only had inspected the event and nothing else.
An image appeared before Chen Jingyun. “You can stop looking. All-immortal Realm experienced no change. The Argent Apex Mirror is also undamaged.”
The man inspected Argent Apex’s core calculator faster than Chen Jingyun could.
The cultivators believed the image, greeting, “Master Neumann.”
People’s Champion Neumann, the pioneer of calculators, earned the respect of all delving into calculators and the All-immortal Realm by calling him master.
Chen Jingyun roamed his eyes over the Primordial Spirit cultivators. Neumann shook his head. “It’s not them—maybe a devil or an ancient cultivator. The All-immortal Realm shows no signs of an arithmetic attack.”
Chen Jingyun was humble in his request. “Please instruct me, Master Neumann.”
Neumann sent his intent through All-immortal Realm to form this image since he was too far away to come in person. It didn’t curb Chen Jingyun’s respect for the man in the least. Neumann’s discoveries in arithmetics were unquestionable and worthy of respect.
Neumann sighed. “The Argent Apex Mirror suffered a disruption in the computational cycle.”
“Disruption?” Chen Jingyun’s heart sank.
“Correct.” Neumann’s image reached out to touch the mirror.
