Apocalypse Cockroach

Chapter 52: A Spear Is Used to Poke!

Chapter 52: A Spear Is Used to Poke!

The rebar Beast Horn Spear that had been twisted into a U-shape was thrown at her feet. Yang Ke’er turned her head wildly about, using her eyes to scan for signs of the D2.

Zhang Xiao Qiang could not bother further and went to the bag he had thrown to the ground. He took out an army canteen and gulped down the contents.

“That..where’s the BOSS?” Yang Ke’er asked in a small voice, sounding like a little kitten!

He turned around to roll his eyes, before lighting a cigarette, and taking a deep puff. He gazed at the smoke absentmindedly, his thoughts still on the ‘fight’ with the D2.

“That.... Uncle, you’re so formidable! You actually chased the BOSS away?” She tried to appease him while watching his expression carefully. The power play had swapped hands yet again.

“Weren’t you supposed to be powerful? Aren’t you the girl that had undergone transformations? Didn’t you want to represent the moon to punish it? How come you were there sleeping so soundly?” He questioned her, his feelings sullen.

Yang Ke’er had insisted on fighting instead of running, in the end, she had been taken out in one move.

If it wasn’t for Zhang Xiao Qiang piercing the chrysanthemum of the D2, Yang Ke’er could very well have ended up in its tummy!

If she had tried her best, he would have let it go. The crux of the matter was she had actually fallen asleep at its feet!

He had previously seen such cases in magazines and reports, but he didn’t expect to actually witness it today.

“That...that...? I also didn’t know! At that time, I just felt like my chest was suffocated, and my eyes went black, then I don’t know what happened next! Until you woke me up!”

Yang Ke’er tilted her head to a side as she tried to recollect her memories, but she could not understand why she had fallen asleep.

Seeing her confused look, Zhang Xiao Qiang sighed again: “The teenage girls nowadays, how did her teacher guide her?”

After finding two stones to support each other, she stuck the rebar Beast Horn Spear into the groove and used her strength to straighten the rebar again.

Seeing the rebar Beast Horn Spear being straightened out, Zhang Xiao Qiang’s mouth went agape.

“What’s that thing in your hand?”

“Uncle, didn’t you say, this was called the Beast Horn Spear?” Yang Ke’er looked at the spear in her hand before looking back at Zhang Xiao Qiang. She was a little confused about his words.

“You also know to call it a spear? Is a spear used to hammer?” Zhang Xiao Qiang was irritated. Having taken the pains to construct the Beast Horn Spear for her, she had used it as a mace.

“........” She lowered her head silently and felt aggrieved. Wasn’t it good that she could still hit the monster?

Seeing her adamant on not admitting her fault, Zhang Xiao Qiang felt his anger rising more. He took a few deep breaths and patted his face to cool down.

“Can you use the spear to smash it apart?” He pointed to the huge boulder beside her.

She eyed the boulder that was almost as high as her, and checked out the width that was not less than the height, and gulped before shaking her head.

“Try using it to thrust in.” He told her evenly.

Yang Ke’er raised her eyebrows in doubt but proceeded to do as he said.

With a ‘swish’, as though she had used a pair of chopsticks to pierce into tofu, 40% of the length of the beast horn went through easily. She was amazed and looked at the beast horn spear in her hand in disbelief.

“Do you understand now?” Zhang Xiao Qiang asked her as she pulled the spear out, revealing a huge bowl-sized hole in the boulder.

“..................”

Yang Ke’er still had a look of confusion and didn’t understand what he was trying to say.

Using his thumbs to massage his temples, he reminded himself: “Calm down, calm down. When you were her age, you were still catching loaches and fishing for frogs. Calm down!”

After a while, Zhang Xiao Qiang sighed out in exasperation, and looked at the bewildered Yang Ke’er and explained: “The Beast Horn Spear in your hand is capable of piercing through anything! Especially the spiral pattern of the Beast Horn, which allows it to go deeper. If you used the Beast Horn Spear to thrust at the D2 instead of smashing, you could have easily pierced its kneecap then its bone, and the D2 will be at your mercy!

Saying everything in one shot, Zhang Xiao Qiang was still red in the face. He had also just thought of these points, but even if he had known earlier, he didn’t have the strength like hers to pierce so deep.

“En,” She nodded, and truly understood now.

“But, it was you who asked me to smash in the first place!” Her voice traveled over, breaking the moment of satisfaction Zhang Xiao Qiang had at being able to guide her.

“En? When did I say that?” He replied it was his turn now to be confused.

“It was when I killed the first monster! You gave me the hammer!”

Yang Ke’er’s words cut deeply into his heart: “One can’t truly escape his sins!”

He decided not to pursue the matter and called her over as he walked towards the corpse of the D2.

“Wa! Uncle, you’re so awesome! You managed to kill the BOSS!”

She saw the headless corpse of the D2 that was slumped over, and was shocked. She could not understand how she had failed to hit it with her strength, but Zhang Xiao Qiang had managed to eliminate it.

“Go pull out my Beast Horn Spear.” He spoke up, pointing to the spear in the D2’s chrysanthemum.

“Ahh!!! So disgusting! Uncle, you’re too horrible! How can you stick this there, so dirty!”

She recoiled in horror at the order and tried to worm her way out of it.

“Fine, the next time we see a D2, I’ll just use yours.”

He threatened her.

“Alright alright! I’ll just go, why do you have to be so disgusting!”

She grumbled, and slowly inched her way towards the Beast Horn Spear stuck up the D2’s bum.

She sang “Chrysanthemum Terrace” at the side, as Zhang Xiao Qiang held it. The head of the spear still looked as clean as new, and under the sunlight, it seemed to flash as though it was alive.

Seeing the beast horn, Zhang Xiao Qiang still felt uncomfortable. He had used water to wash it a few times and even used some white wine to disinfect it. It still felt wrong, though, there was no choice, the spear had been stuck up a place that the sun had not shone before.

After refueling the tractor, it came to life, and they started driving towards the bridge once again.
