Chapter 926 T.D.O.N.B: S7A, Part I - The Quick Start
With a grave mood, not speaking at all, the four of us crossed the portal on the orbit and emerged right next to a lonely planet in the whole system. The star seemed to be white, maybe with a little bit of blue.
The light could only reach one part of the giant piece of rock. The other half was dark, at least on the outside. The bright side had one massive dome, taking almost all of the space, while the dark side had multiple very big ones.
It was clear what our destination was. We headed there not wasting any time, ready to finish what we started. I guess I was the only one who was kinda nervous. Not about myself but about Will and Nobuo. The two of them seemed weirdly calm, though.
I really wanted to send them back, but It was obvious that they wouldn't listen.
As we were approaching the dome, at a high speed, Druoag said:
- We will create chaos for you, and keep them busy. Just take the fruit as fast as you possibly can.
Arguing with him was pointless. I knew that much from the start. Still, I didn't want to agree to his plan.
"It's better to ask for forgiveness later", I thought to myself, getting ready to fight alongside all of them from the start.
We passed through the dome at a very high speed. The air around us was burning, so it was actually hard to see anything. Thanks to my mind's vision I was able to notice what was incoming, although only at a short distance. That allowed me to at least avoid a bit of the magic, that was being thrown at us.
- I'm landing! We can't make it to the plaza! - I announced, then brought us down slowing abruptly.
All of them hit the upper part of the dome, being thrown there by a sudden change of direction, then smashed into the opposite part as I slowed down abruptly.
The city below looked kinda like a single massive construction. Everything seemed to be connected with tunnels and corridors for transportation. You could see tiny luxurious apartments on the top part of the structure, with less grandiose ones the lower you looked.
All of that was actively being destroyed by the fire pouring down from the sky, accompanied by shards of ice and lightning bolts. Complete chaos that did more bad than good.
I popped the bubble shortly before landing. Everybody somehow dealt with still the high speed, at which they were ejected.
Will was able to stop himself in midair, spreading a wide barrier of swords above his head to protect himself. Druoag just crashlanded in front of a big tunnel filled with artificial light, where he immediately run to take cover.
Nobuo ended up slightly higher, on a terrace. His landing was more gracious, as he rolled to lose some of the kinetic energy, then slid on the concrete to get rid of the rest before jumping down to take cover in the same tunnel.
I shot straight up, jumping. Using plates made out of void essence to king myself off, then repeated it to go above the construction, to reach the positions the guardians were shooting at us from.
They had to somehow know that most of us were hiding, and only I was in the sky because much less stuff went my way. I avoided it with relative ease, approaching a row of soldiers flying around the plaza ahead.
From the distance, they looked like small dots. If not for my eyes being a biological miracle, I wouldn't notice that at all, but since I had such great vision, I was able to. My goal became to get to them as soon as possible and cut their ranks to a satisfying number - zero.
Moving at incredible speed, to the point I was on fire, I closed the distance t the point I was able to distinguish the shapes of the aliens.
They all seemed quite a thing. Had small heads and four long arms with only two legs. Some of them had wings of different shapes and colors. Clearly, something acquired from the device, others were straight-up levitating, and a couple, usually in groups, did stand on platforms made out of some type of energy.
With flashes of Martin kneeling with that damn big smile on his head, and the blood covering his face I knew that this time I needed to take most of this damn responsibility on myself. I needed to keep my friends away from the overwhelming numbers of strong opponents.
This led me to attack quite hard. I shoved them all with a burst of telekinetic powers, trying to gather as many as I could in a single spot. A lot of them were moved, but there were a few who resisted.
My attack was too wide to make them move.
I increased my speed, heading straight at that concentration of enemy forces, ready to tear them apart, but they didn't just wait for me either. I was attacked by true chaos. Everything was thrown my way to the point I could only see a mix of colors everywhere around.
Knowing the direction, I ignored these waves of energy that definitely would take down others. Maybe even Druoag. This allowed me to close the distance, which led to the guardians stopping their attack.
The city below, matching my trajectory, was completely trashed. A melted mark of still boiling mix of materials used to build the agglomeration.
It was wide, very wide. Fortunately, the location wasn't matching the route my friends were supposed to take, so I was calm about their whereabouts. With a clear mind, I attacked, using some Ki to strengthen my body and tear apart as many aliens as I possibly could.
With speed so fast, that it awfully looked like I was teleporting, I tore through several opponents. They had no chance with how powerful my body was thanks to all those fruits and upgrades.
They couldn't possibly match me. At least not until the strongest ones swarmed me. Those were the ones I originally wasn't able to move.
"Up to fifty my ass", I thought to myself remembering the words of The Great One.
