Chapter 140 - Generosity
It was temporary because it couldn't last very long.Â
The fusion was an extremely crude combination of their energy, and the amount of energy that Liz'An would lose in the process was so huge that the only reason that they could even fuse temporarily this way was because Liz'An's energy was almost endless.Â
She could afford the energy loss!
That's why it was her who sent her energy into Wywy, and it was Wywy who ended up casting the spells.Â
GRAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Wywy roared out in exhilaration as he felt Liz'An's arcane energy fill him to the brim.Â
"NOW THIS IS POWER!!!" He thought maniacally. He opened his massive maw and breathed out an utterly fearsome dragon breath that instantly melted thousands of unlucky undead caught in its area of effect.Â
"Get a grip of yourself." Liz'An sternly reminded Wywy. "Our real enemies are those two giant skeleton monsters."
"Yes, Mistress!" Wywy roared in excitement.Â
Wywy flapped its wings hard and began to make its way higher into the sky. With so much power at hand, Wywy didn't want his spells to spillover and affect his minions. However, before it could fly very far, a massive body suddenly appeared above him!
"DODGE RIGHT!" Liz'An screamed.Â
Wywy obeyed Liz'An immediately by reflex and managed to avoid a horrifying physical attack by one of the Giant Skeleton Mages who had managed to blink into Wywy's path!
However, Alexander did not give it the name Giant Skeleton Mage for nothing. It's main form of attack was not physical attack, although it was also very deadly with it. It's main form of attack was its fire spells, which it immediately released upon realizing that it had missed its surprise attack.
BOOMM!!!
An intense explosion rippled out from the Giant Skeleton Mage and engulfed both Liz'An and Wywy in searing hot orange flames.
Just as the Giant Skeleton Mage was about to gloat over its victory, Liz'an and Wywy burst out of the fiery sphere looking totally unharmed. Not even a singe could be seen on their bodies.Â
Around Liz'An and Wywy, a white barrier glowed brightly.
*-*-*-*-*-*
"WHAT?!?! SHE IS A WHITE ARCHMAGE NOW??" Alexander screeched like an old chicken being slaughtered. "THAT'S A WHITE BARRIER! She's a white archmage!!"
"Why, yes she is. Didn't I tell you that?" Dubaza frowned lightly. "I must be getting old. How could I forget to inform you of such a momentous event? Tsk tsk! I need to eat more fruits!"
"Ea-eat more fruits?!" Alexander sputtered in anger.Â
"Indeed." Blackfire frowned lightly as well. "It beggars the mind how we could be so forgetful! Liz'An donning the white was such a glorious event! Did you say fruits, Dubaza? Sign me up for a few tons as well. I have a feeling that I will need to eat more fruits to improve my memory."
Alexander's mouth twitched as he stared at Blackfire speechlessly. A BLACK FIRE DRAGON planning to eat fruits? Alexander felt like screaming "EAT FRUITS YOUR MOTHER! YOU'RE A DRAGON! YOUR MOTHER IS A DRAGON! YOUR FATHER AUNTIES UNCLES ARE ALL DRAGONS! THEY HAVE NEVER THOUGHT OF EATING FRUITS, NOT ONCE IN THE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF THEIR COMBINED LIVES!" But somehow the words died in his mouth, smothered into silence by his tsunami-level indignance.
Blackfire looked at Alexander's gloomy expression and said, "Well, I know that if you actually knew that Liz'An was a white archmage, you might have designed the Giant Skeleton Mage slightly differently'¦"
"YOU THINK??" Alexander finally managed to roar out.
"But how different would it be? Think about it, you've already placed Liz'An on the Yellow grade, right? White is just a small tier above it! It's nothing much, really." Blackfire conveniently contradicted his earlier claim of being absolutely proud of Liz'An's "glorious event". "Plus, you've already had a chance to test out her power! And you've made your own adjustments to the TWO Giant Skeleton Mages. I think our bet is still fair. What do you think, Dubaza?"
"I agree. It is extremely fair." Dubaza nodded vigorously in agreement.Â
"That settles it then. The bet is still on!" Blackfire declared.
"Hmmmm." Dubaza agreed.
"... '¦ ROBBERS! YOU BOTH ARE ROBBERS!" Alexander cried out.Â
*-*-*-*-*-*
Liz'An stared at the grotesque skeletal monsters warily as they slowly positioned themselves to her left and right. Their movements were much better than the previous one's. Plus, there were two this time. If she didn't go all out, she might not be able to deal with them quickly. And at that moment, speed was the key.Â
Liz'An immediately gave Wywy a mental command to attack using his most powerful attack on the left monster!Â
BLINK! SLASH!!!
Wywy blinked to a spot behind the Giant Skeleton Mage and unleashed a vicious slash that was infused with fire and wind energy! A massive crescent wave of wind and fire buried the spot where the Giant Skeleton Mage was.
WHOOSH!!!!Â
However, his attack hit nothing but air. The Giant Skeleton Mage managed to blink away in time!
BLINK!!
Wywy immediately blinked away once more just as a fearsome fireball exploded above him!
GRAHHHHH!!!!
Wywy roared out in defiance at the two Giant Skeleton Mages!
He had tried close distance attacks and failed. It was time to be smarter and try long distance attacks instead. Immediately, Wywy released hundreds of powerful tornadoes that swirled with ever increasing speed around him. The tornadoes were powered by Wywy and Liz'An's combined arcane might and were so powerful that the sky around Wywy became a no-man's land.Â
It was filled with ferocious winds that exceeded thousands of kilometers per hour and turned even the smallest rocks into powerful projectiles that could smash apart thick fortress walls as though they were mere eggshells.
The hundreds of tornadoes created incredible powerful suction forces that criss-crossed all over. Anybody caught within the web of tornadoes would immediately be ripped apart and the pieces sucked into the various tornadoes.Â
To make things worse, Liz'An also released thousands upon thousands of compressed ice shards into the area, and the number was only increasing by the second as Liz'An continued to pour in the ice shards! Even if the suction forces failed to rip the mages apart, the ice shards would definitely do the job.Â
The two Giant Skeleton Mages charged into the tornadoes and towards Wywy and Liz'an fearlessly, their powerful magic shields shimmering a glorious yellow colour. Their orders were simple. Attack the enemy! There was nothing mentioned about defense or survival. Whatever happened, whatever lay before them, their only prerogative was to'¦ ATTACK!
They lasted exactly five seconds. Three seconds to rip their barriers to shreds. Two seconds to destroy them into smithereeens.Â
"Withdraw ten miles immediately." Liz'An's voice thundered across the entire battlefield.Â
Immediately, the Wyvern Riders obeyed. They had long learnt the hard way that instant obedience in the battlefield meant that they would be spared from ferocious beatings by Wywy later after the training session was over.Â
Within seconds, the entire battlefield was devoid of Wyvern Riders.Â
Liz'An waved her hand downwards and the tornadoes filled with deadly and highly compressed ice shards fell upon the undead like a white apocalypse.Â
Liz'An allowed the powerful winds and ice shards to churn every single thing in the battlefield to mush for a full minute before dispelling her spell.Â
Indeed, nothing remained of the mighty undead host that had stretched so proudly into the horizon.Â
*-*-*-*-*
Dubaza shot Blackfire a look that clearly said, "You do it."
Blackfire frowned and shot Dubaza a look that said, "Why me? YOU do it!"Â
"Ehm." Alexander coughed lightly. "I am very impressed."
"Liz'An is indeed very impressive, Your Majesty. Worthy of being a general of your armies." Dubaza replied smoothly even as he glared at Blackfire.
"Yes, I am very impressed by Liz'An. But even more than that, I am extremely impressed by the soldiers! That tactical repositioning that they executed at the end'¦ FLAWLESS! I have never seen such rapid and near-instant execution of orders given in the heat of battle before! I have always taught that in battle, a general must always give clear orders. But the flipside must be true as well! In battle, soldiers must always and IMMEDIATELY obey orders! These soldiers have proven that they were able to do exactly that. Excellent! Excellent indeed! Well done, Dubaza! Well done, Blackfire!" Alexander's eyes gleamed.Â
"Thank you for your generous compliments, Your Majesty. Still, it has to be noted that their immediate response were for an order for retreat. Their response for an order to charge towards armed and overwhelmingly fearsome enemies remain as yet untested." Blackfire replied very objectively.Â
"Indeed. I had wanted to put that to the test. But some old fogeys conveniently forgot to tell me that Liz'An is a white archmage." Alexander frowned as he got reminded of the treachery that occurred earlier.
"Ah yes, for that matter'¦" Dubaza began.
"We believe that it would be in ALL of our best interests to ah, reduce the bet by seventy-" Blackfire began.
"FIFTY." Dubaza interrupted firmly.
"FIFTY percent so as not to give you too much pressure, Your Majesty.." Blackfire said generously.Â
