Chapter 134 - Huh?
"Because you've killed one before." Alexander nodded in awe.
"Not by myself, and not without cost. But essentially, yes. I have had a hand in killing a God before." Regis Darkbane agreed. "The crux is in the Spark of Divinity. Once that Spark is snuffed out, the God will lose his endless source of power. Killing him would only be a matter of time."
"How do you 'snuff' out a Spark of Divinity? Especially as mortals?" Aleyria asked curiously.
"Mortals are not able to do that. Only Gods can kill each other. Blytoros, at great risk to himself, imbued a spear with his own Spark of Divinity. He entrusted it to his most loyal retainer, King Raya and got him to support Golora in the war. The two Gods battled with all they had, and during a superheated moment of the battle, King Raya managed to stab the clueless Haju with the spear, snuffing out his Spark of divinity. At that moment, Golora's victory was as good as set in stone. However, King Raya stabbed his spear out a second time and snuffed out Golora's Spark too. And at that moment, Blytoros appeared and easily killed them both before the Elder Gods could be informed.
However, due to some freak 'accident', King Raya and most of the other Kings involved in the battle died. Only a handful of the weaker ones like me survived. And so just like that, our realm lost two Gods. "
"What a vicious and cunning God." Aleyria murmured.
"Exactly! For Blytoros, that is high praise indeed! He is a vicious and cunning God. With that move, he had solidified his position as an equal with the two factions! Though weaker in power, but not at all weaker in significance." Regis Darkbane smiled widely.
"Why don't the two Gods just kill him off?" Caerose muttered loudly. "What an irritating God!"
"They cannot. The Realm of Darkness cannot afford a further weakening of their top tier combatants. The Realm of Sin, which is below us, is eyeing us the way you are doing right now. The only difference is, they are much, much stronger than you guys are." Regis Darkbane explained.
"How so?" Alexander asked.
"They have seven Gods." Regis Darkbane replied.
"Hmmm. That's actually great news." Alexander said with a contemplative look. "So all we need to do is start a war and tie up a huge chunk of the forces that the Realm of Darkness have while they grapple with the invasion from the Realm of Sin. The key is the timing. We need to start the war soon enough so that they won't have time to finalize and put into motion any of their plans to invade us, but not so soon that they can wipe us out before the invasion from the Realm of Sin begins."
"I have a question. If the denizens of the Realm of Darkness are so suppressed in our Realm, why should we even worry about them invading us?" Caerose asked in confusion.
"They must have found a way to either neutralize the effects of the suppression or to lift the enchantment entirely." Aleyria replied. "My senses are not wrong. There are at least a hundred gaps between our realm and the Realm of Darkness, and even at this moment, there are thousands pouring into our realm every minute. Not enough to pose much of a threat now, but definitely a prelude to something bigger. "
"As expected of the most beautiful Princess Aleyria!" Regis Darkbane cried out. "Indeed, it is as you say. We have long discovered that the enchantment is weakening. Blytoros had instructed all of the Kingdoms under him to send our smartest minds to investigate the phenomena and find a way to lift the enchantment! As a matter of fact, I have at least a thousand of my own Realm Specialists in the realm doing their own experiments and studies."
"What?!" Caerose thundered out.
"I suggest you pull them back immediately." Aleyria said mildly. "I am planning to do a purge soon. And please don't inform the others. I will be angry if I find that less and less of your 'smartest minds' are entering our realm.
"I ah…" Regis Darkbane hesitated for a moment.
"Of course I will make it worth your while. You will be our primary partner in the upcoming invasion. All of our spoils are yours." Alexander quickly dangled a carrot in front of Regis. A LOT of carrots.
"OF COURSE I WILL NOT INFORM THE OTHERS OF THE UPCOMING PURGE!" Regis Darkbane immediately declared. "Any notion that I would do otherwise is completely preposterous! I live to serve Princess Aleyria! In fact, to prove my usefulness, I will instigate ALL of the other kingdoms into sending more of their brightest minds! I will scheme! I will plot! And your realm will be alight with minds so bright that you will wonder if you have suddenly gained thousands of new stars!"
Flamewing couldn't help but giggle lightly at his utter shamelessness.
"Alright. I think we can adjourn this meeting. Pay attention now. These are my instructions." Alexander stood up and immediately, a deep aura of majesty swept the entire tent.
Dubaza, I need you to put together to create an army that would be able to put Anastasia on the throne. Take all three Starships as the backbone of our new army. I believe they would have the capabilities to produce anything you need. Armor, weapons, anything at all. I know it is a tall order mastering all the new technology and finding ways to integrate their strengths into ours. But just do your best.
I suggest you start with The Tiger Lord. Prince Jolto and his team will aid you in mastering their tactics and strategies.
Caerose, the Symphonians we captured are in your hands. Coerce, persuade, torture them, do anything you want to combine their factions and throw their combined weight behind Princess Anastasia. After that, work with Dubaza to build up our strength. I need a force that would be able to sweep away Prince Marius's forces and gain the throne without having to fight with the fifty Starships that the old Emperor commands. I will need those fifty Starships intact to launch my own invasion against the other Universe Empires.
Blackfire, please take the three girls and lead a regiment of Wyvern Riders to unify our little continent. Train them as much as you can, and do not intervene unless absolutely necessary.
Delegate the reconstruction of the City as well as the reformation of the country to the Minister of Internal Affairs.
And finally, Aleyria. You need to condense your Godhood immediately. Please go to Fluff-fluff and begin the process as fast as you can."
"Yes, Your Majesty." Dubaza's and Blackfire's voice immediately responded.
A gentler "Alright." also rang out from Aleyria.
Caerose, however, remained silent with a slight frown on her face.
"I have a question. Why bother with all that? With Aleyria's power, all of the forces in the Realm are hers to take."
"And miss a chance to train up powerful generals which I will desperately need in the war against the other realms?" Alexander said with a laugh. "I am not waging war against anybody in this realm. It is not a war when victory is all but assured. I am merely training up all the generals that I trust so that they can command my armies well. Those empires are the perfect training material. Don't worry. You'll do well."
"I will do well?"
"Oh didn't I tell you? I am planning to make you one of those generals I mentioned." Alexander said innocently.
"You…"
"After you take down the old Emperor from the throne, of course."
"Right." Caerose's mood brightened considerably after hearing that.
"And for that, I will be your general, your bait, your punching back, anything you wish me to be." She said grimly.
"We will lead you to exact revenge, Caerose." Aleyria said gently. "But after that, I expect you to rejoin the family."
Caerose stared at Aleyria for a few moments before nodding stiffly, her emotions aswirl.
"What will you be doing, if I may ask, Your Majesty?" Blackfire asked politely.
"I will be doing my own recon with Flamewing." Alexander replied.
"With me?" Flamewing asked, pleasantly surprised.
"Yes, with you. I think it would be for the best if we accelerate our fusion." Alexander smiled.
"Ah, okay!" Flamewing replied, barely hiding her pleasure and happiness.
"Recon?" Aleyria frowned lightly. "To Symphonia?"
Alexander shook his head and pointed to Regis Darkbane.
"I will be going to the Realm of Darkness with him."
"WHAT?!" Caerose shouted.
"Excellent idea!" Regis shouted.
"Absolutely not." Aleyria shouted.
"Not a good idea, Your Majesty!" Blackfire said loudly.
"Worst idea I've ever heard." Dubaza chipped in.
After a short moment of silence, everyone turned to Flamewing, the only one who had not said anything.
"Huh? Why are you all staring at me like that? What's going on?" Flamewing asked as she hastily snapped out of her daydream of having the adventure of a lifetime with Alexander.
