Chapter 125: Dragon Scale
Master Godric brought them all to an inn that was not far from the building where the guild masters were having their meeting. Once they arrived at the inn, Master Godric asked Damien to come and see him.
Though Damien thought it was important to treat Wistoria, he knew that Master Godric would not call him for no reason. So he asked Xavier to keep an eye on Wistoria lest she leave her room.
And he went to look for Master Godric.
When he arrived in the room where Master Godric was resting, he heard the man say, "You are late, boy. But by all means, come on in."
Once Damien sat down, Master Godric fetched a rhombus-shaped golden object from the drawer of the table where he was sitting and placed it on the table.
"Do you know what this is?" he asked.
"I don't," Damien replied, as he had never seen such a thing before.
"Take it," Master Godric said to him without explaining what it was, and Damien did as he told him.
He picked up the golden crystal that Master Godric had set on the table and almost immediately felt an affinity with it; as soon as he touched it, he felt a power surge inside of his body.
"Can you feel something?" Master Godric asked, and this time Damien nodded.
"I feel a weird sensation, but in a good way."
"I expected as much," the elderly man said. When Damien looked at him with confusion written on his face, Master Godric smiled at him and explained, "This is a dragon scale, and no, it's not your usual scale that was shed by a dragon when moving. No, it's much more dangerous than that; sometimes transcendental beastmen get these bursts of energy, which sometimes makes them unstable and crazy."
"They become bloodthirsty and murderous; sometimes they would kill their own family when they lost control of their power. To resolve this issue, the first Emperor Ruben created a magical crystal called Dragon Scale."
"These crystals are infused with the blood and power of the greatest beast man, which is why they can carry a huge amount of mana without breaking."
"Why are you telling me this?" Damien asked as he looked down at the dragon scale.
"Lady Bloom picked it up once the transcendental monster was gone," Master Godric replied with a stern expression. "It seems like that man used the dragon scales to mutate beasts into transcendental beasts."
"And you are giving me this because..."
"Because you are the only one who can absorb this crystal without causing an entire city to explode," Master Godric dropped the shocking information as if he were telling him about the weather. "As you are a dragon beastman, you should have some affinity with this dragon scale."

"Try to process this dragon scale; it might help you in your recovery," Master Godric told him.
Damien nodded. He took the dragon scale and placed it inside his inventory.
He was slowly going to process the dragon scale instead of taking all the mana in one go.
"Is there something else?" Damien asked when he saw that Master Godric had not allowed him to leave.
"There is indeed something else," Master Godric nodded. He picked up a large bag filled with gold coins and a small velvet box that he placed on the surface of the table. "This is something that a few hunters sent here; they said that this was something that belonged to you and asked me to deliver it to you."
Damien pulled the bag towards him and looked at the shiny gold coins.
'Ah, those hunters turned out to be quite honest,' Damien thought. He was worried that they would not send the money to him as he left them in a hurry.
It was a good thing that they were honest, though; in case they tried to fool him, he would have buried them the next time he saw them.
He then picked up the velvet box and then saw a purple orb lying in the centre of the cushion.
[Rare item obtained.]
"Rare item?"
"Mutated beasts usually go through many changes," Master Godric explained to him. "Because of this, they sometimes develop their own mana cores. This is a mana orb. It's one of the most basic resources that you can find in mutated beasts. Though it is called rare because not many mutated beasts can be hunted."
"What can this do?" Damien asked if the AI system alerted him, and he was sure that this was not a normal mana orb.
"It can induce mutations, and it can also strengthen your body. Each mana orb, however, has a different effect on the body of a beastman," he explained. "Without proper processing, it could be fatal to a beastman; you have to be very careful while purifying this thing. Usually, only the high-ranking healers can purify it, which is why most of the time hunters sell these orbs."
"But I think you will be able to think of a way to deal with this orb," Master Godric said to Damien, with amusement shining in his eyes.
For a moment he looked several years younger but then he turned solemn before saying to Damien,
"It seems like your beast core has recovered?"
Damien knew that there was no point in hiding the truth, so he nodded and replied, "I did." He then explained the cause and effect of the venom of the Impert Snake Beast to Master Godric.
"Who would have thought that the venom of that beast can be used like this?" Master Godric remarked but then again, only Damien was an anomaly who survived after infusing the venom of that beast within his blood.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Anyway," Master Godric interlocked his fingers and thought. "Emiliano will soon know about this, since that is the case then we have to think of a way to begin a new training regime for you."
"I thought my responsibility was just to heal and treat people," Damien sighed.
How did his position jump so suddenly?
