After Returning, My Abilities are Infinite

Chapter 58: I Am a Legend (3)

I Am a Legend (3)

The axe smashed the Lich’s skull. His body tilted back slightly, and multiple arrows hit his body.

“Gaso!”

The power of the arrows was truly amazing. Rough tools made of stones and twigs were transformed into weapons with destructive power. The skeleton crumbled, and bone fragments shot away.

“Haaahhhhhhhhh!”

A mighty shout, as if from a single throat, erupted behind me. The 200-300 barbarians were truly a sight to behold. They even made the undead flee.

Tuwoong!

I made a huge leap. My body, which was gradually cooling down, flew through the air, and where I landed, I killed dozens of skeletons with a single blow from my fist.

“Hah, hah!”

The Lich pulled the axe from his skull, and carelessly threw it on the floor. I ran towards it with a speed that surprised even me. In the blink of an eye, I had grabbed the axe, and was already swinging it at my enemy. The undead’s body collapsed with a single swing.

“The chieftain has done it again!”

“With his axe, we are invincible!”

They rushed towards me on their horses. With a bloody smile, I picked Han Yeon-soo up from the floor.

“Huh?”

She blushed slightly at my touch. Han Yeon-soo was light as a feather.

“How did you suddenly get so strong…?”

‘Now for the undead.’

With wide sweeps of my axe, I started clearing the battlefield of any leftover undead. Killing them was no problem at all.

“Keep shooting, fall back slightly.”

The barbarian warriors who followed my every command were very reassuring. They followed my complicated commands perfectly.

“Mister, I’m here. Sorry, I am a little…What is this?”

With Zhang Wei and Sung Hyun-woo here, the tides of battle had truly turned in our favor.

“What a strange sight! You’ll have to explain this to me later!”

Zhang Wei, with a surprised expression on his face, reached his hands out towards the sky. The red was pushed back by a clear blue sky. Finally, we didn’t have to fight in the darkness anymore.

The Messiah had arrived.

The third wave was very powerful, no question about it.

But now we had a chance.

* * *

Finally, the Association and other hunters had arrived. The battle had already been swung in our favor, but it was still a tough fight. With the help of Zhang Wei, no one died in the battle against the Lich, with his powerful black magic, and his armies.

To everyone’s surprise, the fiercest warrior was Jeong Si-woo, the hunter cadet.

“That’s quite a surprise…”

The man muttered as he looked up at the black sky. He had accidentally stumbled on the Livestream of the battle while browsing on a news site.

“It’s a real mess here. I don’t know if I can continue broadcasting…But I’m a pro, I’ll keep my head down. Wow, how many viewers…?”

“Holy shit, look at the chat. You barely have time to read anything.”

“Those hunters aren’t what they used to be.”

“Nooo, I missed an awesome fight scene because of you.”

“Shut up and keep watching.”

BJ Hunter was mostly famous for broadcasting hunts and posting highlights on YouTube. He was quite famous.

“Ugh. All they’ve taken all the 3rd-class hunters, but I’m not allowed to fight at the front lines. Doesn’t make any sense.”

In the distance, Fire, Ice, and Lightning sprung up in random spots. The more experienced hunters show off the powers.

Not him.

Chat was still squabbling like little children.

What did they want from him? This was more exciting to watch than any movie.

Suddenly the sky turned black. People fell in the streets.

The news had said that the Great Rift caused that. Millions of people were watching the live broadcasts.

BJ Hunter turned his gaze to the side.

“What is that?”

There were hundreds of barbarians firing arrows, with an axe-wielding man at their front. He seemed very young, but his muscles, and the ease with which he felled dozens of skeletons with his axe, made him look like a hero straight out of a fantasy book.

“Warriors, rush them!”

“Cya!”

That one man attracted the most attention. He rode on an elegant black horse, swinging his axe left and right, killing his enemies. It was quite a sight.

“What’s his name?” the man asked his chat.

‘Light-Siwoo.’

‘God-Siwoo.’

‘King-Siwoo.’

‘Jeong Si-woo,’ his name would be remembered after this battle.

* * *

“This is the first time I’ve ever seen a Great Rift like this!”

I heard another hunter say. I agreed. Where was that crazy monster that had the Rift’s core in its chest? It moved around so fast.

“An undead appeared in Seoul! They think he’s behind the attack.”

“In Busan as well…!”

As long as the Lich was alive, monsters would keep appearing all over Korea. There was only one way to stop this. It was defeating him as soon as possible.

“Kreah hahaha.”

It was looking down at us, laughing.

Although the axe had done serious damage to him, it didn’t kill him. Now he was aware of it; he kept his distance. He was no longer using the dark magic he had hurt Han Yeon-soo with but was sending endless waves of monsters instead.

We had to do something.

“Hyun-woo, let’s go.”

“Huh?”

I grabbed Sung Hyun-woo’s hand.

“I caught a cub.”

Sung Hyun-woo tilted his head. He didn’t understand what I was talking about. As soon as he had read my mind, his expression changed, however.

“Wow…Are you sure about that?”

“Do you think it will work?”

“It should.”

Sung Hyun-woo nodded and teleported us. Suddenly we floated high in the air.

“If I make a mistake, we will both die, right?”

“Uh-huh.”

However, we both were unnaturally calm.

I had full confidence in our combined strength.

There was no reason to doubt ourselves.

Whoo woo-!

We started falling. We fell faster and faster. I pulled all the power I could out of the Link, and raised the massive ax high above my head.

From up here, the giggling Lich looked like a small toy.

“How high up did you teleport us?”

“As far as I could!”

We were so high up; I almost thought we were falling from the moon towards the earth. I could feel the barbarian’s special skill awaken.

“The axe the chief wielded was like a beam of lightning.”

The Lich’s head was getting bigger and bigger.

‘Shouldn’t we announce our arrival to him?’

“Haaaaaaah!”

The Lich looked up at the sound.

[Thunderbolt (SS) activating.]

Kwakwakwang-!

The impact sent a shockwave in all directions. Without any resistance, the blade glided through him, splitting his body clean in half.

We kept falling.

“Hahahaha!”

I let out a bellowing laugh at the sight of the Lich’s remains flying in all directions. These were the last monsters we would have to fight. With his death, no other monsters could spawn.

The ground was drawing close. The hunters below were staring at us with their mouths open.

“Hyun-woo!”

Sung Hyun-woo pointed his hand at the ground directly below us. With an ear-splitting sound, a huge crater started to form below us. As we fell into it, our speed started to decrease.

“Do you think we’re going to get to the core?”

“I have no idea!”

Fortunately, we didn’t quite reach the core, as the air started to become unbearably hot, we finally came to a stop.

“You okay?” asked a booming voice from above.

Completely exhausted, we didn’t respond but laid down on the ground for a moment to catch our breaths.

* * *

The fight against <the Third Wave> raged on for another two weeks. Even though we had destroyed the core, so many monsters had spawned from the Lich’s remains that it took us a long time to round them all up.

Quite a few casualties… Had this been the first time that a Great Rift affected other areas?

This was the first time. A rumor started to spread that the Rifts were evolving…

Many people had an opinion on that; the public was suddenly very interested. The Prophet officially announced the five plagues to the world.

Unintentionally, I had become the most searched celebrity within days. I didn’t mind, however. It had been a bit weird to deal with all those disasters without anyone ever noticing.

Most of all, however, I was proud of the role I had played in preventing the end of the world.

While the Great Rift had been open, Kim Min-jae was nowhere to be found.

Only

‘Without Han Yeon-soo, we could never have defeated the Third Wave.’

She had never disappointed me, but if it hadn’t been for her, I would have never found the strength to defeat the monsters. By myself, I was weak. Only with my friends’ help could I be strong enough to be the hero the world needed.

I closed my book and glanced at the calendar.

<Hwayeon Choin Academy Graduation Ceremony>

It was finally time to leave the Academy, and for the real adventure to begin.
