Chapter 42 - Acting is Like Life
Chapter 42: Acting is Like Life
The dressing room fell into a moment of silence. Du Jiuyuan did not say anything, while the man no longer addressed Luoluo as ‘Baby’.
“Is there a problem?” Luoluo looked at the two of them innocently. Her innocent act caused Du Jiuyuan to be stunned.
Du Jiuyuan suddenly understood why Luoluo was so popular in the entertainment industry. This little girl was young, but she has several different personalities. This wasn’t a derogatory term, but for her, acting was like life. Every personality of Luoluo was honing her acting skills.
“Of course there is no problem.” Du Jiuyuan completely agreed. This was a fair competition, and it was reasonable.
Seeing that Du Jiuyuan readily agreed, Loki didn’t say anything else. Besides, with his current reputation and status in the entertainment industry, would he be afraid of a little girl?
“Miss Du, if you need anything, you can contact my agent.” Luoluo had a good impression of Du Jiuyuan, and her tone was different from how she spoke to Loki.
“Thank you, Luoluo. You can call me Jiuyuan. I want to measure your body size now.” Du Jiuyuan pursed her lips, and her tone softened.
Luoluo was a little surprised. “You’re going to make my clothes personally, right?”
Du Jiuyuan said, “That’s a must. Since I’ve chosen this profession, I’ll do my best to give you as many high-quality experiences as possible.”
Luoluo stood up and generously let Du Jiuyuan measure her body size. There was a measuring ruler in the dressing room, and Du Jiuyuan was using her phone to record the measurements. Loki was a little embarrassed. He found that he had been completely ignored. At this moment, if eyes could kill, Du Jiuyuan would have died thousands of times.
Seeing that Loki wasn’t paying attention, Luoluo whispered to Du Jiuyuan in a voice that only the two of them could hear, “I’m looking forward to your style. You don’t know that Loki is a stubborn maniac. I’m tired of him.”
Du Jiuyuan looked up at Luoluo but didn’t answer. She kept measuring and left after she was done. There was still a week before the banquet. She had to make every second count in order to create a perfect look for Luoluo. Ling Jin was right. This opportunity was not easy to come by and she had to seize it firmly.
Du Jiuyuan first went to the supermarket to buy some cooking ingredients. Then, she went back to her residence to make a few types of Chinese pastries. After packing them in a food box, she drove her eye-catching limited-edition Maybach to Qingyan Street.
Qingyan Street was one of the intangible cultural heritage sites of Hong Kong. There were green bricks and red tiles here. Every scene and object was mixed with a nostalgic atmosphere. Even the air felt exceptionally sweet.
Du Jiuyuan parked the car at the corner of the street. She carried the food box with one hand and walked deeper into the alley. When she reached a house that looked very imposing, she stopped and stretched out her hand to knock on the door a few times.
Not long after, a woman’s voice came from inside the house. “Who is it?”
The woman’s footsteps gradually approached. Not long after, she opened the door. The moment she saw Du Jiuyuan, the woman frowned slightly and said, “You actually have the time to come here?”
“How have you been, Master?” Du Jiuyuan shook the food box in her hand and asked slowly.
“Who is your Master? Your Master has been angered to death by you for a long time!” The woman looked to be over 50 years old. When she spoke, her voice was full of energy. She rolled her eyes at Du Jiuyuan and was about to slam the door.
“I made some Chinese pastries myself. You haven’t eaten them for a long time, have you?” Du Jiuyuan unleashed her ultimate move.
The woman paused and snorted. “Then come in! Don’t forget to close the door.”
“Yes, will do.” Du Jiuyuan said.
Her master’s foul mouth hadn’t changed at all. Her favorite food was all kinds of Chinese pastries. She rarely liked the pastries made from outside. Only Du Jiuyuan’s homemade pastries won her favor.
Du Jiuyuan followed her master into the house. Then, she took out some tea leaves from the cabinet with ease and found a teapot. She made a pot of tea for her master and then poured a cup.
“Please have some tea, Master!” Du Jiuyuan knew that her master still held a grudge against her, so she simply followed her master’s wishes. Her master would be soft-hearted when it came to food and drinks.
“Humph!” The woman didn’t take the cup of tea but kept her eyes on the food box that Du Jiuyuan had brought.
Du Jiuyuan immediately understood. She went to the small cabinet in the kitchen and took out a few plates that were especially used for snacks. She arranged the Chinese pastries in the food box and picked up the tea that she had just poured. She then said respectfully, “Master, please have some tea.”
The woman picked up a piece of pastry and looked up at Du Jiuyuan. She took the teacup and said calmly, “What are you doing here?”
Du Jiuyuan knew that her master was still angry, so she didn’t sit down. Instead, she remained standing and answered, “Master, I miss you.”
“If you won’t tell me the truth, get out of here!” The woman slapped the table and yelled.
“I would like to ask for your help in making a dress.” Du Jiuyuan initially wanted to say a few words to appease her master before revealing her true intentions.
“The famous Mrs. Ji of the Ji Corporation, what kind of dress do you need from an old lady like me, whose body is halfway inside the grave?” The woman named Yin Hua put down the teacup and asked sarcastically.
