A Wanderer's Lies

Chapter 34: Scenario [1]

Chapter 34: Scenario [1]

"B-21"

Isaac stood before a sliding door in a long hallway. Wearing a neat navy uniform, he read the sign on the door.

It had been two days since he entered Spawn, and it was today where he would attend his first class.

In that time, Isaac had figured out a few things.

Firstly, his Nen.

Unless he tampered with the excess Nen flowing into his body from the atmosphere, he could freely use the original source of Nen in his body.

Although, his hunger would increase if that happened, but it was worth it.

Despite not being able to use the trump card of the Zobae Disease, and having to guide 100% of the additional Nen to the Thing in his abdomen, he was determined to find a way to deal with the sanity problem.

Additionally…

'Hand to Hand fighter, huh? The Zoldyck Genes sure are great.'

In a matter of two hours of constant striking on a boxing bag, Isaac constantly saw himself adapting and improving the imperfections he noticed.

His imbalanced stance was changed to be more efficient and sturdy without him having to take a break, the power in his strikes saw a significant boost as he learned how to time his breathing with his blow and he learnt the importance of elbows, knees and kicks, adding them to his arsenal as he went.

Realising only two hours had passed and seeing the improvement he made, Isaac felt a wave of euphoria.

Despite wanting to spend more time finding ways to better hide his rewards, or discovering his limits and developing his Avatar, which he still hadn't had time to start on, Isaac was forced to put a halt to it.

Standing before his class, he slid the door open, walking in.

He knew the things he'd learn were extremely important, not only for his future Scenarios but to better understand Inheritors.

Being an outsider of spawn, he had to put in twice the effort to catch up.

As Isaac stepped into the class, the first thing he noticed was the chatting students as some laughed, some read and most huddled amongst six individuals in fairly close seats in the class.

It didn't take long to figure out who these six were.

'What are the chances? I'm in the same class as the Golden Six. I guess this is a good thing. This means there will be less attention on me.'

Stepping onto the stairs, as each row of tables moved vertically, Isaac made his way to the last desk on the right side of the class, the opposite side of the six.

Taking a seat, Isaac turned to the only person sitting on the row.

"I guess you're still obligated to go to classes despite not being an Inheritor yet." Isaac started, looking to Oliver, who had just noticed his presence.

"Oh, I didn't realise we'd be in the same class. And yes, classes are compulsory." Oliver chuckled.

"Excuse me, everyone."

A chipper and pleasant voice came from the other side of the class, as everyone immediately halted their conversations, all looking toward where the voice came from.

As Isaac did the same, his eyes fell upon a petite female, wearing the same uniform as everyone, only with a short skirt.

Her white hair and short hair didn't pass her jaw, and her large, pleasant eyes paired well with her bright smile.

However, some of the boys in the class made it more than noticeable they were staring at her slender and…large pectoral muscles.

"Seeing as this is our first class, I think it'll be a good idea for everyone to introduce themselves and share their rank." The female clapped her hands together as she spoke.

A pause erupted in the class as everyone looked at each other.

"That's a great idea." A dark and long-haired female that seemed to be close to her broke the silence.

"Yeah, I wouldn't mind."

"That seems to be a good way to get to know each other."

"Great idea."

It wasn't long until the majority of the class came to a unanimous agreement, all nodding their heads.

"Great, I'll start! My name is Ava Longfield, and I'm an E+ rank. It's a pleasure to meet you all, and I hope we can become great friends." Ava started, giggling, most of the class showing the same enthusiasm.

"She's one of the Golden Six. It's why everyone actually listens to her. Well, that and her father is the number one doctor in Spawn." Oliver whispered.

'Yeah right. I can name two pretty large reasons why everyone seems so interested in her.'

"Her rank seems a little low for the golden six. Is that normal?" Isaac was new to the concept of ranks, but for the crap he got for being an F rank, he couldn't imagine an E+ rank being much better.

"No. In truth, she isn't very strong. She's only a member of the Golden Six because of her healing capabilities. She's a prodigy, said to overtake her father in the future." Isaac nodded in understanding.

"Me next! I'm Heather Oita, and I too am an E+ rank." The longhaired friend spoke.

As everyone took turns introducing themselves, Oliver gave a small description as they did.

Isaac took note of the ginger wearing a bandana, who also seemed to be staring at him intently, and the blond haired female fashioning a ponytail.

The boy was named Alfie August, the smoke powered individual Isaac had punched in the free for all.

And the female was named Amy Law, the female giant. Isaac was deeply interested in both their abilities.

Soon, it was time for the people everyone was waiting for.

"Hello, my name is Cain Saffron, and my rank is a C-. I'm what you would call an Outsider, and this is my first week in Spawn, so I still have a lot to learn about it." Cain gave a nervous chuckle as he finished.

'So amongst the First Years, C- is the highest.'

"I can show you around."

"Have you been to the city yet? It's gorgeous."

A few students huddled around him bombarded him with questions and requests as he rubbed the back of his head.

It was clear to Isaac that he didn't handle attention very well.

"For those who don't know, and I'm sure you do, my name is Daniel Euro, a D+ rank." A student sitting behind Cain spoke with his feet on the table, surrounded by a few nasty looking students.

'That's…ugh'

Isaac's face physically cringed as he witnessed this. He couldn't believe this could be someone's real personality.

'Talk about eighth grade syndrome.'

"He's a member of the Golden Six, too. There's only one person in between him and Cain, and his mother is a board member of S.A."

The S.A., or the Spawn Association. A sort of government that overlooked Spawn and Aurelius was funded by them, giving them a small amount of power over the Academy.

Isaac knew this much from the helmet.

The introduction continued as a female Isaac recognised spoke next.

"Amara Khan, D+ rank."

"The Khan's, or The Alchemists, as they're better well known as. They own the leading pharmaceutical business in Spawn. Potions, medicine, senzu beans. They sell it all."

"They work closely with the Longfields, so Amara and Ava have known each other since they were children."

'How much does he know?' Isaac thought, as Oliver never failed to give a short description of everyone.

Although, he had to admit, it was useful.

As everyone stared at the next person, the classroom came to a halt as no words were spoken.

"Lucy, do you want to introduce yourself?" Ava asked, to which she was ignored.

Lucy Vanheart, the sword wielder Isaac remembered from the free for all.

She was currently reading a book, ignoring everything around her.

With a disappointed look, that looked more like a child pouting, Ava continued without pushing further.

"Lucy Vanheart. She's a Sub-Rank below Cain. Some say she's only below him because of the rank, and in a fight, she'd beat Cain. But who knows, she barely speaks." Oliver continued.

"OK, I guess it's your turn…" Before she could finish, someone cut her off.

"Don't worry, Ava. No need to waste your valuable breath. My name is Colt Hale, D+ rank, and my dream is to constantly bring a smile to your delicate face, Ava."

Colt kneeled as he held Ava's hand.

His short black hair and blue eyes, paired with the bandages wrapped around his hands, were visually appealing to Isaac.

However, upon hearing the boy speak…

'No, it's him. He's the worst one of them all.'

The life on Isaac's face faded as his insides felt like they were turning upon the sight he was witnessing.

"That's Colt Hale." Oliver chuckled.

"His status isn't quite as extravagant as the other's, but his grandfather owns the most prestigious martial arts dojo in Spawn."

Isaac's ears perked upon hearing this.

After gaining the Zoldyck Genes and seeing what it was capable of, he couldn't help but want to explore further. Therefore, the prospect of the best martial dojo intrigued him.

'I might have to check in on it soon.'

Meanwhile, Ava awkwardly chuckled as Heather pushed Colt away, protecting her friend.

"OK, who's left?" Ava asked, her eyes falling upon two individuals sitting at the back of the class.

Isaac and Oliver stared at each other, none moving.

"You go first." Oliver whispered. It was clear he was shy.

Seeing this, a mischievous grin emerged on Isaac's face.

Taking his hand and squeezing Oliver's hip, the short boy jumped off his seat, yelping loudly.

Before he could retort, he noticed all eyes were on him.

"Umm…My name is Oliver…Clover."

"What?!"

"What did he just say?!"

"Clover? It can't be?"

"He doesn't mean THAT Clover, right?"

Isaac raised an eyebrow as Oliver sat back down, staring at his fingers as he fiddled with them, a poorly forced smile plastered on his face.

They seemed so distracted by his name, that they didn't even notice him forget to share his Rank. Not that he had one.

After the class settled down, their eyes moved to the last person left.

Isaac, standing, looked around with a straight face.

"My name is Isaac, F rank."

A silence enveloped the class as everybody stared.

"How rude. He can't even be bothered to share his full name."

"F rank. Seems fitting."

"After Ava was so polite."

"Nice to meet you Isaac." Ava smiled, turning away.

Meanwhile, Oliver's eyes shot wide open as an unnaturally devious grin appeared on his face.

Slamming his palm into the table, Oliver straightened his back, pointing toward Isaac as he yelled.

"He's a Wanderer!"

"..."

"..."

As if time itself had been stopped, no one dared move a muscle, or even breathe.

"Serves you right, Traitor" Oliver giggled.
