Chapter 120: Take Conrol, Thing

-SHING

The forest was dark and cold as silence prevailed.

But for some reason, at this moment, it seemed colder. It seemed quieter than usual.

The battles ensuing all over the forest had all come to a halt. The usual BANGS and BOOMS couldn't be heard as a chill breeze travelled through the copious plant life.

In a far clearing in the forest, a figure with an eerie mask could be seen holding a sword.

"Well done, Isaac. You caught it." 

Aizen clapped, staring at Isaac holding his sword, travelling at great speeds and grabbing it midair.

"But you still lose." 

Isaac dropped the sword as his mask faded from his mask, The Freak deactivating as Isaac's expression could be revealed, frozen in a state of shock as if he were petrified.

He mumbled, staring at Zach before him, the Ghoul's eyes wide open and staring back at Isaac, impaled through the heart by Eli's hand, crackling with yellow lightning.

Eli stared, his expressions stern. However, upon blinking once and then again, his look quickly changed from one of accomplishment to complete horror.

"What…have I done?" 

Eli pulled out his forearm, causing Logan to drop to the ground with a THUD.

This seemed to cause Isaac to snap out of his trance as he stepped forward, soon dashing as he dropped to his knees beside Logan.

Eli stood over them, the events running through his mind as he tried to figure out what went wrong.

"That was supposed…to be him. I saw him…standing there."

Eli mumbled, darting his eyes between Aizen and Logan.

"Zach!" 

Logan's eyes were barely open, the colour in them fading as Isaac could see him barely conscious.

This fact was further proven as Logan slightly turned his head, looking at Isaac.

"W-Well…I guess I kinda…deserve this, huh?" 

Logan muttered, his lips curling upwards as he joked.

Isaac's lips pursed as he glanced at the hole in Logan's chest.

"Stop talking, you idiot. Why isn't he healing?!" 

Isaac yelled desperately, turning his head to Eli, making the boy flinch as he did.

"I used H-Hamon…it's made to vanquish Vampires…the Undead," Eli answered, his voice shaking.

Isaac bit his lip, sweat dripping down the side of his face as he furrowed his eyebrows.

A hum could be heard as red Vitaflow pills were summoned into Isaac's hands. The same Vitaflow pills he'd snatched from Silver long ago.

'Come on, come on, come on!'

Taking them all, he placed them in Logan's mouth, forcing close his mouth as he pulled his head back, causing Logan to gulp loudly.

Despite this, after a few seconds, nothing changed as Logan remained as he was.

If raw RC Cells weren't enough, his flesh wouldn't have a better effect.

Isaac saw this as his breathing quickened, almost hyperventilating as he darted his eyes around, searching for a solution.

With a hum once again, he summoned anything that could heal from his Dimensional Space.

Potion, Senzu Beans, he summoned them all.

Without thinking, he brought them closer to Logan's lips.

-GRAB

"Stop, he's a Ghoul, that'll only hurt him!" Eli grabbed Isaac's arm before it was too late.

This seemed to bring Isaac back to his senses as he dropped the potions, soon tightening his fist as he struck the ground.

"Damnit!" 

Failure after failure. 

First Oliver, then Merlin and now…

'No matter what I do…no matter how strong I become…why do I keep losing so much?'

Isaac scrunched his eyes closed as he lowered his head.

"It's f-funny…death makes your mind so clear."

Logan caught Isaac's attention as the boy looked up, and coughed blood as he spoke as Isaac scurried to him, holding up his head so he didn't choke.

"Save it, man," Isaac spoke with a pained expression on his face, knowing what was coming.

"I-I had a simple mission. Stick to Oliver. I c-couldn't even do that without growing so attached." 

The more Logan spoke, the more his voice weakened and his face grew increasingly pale.

"And you…the first day I met you…in that arena…I was going to recommend you to Xavier as a student to recruit into Onyx."

Isaac's eyes focused as Logan continued 

"I n-never knew why I didn't. I wanted to, but when I stood before him, the words wouldn't come out." 

Isaac's eyes became watery as Logan continued to cough blood. He didn't have long left. They both knew this.

"I'm sorry." 

A simultaneous tear ran down both of their cheeks as Logan's eyes finally closed.

However, Isaac suddenly snapped his eyes wide as if he'd just realised something.

In the next second, all three of Isaac's tails moved, quickly wrapping around Logan and raising him slightly off the ground.

'Please…do whatever you have to do…' 

Isaac could feel something dormant inside him, something carrying hunger so great that it would make a regular human die, rise from his abdomen, seeping into his tails.

'I've never asked for anything…just this once…' 

Soon, Isaac lost all control over his tails as they wrapped around every inch of Logan. 

Simultaneously, Isaac's eyes reddened as he rose to his feet with Logan.

"I-I give you full control…take it all away from him…all his power…drain him of everything…DO IT!" 

-VUAM

Isaac flinched as the Thing ravaged the food on its plate. With Isaac shutting out all Nen being directed to it, it relentlessly swallowed whatever it could to satiate itself, this also being the reason he still barely had his sanity.

However…

[Status: Starving]

"GRRKH!"

Isaac groaned, his skin turning dark as his pupils dilated, his knees feeling weak as he struggled to stand.

'Stay up, goddammit! Stay the fuck up!' 

'What the hell is happening to him?' 

Eli stared with an expression of apprehension as he darted his eyes between Isaac, whose skin was turning darker by the second, and Logan who could no longer be seen anymore due to the tails.

"Despite everything that has happened today, Isaac, today was a productive day." 

Isaac was barely able to turn his head like a rusty robot as he witnessed Aizen standing before a Senkaimon, his sword in his hand as he grinned.

"We shall meet in the future, Isaac. It's inevitable. When we do, I expect you to be at your best." Aizen turned his head.

"You'll need to be." Aizen took a step forward.

"I won't kill you!" 

Aizen turned back his head, his grin remaining as Isaac yelled.

The pain and toll this was taking on Isaac was so great that he couldn't help but scream his words.

"I'll keep you alive! When I do, I'll find a way to bring back Oliver! I promise you that, Aizen! Remember this moment! This is my Oath to you! I WILL BRING HIM BACK!" 

Aizen paused for a moment, soon turning his head once again and he stepped into the light.

"I look forward to it." 

With this, the Senkaimon closed.

As soon as it did, Isaac took a quick glance at his compass.

'You may be a Possession, but as long as you're in that body, I will always find you.'

"KHR!" 

-SHATTER

But Isaac was distracted as he grit his teeth so hard that they had shattered, veins bulging around his face.

"A little more!" 

The pain was so great that Isaac started to yell his inner thoughts.

Eli didn't know what was happening, but seeing Isaac's struggle for whatever he was doing, he found his heart beating in anticipation, wanting Isaac to succeed in whatever he was doing.

"Come on, you hungry Bastard! Indulge all you want!" 

His skin completely darkened, and his pupils dangerously dilated; Isaac painfully groaned.

His sanity and consciousness were clouded, hanging onto its last string as Isaac's Nen started to change from its usual white to complete darkness.

"W-When I tell you to, dump all those crap down his throat, got it?!" 

Isaac yelled, stuffing his mouth with dozens of Vitaflow pills but not swallowing, his eyes directed toward Eli as the boy froze for a second, soon giving a stern nod as he tried to compose himself.

'Get a hang of yourself. Fix your mistake.' 

He knew Isaac was aware of Logan not being able to ingest potions, after all, he'd just told him.

But he trusted him enough to think he'd thought past this.

-SNAP

"Now!"

The tails suddenly unravelled like ropes being cut as Isaac dropped face-first to the ground, instantly directing all the Nen he could muster to the glutton in his stomach.

With a gulp, he swallowed the countless Vitaflow in his mouth.

Though he was still Starving, he was himself.

With this, a golden figure appeared behind Eli, the both of them raising their arms by their side as they yelled.

"THE WORLD!"

-TIK TIK TIK

-ZMMMMMM

With space distorting for a second, Eli stood in a world identical to usual, the only difference being everything had lost its colour, completely frozen and unmoving.

Eli first looked go Isaac, seeing him still trying to gain his bearings.

Running over to Logan, who had just hit the ground, Eli couldn't help but pause and stare.

And as he did, he widened his eyes as he forgot to breathe.

'How…he's a human.' 

The black eye and red pupils and Kagune had completely disappeared, leaving only the white hair.

If that wasn't enough, the sudden increase in blood loss suggested Logan had lost his high durability and the small healing kept him alive for so long.

Putting aside all his questions, because if Logan was now a human, he had seconds before dying. 

Therefore, Eli grabbed all the solid medicine and placed it in Logan's mouth.

'The liquid won't move while time is stopped. I need to be quick.' 

With this, the Golden figure behind Eli disappeared, and with it, time resumed.

-GULP

Logan swallowed whatever was in his mouth as Eli instantly poured the liquids into his mouth.

One bottle, two bottles then three. It wasn't long until everything had been emptied.

During all this, Isaac was able to crawl beside Logan as he and Eli watched in anticipation.

"Why…isn't it working?" 

Isaac muttered.

"It is. He was at the brink of death, the medicine might be having some difficulty." 

Difficulty? Even after all this? 

"Come on, Zach…"

'I can't lose everything.' 

Isaac gripped Logan's clothes tightly.

"I can help." 

Isaac and Eli snapped their heads to the side to where the voice came from.

Stepping out of the forest, a female figure the both of them recognised stood in their line of sight.

Eli was the first to speak.

"Vanheart."
