A Story of Evil

Chapter 76: The Void

Chapter 76: The Void

The form which Reckon had, although resembling the Seraphims, wasn't completely so. And if Jubilee was to place a finger on it, the reason would be that, there was nothing divine about it. The aura emanated by Reckon was still human and, his power was still limited to earth. His clothing, which was from the earth domain, also added to the said look.

Unmistakably however, he was powerful. There was no denying it. He was above any of the monarchs who fought him at that point. All of his opponents lay on the battlefield. Damaged by the crystals he unleashed upon their bodies and preventing them from casting any more spells.

They were still conscious. Yet this in itself was useless, considering the fact that their powers have been cut off.

"Man, this spells like trouble." Jubilee looked at the battlefield. Disappointed at the outcome although he already expected it.

He watched as Reckon created crystal lances. One for each monarch, and all having the same property as the shards that spread upon contact. Reckon had every intention of finishing the fight.

"Any last words?" The exiled king taunted. Not paying Jubilee any mind.

"Screw you fucktard!" Nova said in reply. His voice distinguishable to be in pain.

The other monarchs shared his sentiment of course. They didn't want to die but, they also didn't want to give their enemy the pleasure of feasting on faces filled with despair. So they all stared at their executioner. Without a shred of fear.

"As you wish." Reckon said, with the lances spinning like crazy as he pulled them back for more momentum. As soon as he fired, everyone winced and closed their eyeswaiting for the stab that never came.

Nobody understood what was happening at that point. Even reckon himself was stupefied as to what happened. But no answer could be provided by any of them because, the one who held all of this has just surfaced at that moment.

Brushing his hair and winding up his shoulder, Jubilee entered the scene.

"Jubilee. What on earth are you doing?" Aqua asked, worried for the king as she would her own citizens.

"Isn't that obvious? I'm going to save your asses of course." The other monarchs, including the exiled Reckon couldn't believe his words. In fact, Reckon was insulted to the point that, he fired another round of lances all aiming at Jubilee. Thinking that what happened earlier was a fluctuation in power caused by his transformation.

Yet as soon as he released them, the lances all shattered. Vanishing into thin air. There was visible shock on everyone's faces. And although Reckon's was hidden, one can hear it on his voice.

"Youwhat are you?"

"You must've really gone senile old man. I'm the Void King of course."

Reckon still had no idea what was going on. He tried the same attack. Everyone saw it. The visible lances of crystal that continued spinning like crazy. But just as they were going to be fired, they shattered and disappeared into thin air.

Reckon observed it. Doing the same stunt and getting the same result. Clapping and laughing right after as he reached his own conclusion.

"Is that what the Shadoweaver gave you? It looks a bit promising." Jubilee was actually surprised that Reckon knew of Pandora. But, his facial expression didn't let this show.

"Now that's a bit rude. These are my powers of course. I earned them myself." Jubilee played with his words, allowing him to say the truth without hinting his opponent of Pandora's existence.

"Is that so? Why don't we test your so-called powers again then?" Reckon created golems and, just like the lances, these creatures crumbled to dust.

Jubilee turned his attention to his fellow monarchs, all of which were dumbfounded at that moment. All having an expression of wanting to ask what was going on.

"I know you guys have a lot of questions but, let's leave it for the next meeting." Jubilee said as he snapped his fingers.

All of them floated and were carried to safety. All while Jubilee continued disabling Reckon's spells. Without showing any signs of having a hard time.

This was a given. Earlier, Jubilee was already using [Reverse Analysis] on all of Reckon's skills. This being done while he watched from the sidelines. This validated the efforts made by the monarchs earlier. Because, he was only able to get the rune structures through them.

"So you're going to fight me alone?" Reckon asked.

"Looks like it. I doubt the others can help me at this point." Jubilee unsheathed his sword and went into striking stance.

"Aren't you scared?"

"Scared? You should ask yourself that old man. I am a king. Fear has no place on my duties."

The other monarchs were still unable to fully assess what was happening. Reckon not only backstabbed them but also turned into some sort of transcendent creature. He beat all of the rulers by himself. And that very same person was challenged by a monarch whom they believed to be powerless all their lives.

Jubilee stood without a hint of fright. Without any signs of bluffing. He was seriously going to take on that very same Reckon all by himself.

"Well said. I shall grant you an honorable death." The exiled king commented.

"Please. I'm not the one dying here Reckon."

"HAHAHA! Let's see where that bravado takes you Jubilee."

The ground began making tremors once again. Jubilee was just about to stop this when sand came out of the holes. This increased like wildfire and, soon enough, the whole field was covered in an artificial sandstorm. Blocking the king's vision as pillars of rock and crystal shot up from the ground.

"You're doing well when you have your eyes. But what happens when I impair your vision?" Reckon sounded triumphant already. He hasn't won yet but his tone of voice was suggestive of this. As if it was an undeniable fact.

He felt all the vibrations made by the earth. Even without seeing Jubilee, he knew exactly where the man was. Rock pillars rose one after the other; with Jubilee playing within Reckons hands.

The exiled king then softened the ground where his opponent was stepping on. Catching Jubilee in what seemed to be quick sand. This hardened right away. Preventing him from running away.

"Got you." Reckon said, raising crystal pillars around Jubilee and making them all explode at once.

"HAHAHA! I knew that was all you were capable of!" Reckon exclaimed. Already feeling triumphant in the fight. Something he soon learned to regret as a shadow loomed behind him.

"What was I capable of?" Jubilee appeared right at his back. Even before Reckon could turn, Jubilee already hit him with his sword. Sending Reckon smashing to the ground.

The exiled king's barrier was still up at that point. Keeping him safe from any damage. Yet as soon as he stood up, Jubilee appeared again. Kicking him and shattering his barrier entirely. Reckon was sent flying as he continuously collided on pillar after pillar of rock.

He stretched his arms in front of him; casting another spell but it failed once again. Jubilee then appeared right on top of him. Cutting off one of Reckon's arms as the exiled king flew to the sky in hasty retreat.

"What was that you were saying earlier?" The sandstorm diffused, showing Jubilee who was standing on top of a rock pillar.

"Ah yes. Reckon, is that all you're capable of?"

The exiled king screamed, regenerating his arm which surprised Jubilee once again. He then opened his mouth and out of it was a beam that charged within a split-second interval before finally firing. Aiming at the other monarchs in desperation.

Jubilee changed the trajectory of the attack, sending it up to the sky where it exploded in a dark yellow color. Creating a shower of crystal shards that sparkled in the moonlight.

"YOU THINK YOU CAN MAKE A FOOL OUT OF ME?" The sky rumbled at that point. A large rune structure, one too vast for Jubilee to diffuse, was created. The sky lit up and, soon enough, ten meteorites began falling. One on top of the other.

"NOT EVEN YOUR DUST WILL REMAIN WHEN I'M THROUGH WITH YOU!"

"Can you at least reserve all that speech for after you win?" Jubilee said, still attempting to diffuse it with [Reverse Analysis]. However, all his attempts were in vain.

Adding to the fact that there was a crushing weight of gravity that went along with it gave him no time to do so. He also needed to ensure the safety of the other monarchs who thought that they were done for in that moment.

Reckon looked at his opponent. He thought that something might come out of his opponent once again. Yet what he heard was the complete opposite.

"Ahh I give up."

"What?" Reckon couldn't believe what his ears picked up.

"Do you think begging for your life will change anything? You will still die Jubilee! Regret your foolishness."

"Begging for my life? What are you talking about?" Jubilee's brows were furrowed as he stared at Reckon.

"The only thing I'm giving up on, is hiding my abilities." Jubilee said, releasing an immense amount of mana that sent shivers on everyone's spines.

A blast of mana swept all over the area as, Jubilee began preparations for his counter. Just like any other overpowered spell, everyone could vaguely see the runes being used by Jubilee at that moment. The insane amount that was placed together. Synchronized in order to create a single effect.

Reckon tried cancelling this by distracting Jubilee. But all the puny spells he used were cancelled by the king's [Reverse Analysis] and, as soon as he finished his preparations, he snapped his fingers and casted:

"Void Expansion."
