A random pokemon journey

Setting sail again

Setting sail again

I nodded at this as I had expected such an answer to a degree. This project was the sort to take a good deal of time to complete but only a few months at most to get started. When it was done though I doubted anyone would fail to remember Duking even long after he dies. I pitied the mans descendants a little as that would be a hard legacy to live up to. This wasn't a joke either as he was effectively bringing wild pokemon back to Orre for the first time in centuries which might even mean the recovery of the region.-

My role in this was minimal to be honest as while I spoke with Duking about it and provided a large amount of funds he basically did everything else himself. I was honestly impressed at how quickly he worked when properly motivated. The man was like an unstoppable juggernaut when he got some momentum going on a project and bulldozed through any obstacles he found with ease. I had spent most of the last two weeks till now watching in amusement as he expertly jumped through the many hoops that came with such a project like a well trained show pokemon.-

"Perhaps I'll come back in a century or two to see how things went." I said casually as I headed to the kitchen to make lunch. "Whatever you say man." Silva said dismissively since he thought I was exaggerating. I wasn't of course but he certainly didn't need to know that as that. Still that was one of the perks of extreme longevity like mine as I could return many years later to see how a long term project like this turns out.-

I probably wouldn't need to though since the information would be available on the pokenet most likely as it was a very big piece of news that couldn't be hidden once that egghead got here. Clearing my head of those thoughts I set to work sautéing some edible mushrooms I had alongside some carrots and onions. I deglazed the pan with some mild white wine and added the last of my stored up meat since I didn't have a source in the region to get more from. It was freeze dried so once it was rehydrated by the sauce came back to life immediately.-

I boiled some noodles while that was cooking down on low before straining all but a little of the pasta water and mixed it into the sauce as I added the noodles. The final result was a fairly simple pasta dish with a rich but light flavor that Silva was thrilled to devour ravenously. "I think I'm going to miss your cooking more than anything after you leave. I don't know if i can ever go back to normal food after eating so much of your cooking." He said with a sigh. I shrugged "Sucks to be you I suppose." I said with a chuckle.-

The next week passed by in the blink of an eye and the ship heading to Sinnoh arrived which meant it was time for me to go. Unlike when Wes and Rui left my departure was a quiet affair with few people coming to see me off. It was mostly just Silva, Duking, Cail and Makan to be honest but that was fine since unlike in Hoenn I wasn't hailed as a hero here. The ship taking me to Sinnoh was the [S.S. Anne] which gave me more than a little nostalgia from the games but was in fact not the same named pleasure cruise ship.-

Getting a room on the ship wasn't hard at all once I met the Captain who recognized me from the pokenet and was thrilled at the mere idea of me being aboard. As it turned out in the short seven or so months I had spent here in Orre some things had changed in the league due to my past actions. For example crime had sharply dropped as new trainers actively worked to stop criminals though typically less lethally than myself. The second big change was that the healing move was showing up in the gym challenges and making things more interesting for grass type specialists against the other typings.-

The third was that the old bat had been griefed by angry fans of mine in Sinnoh into taking her life which created a VERY awkward situation for the Joy clan to deal with. The matriarch in Hoenn had to step down from that position as she was overcome with grief at the loss of her sister and may have started getting some very not good for the clan ideas about retaliating against the fans.-

Not against me personally as it was beyond questioning that I was not behind that whole situation with my continued presence in Orre being a well documented and proven thing. Not to say I wasn't totally planning to kill the old bat myself mind you just that she clocked out before I could get to Sinnoh so that point was moot. Obviously the moment the Hoenn Matriarch wanted to lash out at the public for turning on the Joy clan like that the rest of the clan in Hoenn stopped her and more or less put her on house arrest/ forced retirement.-

The whole matter pretty much ended there though as with the old bat dead and the Matriarch retired the people that put a bounty on my head quietly withdrew it as there was no one who was distracting the people hunting for the source of the bounty away from them. It probably helped that it was fairly clear that no one was going to be able to kill me at this point so the bounty was just throwing away the lives of the hired killers. Pretty much the people that put up the bounty decided that it would simply be better to remove the thing than continue risking discovery by the league that was hunting them fervently.-

It was a maneuver a bit like a lizard dropping their tail to escape from a predator. The final big change was one that technically had been started back when I was in Hoenn but only really took off after I left, variant training. To be more specific training more than one variant at a time. Somehow or another somebody had figured out how to increase the limit from only one variant on a team to TWO variants on a team.-

Not a huge increase I know but an important one nonetheless. The way the trick worked was that you split your team in half, that was to say into two groups of three each headed by one variant. If done correctly you never had a dominance issue like normal but a competitive rivalry as the two variants try to one up each others part of the team. The "catch" was that only one of the variants could be a species or typing with anger issues so like if you had a variant dragon type you couldn't have another or things would get hostile between them, it was a delicate balancing act.
