Checking in
Checking in
I casually swam over to the door and pull on it and the long since corroded hinges grinded and groaned at the sudden use but obeyed under my strong force. Door now open I swam in and pulled the door shut with a little more ease this time before heading up to the moonpool a bit ahead. It was very dark in the air pocket room but I simply ran my aura over my torso which gave me enough light to go rifling through my bag for a handful of glowsticks. -
I rarely needed them but they were useful once I found myself in a situation like this. Cracking the glowsticks I started tossing them in every direction. The green glow from them illuminated the room and I curiously looked around. The place wasn't very big, maybe just big enough for a single average sized person to walk around. Naturally my tall ass was VERY cramped in here as I was way taller than the average person. I barely fit even while on my knees in fact but that wasn't particularly strange given my size. The room itself wasn't all that furnished either which I assumed was because of the moonpool's water possibly effecting it if it was.-
There was a thick wax candle on a table at the far end though that I made my way over to and converted my aura to fire type and sparked the wick till it lit up. A warm glow fell over the room and I could see much better than just by the glowsticks light. 'A quaint little place that seems to have three rooms in total, this is the entryway and there is a bathroom and bedroom as well. It seems like this person either really like their privacy or may have had the water breathing ability as well.' I thought calmly as I looked over the place.-
There were no artifacts or anything of real worth in this place which made it clear that the previous resident had intentionally moved out at some point. The air was also being filtered by the thin layer of green moss on the walls so I didn't run the risk of suffocating. 'Not the best place to spend the night but I'll live.' I thought as I stretched out across the floor to get some sleep.-
It didn't take me long at all to doze off and end the day there. When I woke up later I checked my pokenav and saw it was about ten in the morning. The candle was still burning surprisingly even so many hours later so I blew it out before sinking into the moonpool to leave. The water was still murky as shit but That had nothing to do with me as I kicked off the bottom of the canal and to the surface. Breaching the surface of the water I slapped a hand to the side of the stone side of the canal and used my aura to pull myself up.-
Clearly no one was expecting me to just casually climb out of the canal as the people nearby just going about their business had looks of shock when I did. "Don't mind me, just passing through." I said with a smile before walking off to try and find the pokecenter. I needed to let the Birch and the league know that I was in the region after all. High level trainers like myself were required to do so when we first got to a new region since each and every one of us could upset the balance of an area easily.-
Foreign trainers also tended to clash with locals since each region had different traditions and cultures that don't always meld well. It wasn't raining today so I got a much better look at the city and I had to admit that my first impression was straight on, this place was bleak. There were few stores and no real definable features with most of the buildings or warehouses looking damn near identical. This only served to make finding the pokecenter, pokemart and Gym easier as they were the only buildings with a different look and as a result stuck out like a sore thumb.-
I drew whispers and looks as I walked to the big red roofed building that all trainers knew. These weren't the sort that I used to get but those of recognition and to some degree, fear. My reputation for brutalizing criminals and taking down big groups was well known all through the league so it wasn't odd that the people in Canalave would be concerned to see me walking their streets. It was quite similar to seeing fully armed soldiers in public, unsettling to say the least.-
I wasn't bothered by these looks and whisperings or even the few people I noticed recording me, no doubt to gossip on the net. The pokecenter was similar to all the others I had seen in design which made it easy for me to walk right in through the automatic doors. "Welcome to....!" the Joy manning the nearby counter started with the usual spiel before freezing mid sentence when they recognized me. "Easy there. I'm just here to report my arrival to the league so just act like you never saw me if it helps." I said calmly.-
The pinkette quickly recovered her decorum and had an embarrassed expression. "The terminals are down the hall and marked clearly, please help yourself Mr. Drake." she said professionally. I nodded and headed that way since she was clearly putting up a brave front. As she had said though the terminals were a bit down the hallway and through a door with a sign that said that it was the terminal room. I found a seat at one of the terminals and hit a few keys to wake up the sleeping computer. Once it was nice and responsive I logged into my league account and started going through the steps to report my arrival while simultaneously sending my research to Birch to be published.-
Academic works like mine needed to be reviewed by a professor before it could be published with the small exception of if you were already a league recognized researcher, I was not. While I was here I also decided to send a message to Mr. Stone, Watson and Birch that was more of a personal affair as I talked about my time in Orre and the events there. I also asked them about how things were going for them since it had been about a month over half a year since I last heard anything from them.
