Chapter 119 - 119 Ch. 119 Lori Is Taken Away
119 Ch. 119 Lori Is Taken Away
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
Richard tried to ignore the beeping sound from Elaine, one of his program assistants. He believed it would be off in a while and focused on his wife.
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
But the nosy beeping voice kept ringing, making Anxia no longer feel in the mood to continue. With great difficulty, Anxia broke away from her husband’s sensual deadly seduction.
“Richie, you better go see it first. What if it’s an emergency?”
“Tsk. Why is there always someone bothering us?”
Anxia chuckled at the sight of her husband sulking like a child. How strange, the cloud in her heart vanished when Richard was with her. He was still as pervert as usual, but his child-like sulking was adorable.
In the end, Richard returned to his room while holding his wife and turned on Elaine’s program so that it could report to him.
“Elaine, this better be an emergency. What is it?”
.....
“Sir, you must leave now.”
“Is it important? Otherwise…”
“I’m sorry, sir, but this is related to the little lady.”
Richard and Anxia looked at each other in confusion at the word ‘little lady.’ They knew that the little lady in question was their daughter, but what could happen to Lori while she was in this palace before realizing they had forgotten one little fact?
Richard immediately walked out of the room and was surprised to see that Calydta, the senior butler, and other maids had gathered in front of his room.
“What is this?” demanded Richard, who was now barely able to feel calm.
“We are careless and deserve to be punished. The little lady is... We... I mean, I can’t prevent Miss Q from taking the lady.” the butler’s guilty look made Anxia stare dagger at her husband.
“Can you explain to me why that bitch took my baby?”
Richard clamped his mouth shut at the demanding tone of his wife’s voice.
“She… seems like she adored Lori. She loves kids.”
“Then, we shouldn’t worry, right?” but the maids and the butler’s reaction said otherwise.
Richard wouldn’t worry Quinn would have the heart to hurt Lori, but it would be a different story if Quinn found out that Lori was Richard’s biological daughter.
“Tell her to return Lori before sunset,” demanded Anxia with an intimidating aura.
Normally, Richard wouldn’t feel intimidated, but this time, he was like a mouse caught by a cat and was ready to be eaten by it. He felt guilty and had to act immediately to pick up Lori. But he didn’t know how to pick up Lori without telling his wife the truth.
“Is there something you’re hiding from me?” guessed Anxia as she raised an eyebrow suspiciously.
“For now, we’d better pick up Lori. Aren’t you already bored on this island? After picking her up, we can take a walk in the country. What do you think?”
‘Why did he shift their topic? Something’s fishy about it.’ thought Anxia.
But she decided not to interrogate her husband further. After all, she also wanted to pick up her daughter soon, so she agreed to her husband’s suggestion.
However...
“What? What do you mean no helicopters can come here?!” Richard hissed at the one responsible for the arrivals and departures of the helicopters on Hallstatt Island.
“I’m sorry, sir, but it seems Lady Q sabotaged all the choppers.”
“What about my mother’s?”
“Currently used by Mr. Calvin to go to Paris to pick up Miss Harmonie.”
What bad timing! Cursed Richard, without knowing Anxia observed his changing expressions. She knew it wasn’t the right time, but seeing his weak side was quite amusing.
‘So he could be frustrated, huh?’ Anxia thought Richard was an invincible man and no one could hit his weak spot. She knew Lori was his weakness, but her husband never showed it.
Richard sensed someone observing him and glanced at his wife, who wore a calm expression as if she wasn’t worried at all.
Well, he was relieved that Anxia was still calm. At least his wife’s sobriety can help him stay strong and have hope that his eccentric cousin doesn’t find out that Lori is his real daughter.
Little did he know, Anxia’s calm demeanor was only from the outside, but inside... it was like a ticking bomb that could explode at any time. Not to mention, she was planning something wicked to give Quinn a lesson if she ever found Lori was hurt even in the slightest.
Even if she could forget the past and forgive the people who had ruined her family, Anxia would never be able to overlook if someone hurt her daughter.
Richard told Rossie to tell everyone to get out of the palace and back in the maid’s square for one hour. Then Richard took Anxia to a small library in the west wing square.
This library room was not the main one because it was much smaller. Anxia wondered why her husband had brought her here instead of thinking of a way to get out of this place. She also felt her husband was foolish. Richard brought her here and gave her no way out, but the man himself was trapped and couldn’t get out of this place.
Isn’t this place the safest in the world? Well, there’s no safest place as long as the enemy was within his own kin.
Richard walked over to a very tall bookshelf and pulled one of the books neatly arranged on the shelf.
Click!
A clicking sounds as if a lock was unlocked came as soon as Richard pulled the book. It didn’t stop there; the book could not be pulled out of its place and was now back to its original position on its own. At the same time, the bookcase moved forward, startling Anxia, then the shelf shifted to the side.
Little by little, Anxia could see an iron door behind the shifting shelf. The door had no lock or handle, but there was a black box in the middle and a finger-sized glass hole in the box.
Richard stepped forward and spoke, “Richard Zephan Calvin.”
“Voice identity verified.”
Anxia widened her eyes when she heard a strange voice coming out of the black box. A green laser moved from top to bottom the next second, shining on Richard’s right eyeball.
After that, Richard put his thumb into the glass hole, which turned out to be a fingerprint code in the middle of the black box.
“Identification complete. Welcome Young Master Calvin.”
The iron door moved, neither sideways nor opened forward, but moving downwards!
Anxia looked at the long street as soon as the metal door disappeared. The tunnel was like inside a cave because the floor was made of rocks and the rock walls were uneven.
What place is this?
“Let’s go get Lori.”
Ha?
Without asking much, Anxia followed Richard inside, and she heard the sound of the metal door closing again and the bookcase sliding back to its original position.
The two of them walked straight until they found a staircase leading downstairs. Anxia just shook her head, seeing that there was more than one secret passage in this place. The first one was the secret passage inside the wardrobe, and now this.
She wouldn’t be surprised if there were another secret passage in this place.
Alas, she no longer accepted the assassination mission. Even if she still took it, she doubted one would ever give her a royal assassination.
As if he could read her thoughts, Richard told her something unexpected. “Apart from this room and the library, there is also a secret passage in the kitchen.”
Kitchen!?
“When we first came to this place, my father and I liked to explore it, and from there, we found the secret places and remodeled them according to our wishes.” Anxia just silently listened to her husband’s explanation.
Apparently, Richard was trying to reduce their anxiety and worry by talking.
“Like the iron door earlier, initially, there was no iron door when we came. To strengthen security, dad added metal doors as well as identification.”
“Why did your father want to add security?”
Richard turned to his wife and gave her a knowing smile. “You will find out later.”
And as soon as they arrived at the ground floor, Anxia saw that there was something as huge as a luxury car. She did not know that something was a car because the place was very dimly lit and wrapped in black cloth.
The only reliable light was the flashlight from her husband’s phone.
“Wait here.”
Anxia complied and let Richard go to find something. Not long after, the place that had been pitch black became brightly lit, with dozens of lights flashing on in an instant.
Anxia frowned and blinked a few times to adapt to the sudden lighting. Only then did she realize that something big was indeed a car!
The car was facing toward a long tunnel that she did not recognize.
Could it be… that tunnel is the way out of this island!!??
