Chapter 110
110 Ch. 110 Anxia And Quinn’s Encounter
Like Anxia, who was looking for Richard, Quinn also wanted to find Richard because yesterday, the man had avoided her all day. She knew where Richard’s chamber was, but Richard was not there when she came to the third floor.
The palace was huge and had four squares, each having ten to twelve chambers. The main square was part of the palace in the north wing facing the mountains and flower gardens.
Most of Richard’s family preferred to stay in this central square, and Quinn already knew Richard would choose the chamber on the third floor, yet she found no one.
When Quinn asked the maids about the chamber that Richard selected, they sealed their lips. She couldn’t threaten or fire them. It wasn’t that she lacked authority but that she didn’t want to ruin the image she had built over the years.
Even if that was the case, Quinn didn’t have the power to fire them or punish the maids, considering this castle belonged to Princess Meisya Heinest, Richard’s mother.
However, never once did she expect the maid working here to be an Asian girl when she encountered Anxia by chance. As far as she could remember, Stanley Calvin had never hired anyone other than someone already bound to this place. Why was there a sudden unfamiliar face?
On the other hand, Anxia accidentally bumped into Quinn in the long corridor that connected the main square to the east. Anxia was walking while looking out the window, enjoying the sea view that attracted her for a moment. Anxia knew someone was walking opposite her and observing her, but she gave no care.
Little did she know, Quinn was irritated by Anxia’s inability to do her job.
A maid shouldn’t be allowed to walk the corridor casually while enjoying the view outside when she is not working. If Quinn had been the palace owner, she would fire the maid that instant. Not to mention, her acting as if she was the mistress of the house worsened her mood.
.....
Quinn walked over to Anxia with elegant and graceful steps and stood directly in front of Anxia, blocking her way.
Anxia realized that someone was blocking her way and immediately stopped walking and turned her face toward the person blocking her.
For a moment, Anxia was stunned by the beauty possessed by the person before her.
Her hair was sandy blonde, almost the same color as her daughter’s, while her eyes were the brilliant green of emeralds. Even according to her, the word beautiful could not describe this lady’s beauty.
If Lori had seen this woman, there was no doubt that Lori would have been fond of this beautiful fairy-like woman.
Unbeknownst to her, Lori had already met Quinn, and she did take fancy to the lady. Quinn also sincerely adored Lori and was kind to her because she loved beautiful kids. Furthermore, Lori’s demeanor was so sweet and fun. Which adult doesn’t adore the loveable Lori?
On the other hand, she hated ladies around her age with more beautiful faces than her, as she believed she was the most gorgeous, stunning lady in the world. Therefore Quinn didn’t feel envious because she considered Anxia’s beauty below her standards and didn’t see her as a love rival.
Not that Anxia wasn’t good-looking, but her beauty had failed to make Quinn feel insecure.
“Are you satisfied skimming at me?”
Anxia gasped and felt embarrassed because she was caught worshiping someone’s beauty. She was about to apologize for her impolite behavior but swallowed it when the beautiful woman continued her words.
“Have you finished your work?”
Anxia frowned in confusion at the woman’s question. What work? She recalled she had no job since she married Richard, as her husband forbade her to continue her vocation.
“Can you speak the common language? You don’t seem to understand my mother tongue.”
Anxia’s brow wrinkled even more upon hearing this. She was sure that this woman’s tone was friendly and polite, but she could detect a mocking tone.
“Hm. That’s strange. You shouldn’t be able to work here if you can’t speak the common language. I don’t understand why uncle Stanley hired a stupid maid like you.”
Anxia didn’t know whether she should be angry or laugh. It turned out that this woman assumed she was a maid working in this palace. Is the woman blind? Or had she already decided that she was a maid?
Anxia was wearing a casual, comfy shirt and pants, which were not the uniform of a palace maid at all. But why did this woman think she was a maid? What’s more, this woman called her a stupid maid? Wasn’t that woman more stupid for not being able to tell the difference between a maid and a non-maid?
Who is this woman?
Not long after, Anxia recalled Richard’s request, asking her not to leave the room for the next few days. Richard expressed his reluctance towards meeting his cousin, named Lady Q.
Anxia didn’t know why Richard was unwilling to meet his cousin, but she knew the cousins had a cold war or something at the moment.
Does that mean this awe-striking lady was the infamous Lady Q?
Anxia was starting to feel disdain for a woman skilled at hiding her arrogant attitude by speaking softly and gently, but this lady’s irksome attitude wasn’t enough to make her want to hurt the other lady.
So she didn’t understand why Richard gave the impression that he was afraid Anxia would hurt his cousin.
Anxia flashed her fake smile and then spoke in her mother tongue.
“I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you’re talking about. Excuse me.” Anxia was about to leave Quinn, but the lady surprised her by speaking the same language.
“We can still talk.” Anxia glanced at Quinn, knowing she couldn’t dodge anymore since the lady knew how to speak in her mother tongue. “Do you know where Richard is? I’ll pardon you if you take me to Richard’s place.”
Anxia’s eyebrows rose at the woman’s commanding tone.
Not only was she looking down on her as a maid and bossing her around, but that lady also judged her as if she was at fault?!
