Volume 2 Chapter 64: More Bread!

"Orin said today the oven would be completed!" "Po!" May, Fira, and Mir were bouncing as they walked.

"Mmhmm." Keith nodded.

"More bread!" Michael screamed out. Keith laughed at the sight of them being like this. The five arrived at Orin's workshop.

"Kid, you're here!" Orin was waiting outside for them.

"Orin, did you finish the product?" Keith's eyes sparkled.

"Of course! It's in the back. Come check it out." Keith quickly dashed to the back, and he was excited.

There was a giant black oven.

"This is the exact design." Orin was true to his words!

"Aim to please. But we need to see if it works." "I have the dough ready!" Keith took it out and was ready to bake.

"Perfect! It has five gauges," Keith looked at the dial and was happy. He turned the other dial for the minutes.

"Kid, come over here," Michael called out. Keith turned around to see Orin and Michael had a table flipped, using it as a shield.

May and the other two were already behind it.

"Is that really necessary?" Keith laughed.

"Of course!" "Definitely! We don't have the owl here to protect us! Now get over here!" Keith sighed as he jumped behind the table as well.

They stared at the bread being cooked. Slowly, the dough started to rise as it got baked. Keith and the rest waited until the time went down,

Ting!

"Let's check it out." Keith opened the door, and the tray popped out,

"It's golden!"

"How incredible!

It was the perfect golden ratio.

"This is perfect!" There was no need to poke it. One look was enough to tell the inside was cooked. Keith looked at them,

"You guys can eat it." Keith sliced the bread for them. And they were eating so happily.

"It's been so long." May cried as she ate it!

"Yes!" Michael roared. It had been way too long since they had bread. It was so delicious!

"Tasty!" "Po!" Fira and Mir shouted as they continued to eat it.

"You guys can't be saying this." Orin glared at them. As someone who didn't eat bread every day like them, they had no room to talk!

"We should stress test this more." "Indeed." They couldn't forget about doing this.

Like that, they set it up to maximum heat level. That was the make-or-break point.

And nothing happened.

"One more time?"

"Yep." Keith nodded. He turned the dial one more time. He did that with the bottom one as well.

Nothing. There was no explosion. Even after five times, nothing happened to the oven!

"Eruka!" "Hoorah!" "Yes!" "Po!"  The six screamed in victory! The oven was now completed!

"This is great! With this, we can make so much more bread now!" Keith declared.

The old makeshift oven could bake three loaves at a time. But this one was able to hold 6! That was only one-half of it!

That would make 12 loaves!

"What about the other one?" Orin asked.

"Wait, you finished both of them?" Keith blinked a few times, "Did you not get any sleep?!"

How could the second be done?!

"Nope. I had no sleep. But I'm fine, Kid. I can last a week without sleep. Inventions before everything else! That is the dwarven spirit!" Orin hit his chest.

"Let's test that one then," Keith stated. And like that, they started to test the other one. And it was the same as the first one.

Keith nodded his head.

"The first one could hold about 12 loaves. And the second one could hold 18." Michael drooled from his mouth as he stared at the beauties. He was not alone as May and the other two stared in awe.

"What material did you make the oven out of? And guys, stop drooling at the oven." Keith shook his head.

"I used black iron to make the hull," Orin explained.

"No wonder it didn't explode this time." Michael and May understood.

"Hmm? What's black iron?" Keith, Fira, and Mir tilted their heads.

Orin explained, "Black iron is one of the heaviest metals. It's sturdy and strong enough to withstand an A-rank monster's attack."

"But it's absurdly heavy. So it's not used for armor and weapons but for buildings," May added.

"I see." Keith turned to Orin, "How much does it cost?"

"A few gold coins," Orin stated.

"Kid, you don't have to worry about it. Your parents will definitely pay for it." Michael knew that for sure!

There was no need to ask this question.

"Now, how do we get it back home?" Keith brought up a question that no one had thought of.

...

"Pull, Michael! Pull!" Keith roared from the back.

"I'm pulling?! Are you guys even pushing?!"
