Volume 2 Chapter 30: Walking Around The Village
"I see. Be sure to be careful." Rebecca smiled as she continued to talk with Sophia.
Like that, the four were off. It took a minute to arrive at the village. Keith realized it was much smaller than the town. But that was expected as it was a village.
While the two walked around, Sarah continued to stick close to Keith. She explained, "This is the shopping district. We buy most of our things here."
"Young Lady, who do you have with you?" One of the vendors asked.
Sarah smiled, "A friend."
"Ohoho, do you guys want some potatoes? They're freshly steamed."
"Sure." Sarah smiled. Keith nodded as he took two steamed potatoes. One for Mir and Fira, the other one for himself.
The two munched on the potatoes. Seeing them eat, Keith stared at the potato.
Oh. These are sweet potatoes. Keith realized with the colors. He turned to Sarah, "Are these potatoes local here?"
"Mmhmm. This is a staple in our village."
"I see," Keith nodded his head when he heard that. I should buy some of these. He made a mental note of this. Like this, Keith continued to walk with Sarah by his side.
"Is something the matter?" Keith looked down at Sarah, who had a blushing expression.
"Nothing. Just a little hot today."
"Let me help you." Keith raised his hand and placed it around her face.
"Huh?!" Sarah was surprised. Her face cooled like that.
"Better?"
"You can use magic?"
"Mmhmm." Keith nodded, "Let's return now. There's nothing else we need to do."
"Ok."
...
When they returned, they were called into the dining room. Ryan asked, "Did you have fun touring our village today, Keith?"
Keith nodded, "Mmhmm. I had a fun time. Sarah was a great guide." Throughout their walk, Sarah guided him to every place without a thought.
Sarah's expression turned red. Rebbecca looked at her daughter with surprise but understood as she stayed silent.
A smile was on her face.
But Jack continued to be stoic as he stared at Keith.
"That's great." Ryan nodded, "Also, do you want to train against our knights? I think it would be great training to see the Knights of the Freed Estate in action."
"I'm down." "Sure." Derek and Keith nodded.
"Now then, let's eat." Ryan smiled as the maids brought the food to the table. Keith and Derek ate calmly. But Keith had to kick Derek from time to time.
He could see Derek's expression contorting.
But he understood why he was acting like this. It was the food they used to eat.
They have to suck it up and eat. It would be rude if they did something. William and Sophia were calm as they ate as well.
When they were finished, Keith went back into his room. He was happy as he lay in his bed. Aria flew beside him.
"No fair!" "Po!" Fira and Mir jumped onto his body as well.
"Thanks, you three." Keith hugged the three as he went to bed.
...
The next day, Keith woke up and stretched his body. He didn't wait as he walked outside. Derek was already in the training area with Michael and William.
"Let's warm up first," William suggested. Keith and Derek nodded as they started to jog around the training area. The knights followed behind them as they ran.
William and Michael were in front of everyone, controlling the pace. It didn't take long before they were done.
"Keith and Derek, you two are up."
"Yes!" "Understood!"
Keith nodded as he followed Derek and raised his sword in the air. Like that, the two started to spar. Michael and William watched the two fight,
"They have grown so much."
"Indeed."
"But the one who grew the most is Derek."
"Yes," It wasn't Keith, Alvin, or Eric. Derek was the one who grew the most.
"He was originally the one who had the highest aptitude of the three," William stated.
Before Keith was born, Derek had the best latent abilities. Alvin topped everyone in magic, while Eric was the same with the sword. But Derek was an all-rounder.
He wasn't lacking in anything. He might be a little bit lower than Michael and Alvin. But it wasn't by that much.
In terms of swordsmanship and magic, Keith and Derek's abilities were about the same right now. The difference between the two was their attitude. Keith was earnest.
But when Derek was at his age, he was carefree.
He didn't care as much in the beginning. But he was taking it seriously now.
"I guess it's because he doesn't want to lose to his little brother." Michael laughed. William nodded.
He wanted to keep the pride of an older brother.
"But the two still have a long way to go." William nodded to that.
"Can you guys not talk like that?" Ryan quipped as he walked beside the two. He was staring at how Keith and Derek fought.
They weren't fighting like trainees.
"These two are really talented for their age. I don't think anyone could beat them in their age group." Ryan added.
"Age won't matter in a real fight," Michael added,
"And they need to work harder."
