Volume 2 Chapter 27: Aidios, kid.
In the carriage, Keith gazed out the windows. He was looking at the outside world. This would be the first time he would travel outside the town. He asked Sophia,
"Mother, how long will it take to get out of the snowy regions?"
"It would take a few days, Dear."
"Ok." Keith nodded as he continued to look out the window. Aria was doing the same thing as she perched on Keith's shoulder.
"Young Master, would you like some tea?" "Sure." Keith nodded. The carriage they were in was gigantic. It was enough to hold at least eight people.
They were even able to include a table here as well!
Derek and William sat on one side while May, Sophia, and Keith sat on the other. As Keith sipped on his tea, he continued to look out the window in marvel. Time passed quickly.
"William, we're going to set up camp for lunch," Michael said through the window.
"Alright." William turned to the rest, "We should stretch before we continue."
"Ok!" Keith and Derek were the first to jump out of the carriage. When they did, they saw that Michael and the other knights had set up a small camp.
"What are we going to have for lunch?" When William said that, all eyes locked on Keith. They were full of expectations.
"Before I left, I made some sandwiches for us." Keith took out a picnic basket from his storage. It was a giant one. He asked Orin to make one before they left.
William and the rest's eyes sparkled when they heard that. New dish.
"What is a sandwich?" Derek questioned.
"It's basically filling in between two pieces of bread. You could put many types of ingredients in there."
"Oh!" It was a simple and genius idea.
"What kinds of sandwiches did you make?"
"I made four kinds of sandwiches. Please take one." William and the rest didn't hesitate to pick one up.
"Mmm!" Sophia smiled as she took a bite, "This one tastes fresh and crisp."
"Ahh, I put ham, tomato, and lettuce into that."
"This one is egg and mayo!" Derek added,
"That's an egg salad sandwich." It was simple to make mayo. He had everything he needed.
"And that one is a chicken salad sandwich," Keith explained the sandwiches he packed. While he did that,
"Kid, can I get one as well?" Michael asked. But the knights questioned, "Commander, we are on duty!"
"I know how you feel, but you shouldn't do that!"
"Shut it." Michael scowled. But he couldn't help himself. The way they were eating made it too delicious. No way he could substitute that with dried meat and stale bread!
"Sure. You guys can have this." Keith took out another basket, "I made this for you guys. It has the same thing as ours."
"Horah!"
"The young master is the best!"
Michael and the knights quickly went to town on the sandwiches. Keith didn't look at them. He continued to eat his steak sandwich. While he was doing that,
Dud!
"Huh?"
"It came from the carriage." While they ate, everyone noticed a sound. They turned their heads to see that one of their cargo boxes was on the floor.
"Michael, you tightened the cargo up, right?" William questioned.
"Of course. I wouldn't forget something like that." Michael retorted. But when he did, the crate started to jump up and down!
"!"
"Did someone pack a living thing?!" Derek retorted.
"No one did!"
Keith took his sword out of the storage. Michael also got ready too. Michael took point as he opened the crate. And when he did,
"I thought I was going to die!"
"Bo!"
"Mir, Fira?!" Keith shouted when he saw the spirit and the Samui together.
"Po!" Mir quickly dashed towards Keith and jumped into his arms.
"Why are the two of you here?!" Keith was surprised to see them here. He turned to Fira,
"Didn't you say you would stay in the village?"
Fira scratched her head, "Mir said he wanted to come with you. So, I lead the way. Here we are now."
"..." Keith had nothing to say. He got the picture. Fira lied so that she could bring Mir with him. The two jumped into one of the cargo.
And they almost passed out from sitting there too long.
"Hoho." Aira shook her head, scolding the two. Fira looked down, and Mir was the same.
Keith turned to Sophia and the others, "Is it fine to bring them with us?"
"We're already too far away to return." William chuckled. His son's familiars were daring.
"Let me tell Shiro then." Keith messaged Shiro.
It was only a second before he turned to the two,
"Mir, you can come with us. But be prepared when you return. Miyuki is really mad at you. She might spank your behind like no tomorrow."
"..." Mir let out a goofy look on his face.
"Aidios, kid." Michael shook his head as he saluted the little baby.
