Chapter 41: Arrival
Chapter 41: Arrival
We sat in silence for the most part, I was too busy thinking to myself what might transpire during the academy while my instructor looked like he was in his own world.
Not much had to be said, although I did have to ask one more question because it was really bothering me.
"How are we going to be able to talk to them? Do they understand the Human language as well like the Elves?"
"There should be a gold plated wrist band in that bag of yours which automatically translates everything for you, I completely forgot about it whoops."
I looked at the man and wanted to kill him, how this dumbass could forget something so important was beyond me. I opened up my bag then grabbed the wrist band and equipped it to my left wrist.
The wrist band became tight on my skin and I felt a mana force go through my entire body.
I looked at the runes on it hoping I could translate them, but quicky found out that I couldn't at all. I wondered to what extent this artifact would be able to translate other languages as we humans did not know any other races language.
We than sat in silence again until it was finally time to leave, my instructor had gotten up and I had followed behind him while making sure to grab my school bag.
'Simply execute the mission, calm down and merely adapt to the situation. Be prepared for everything that can happen and make sure to make it back home.'
....
We had arrived at the room where the array was set up and walked inside. The room had windows, so the sunrise had illuminated the room a dark orange. I looked at the floor to see that it was stone with the array engraved into it.
The array covered the entire floor, the array had looked like two horns as well as a small circle that had the same type of runes as the wrist band.
The horns were filled in with complicated lines that almost made the horns look like they were colored in. This simply showed how complex this array truly was, I have never seen one this big before either.
The size of the room wasn't small either, it looked to be as big as a basement under a rich person's home.
"Go stand in the middle of those runes, once you're there I have to pump my mana into this array which will teleport you straight to the academy. I'll ask you if you're ready before I begin."
I followed my instructor's orders and went to stand in the middle of the runes which was also the dead center of the array.
I reached the center and tried to calm down my breathing, I was feeling extremely scared and anxious this entire time as I didn't trust the array. I grabbed my bag tightly and closed my other first as hard as I could to steel myself for this situation.
"Azrail are you ready?"
"Yes." I said in a deep tone as to make the message clear to my head that I was ready for this.
The corners of the array started to light up the entire room in a neon aquatic blue. All of the lines started to glow and slowly made its path into the runes in the middle which started to glow a bright purple.
Suddenly an extremely loud static noise started to ring out, it was like I was right under a serve thunderstorm. My ear drums felt like they were about to burst, the room started to shake violently almost knocking me off my balance.
The room had gotten so bright and with all that was going on I just closed my eyes and hoped I wouldn't die.
After what seemed to be an eternity suddenly everything stopped, it finally felt like everything when back to normal. I slowly opened my eyes and saw a person's back.
I quickly looked around me and my heart sank, I was in the back of a large group of humans that were surrounded by what seemed to be like knights.
It looked like we were in some grand hall, multiple chandeliers were hung across the ceiling giving the entire hall light. The hall easily fit our group and with the number of heads I saw it seemed like I was the last one to arrive.
I tried to see anyone's expression, but I could only see the back of their heads. I could not sense the knights at all meaning they could wipe the floor with me.
Their armor looked to be highly maintained as well since all of them looked to be shining. The all had golden helmets with silver body armor finishing the look. Each knight also carried a great sword which seemed like it was the size of my damn body.
I saw one of the knights I was staring at turn their head, I quickly looked away and my heart felt like it was about to jump out of my chest.
'Are they grouping us up to kill everyone at the same time? Just what in the world is happening and why isn't anyone talking!'
I was panicking, I had looked all around yet I couldn't find a single escape route. The knights had us completely circled in which I didn't like one bit. It seemed like there was nothing I could do and was about to receive the death penalty for my sins.
"Greeting humans my name is Alvixa and I will be your guide for a short amount of time. It makes me very happy to have you all here at our academy, I truly want to thank all of you for trusting us enough to come here today. Words cannot describe the amount of respect I have for each and every one of you here today.
I do not want all of you standing here all day, so I will go over some important information now and have all of you read the rule book on your own time. Starting from tomorrow there will be two weeks until classes finally start, during this time I would suggest you get use to the campus grounds and the capital as well. All of you will be able to explore our entire country if you so wished but be careful as not every citizen is so accepting of this.
The other races will also be here later today, so if you would like to make friends with some of them feel free to do so. Okay now I will show you where your dorms will be, upon entering the dorm make sure to give the receptionist your name and they will provide you with your room number and key. Once you enter your rooms there will be a white backpack which will contain the rulebook I spoke about as well everything you will be needing. Now then everyone follow me."
The woman's voice was beautiful, her caring voice made my nerves calm down to an extreme extent. Since I was in the back of the group and wasn't tall at all I couldn't see the woman, but I imagined that she was quite the beauty.
The translation was also perfect, it was like speaking to another human which made me wonder just how it worked.
The group had started to move and I simply followed behind them, although my nerves had calmed down, I was still highly alert.
I trusted no one here.
