Chapter 53: Zhang Jian!
Every student other than the ones who had come due to the scholarship program is cocky. They felt they have some sort of privileges because of how wealthy their parents are. But the librarian felt Lu Chen is the oddball to this. He admits to his mistakes instead of talking back to him. However, this is only for a few seconds. After the librarian grumbles for a bit, he went back to reading.
When Lu Chen arrives back to the classroom, he notices a shivered-up skeleton next to his seat. It was Zhang Jian, and he looks even worse than when Xiao Lao Shi had scolded him before.
“Zhang Jian, what happen to you?” Lu Chen left for only 15 minutes. He looks in shock, wondering how Zhang Jian became so horrible from such a short time. His body looks so fragile that just the slightest touch from Lu Chen is enough to turn him into dust. This is like the third time now. Lu Chen wonders if this will be a daily occurrence with Zhang Jian.
Hearing how Lu Chen was so oblivious of what happened to him, Zhang Jian comes back to life and gives him a death stare, “I’m like this because of you!” He grabs him by the shoulders and starts to shake the life out of Lu Chen.
“Hey! Stop shaking my shoulder! And how is this my fault!” Lu Chen pushes Zhang Jianb’s hand away and looks at him in confusion on why he’s being blamed for something he didn’t cause.
Zhang Jian grits his teeth and looks up to Lu Chen’s hair in resentment, “This is all because of your hair! Every second, girls come up to me and ask about you! The man wonders if it's possible for him to transplant long hair onto Lu Chen’s head.
While Zhang Jian was looking at Lu Chen in anger, Lu Chen, on the other hand, starts to shutter in fear from hearing the girls asking about him, “What did they ask about?” If Zhang Jian told them any personal information about him, Lu Chen is ready to end his friendship with him.
“Relax, I said that you were a transfer student. Even I know you wouldn’t like it. Besides, if I told them that you were my best friend, the number of questions I would receive would be endless, and I would have died.” Zhang Jian sighs in exhaustion, as the number of questions they asked were still a lot.
“Does the transfer student have a girlfriend? Why didn’t you tell us that there was such a handsome transfer student coming in?!” Zhang Jian continues to list off the things the girls asked about Lu Chen. And Lu Chen's mouth became wider and wider.
Before Lu Chen’s jaw could drop to the floor, his mouth shuts up as quickly as possible. He stares at what is behind Zhang Jian.
“Zhang Jian.”
“How the hell is it my fault that I didn’t tell them that we have a new transfer student?!”
“Zhang Jian.”
“Seriously, those girls are just shallow-hearted and pigheaded. They are so blind that they can’t even see a handsome person right in front of them.”
“Zhang Jian.”
“So what if you’re a little bit more handsome than me, but god damn, I still got good looks as well!”
“Zhang Jian!”
“What?!” Zhang Jian shouts at Lu Chen. He was already annoyed by the girls, and when Lu Chen continues to interrupt his rant, his rage meter broke through the limit. But then he notices Lu Chen’s sweaty face and realizes something is wrong.
Lu Chen didn’t say anything as he points his finger, signaling Zhang Jian to turn around. Zhang Jian turns around to see the group of girls that he had been questioned by are now coldly looking at him like he is scum.
Sweating buckets like Lu Chen, Zhang Jian makes a wry smile and explains quickly, “Fellow beauties, I didn’t mean what I said.” Before he could say his explanation, the group of girls had already walked past him, ignoring him, and walks up to Lu Chen instead.
