Chapter 64: Execution From Sea
Chapter 64: Execution From Sea
Just as Baltaolu Sleyman Bey finished his words, a series of Nordic Viking horns can be heard from the seas.
Talmi frowned and looked at the direction of the seas, to his shock, a fleet of small boats with men on top holding up their axes roaring and screaming in an unknown tongue showed up out of no where from the seas and came paddling towards the dock as fast as they can.
The Kapudan Pasha Baltaolu Sleyman Bey realised what is going on, used up last bit of his strength and tripped Talmi causing him to fall on the ground and ordered in a wretched husky voice. "What are you waiting for! You son of a peasant! As the Kapudan Pasha, I order you to regroup our forces, break through the Roman encirclement, and bring as many men out of this cursed place as possible!"
After that, he lost his last bit of strength, released his hands on Talmi's boots, head dropped onto the ground, never to open his eyes again. However, he did awake Talmi from the shock. With tears in his eye sockets, he stood back up, drew Baltaolu Sleyman Bey's sword from his abdomen and started giving orders on his behalf.
The coming ships carries people non other than Yuri, the Varangians and the marines. Apparently they never left the battle, they stayed in the middle of the port hiding away from the enemies replenishing their strength and energy while sharpening their weapons rewashing their rugs waiting for a perfect chance to return to the battlefield and strike back.
And now is the perfect time Yuri has being longing for.
Four hundred Varangians and marines stormed onto the dock. Yuri, being the first of them to jump onto the platform with a ready to strike posture, with his left hand gripping the rear of his battle axe 'Stika's handle which has a slightly curved wooden handle to prevent the axe from falling off the holder's hand. Then his right hand slightly in front of the middle section of the axe, with both of his eyes on the front where the blade of the axe and his right hand is pointing at.
"Remember ya folks! Remember what mi taught you! Use the weight of ya axe to slay people! Do not wave it randomly with no freaking purpose! Ya will run out of muscles even before seeing the blood of ya enemy!" Yuri yelled as he rose the heavy axe high in the air sending it down on the shoulder of an enemy soldier, with the advantage of the heavy axe's sheer weight, Yuri sliced the poor man all the way from his left shoulder to his right thigh cutting the man into half, blood spatted out of the separated body like a bottle of red wine. Successfully getting himself the first kill in the second wave of Varangian assault.
Stimulated by the scent of blood, the bravery of their leader and the heat wave of the intense battle, the other Varangians let out waves after waves of ear shattering Viking battle cries, jumping and rushing into action anxious that their kills and head counts will be taken away by their counterparts.
The Nordic Viking fighting style of these Varangians gave many Ottomans soldiers quite a fright, especially after witnessing their buddies getting chopped into half helplessly and their intestines splattering all over the ground. It shocked them so much that some of the less determined ones already have their feet and swords shaking.
The last straw that overwhelmed the spiritual defence soon came.
In the heat of the battle, or slaughter by the dockside, a varangian called Harald who supposedly has slain the evil wyvern of the Yggdrasil, cut a man into half like that of Yuri with his Scandinavian curved axe, the only difference is that the poor man tried to put up a defence by raising his Kilij blade high up, but instead the axe broke his Kilij into half and the axe came straight through his helmet into his skull, making him die almost instantly.
Frustrated that his axe is stuck in the middle of someone's head, Harald let out a huge roar like that of a brown bear, raised the axe with the corpse into the air again and smashed it against the ground, this time with an irresistible force the axe ran through the torso of the corpse coming out from the waist.
"Who is next!" Roared Harald as he wipes the clotted blood and other substances off his eyes. "Who want to face me, Harald of Islandia! Come out!"
Obviously no one came out, instead with each step Harald and other Varangians step forward, the Ottoman soldiers back off by one step, which made Harald even more triggered.
"Is it you want to fight me!" Harald points his axe tip with blood still dripping towards one man before him. "Or is it you!?"
This sent a shiver done the spines of the two men and they immediately, although the two of them cannot understand what the hell is this big man talking about, they still shook their head vigorously as this is what their instinct of survival told them to do so.
"Oh God blessings then why do you even raise your blades!" Completely triggered, Harald stormed towards the man with his axe raised high into the air longing for his next target.
The man immediately dropped his Kilij turned back and started squeezing his counterparts to run for his life. This became like the start of a domino effect, which the cumulative morale and spiritual strength of the Ottoman army is now fully depleted, they started throwing down their weapons, jumping down into the water, running away or surrender, anything that can make them survive.
Once the tide of a defeat comes, there is no way to stop it.
Talmi runs back and forth desperately executing one after another soldier who tries to escape but it is to no avail, no one listens to him anymore, all they care now, is like what Baltaolu Sleyman Bey said just now.
They want to get the hell out of this place.
