Chapter 781: A Weird Alchemy Lesson
I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing but it seems like Odeta now has a new obsession of having me summon Shadow Guards for her to throw herself at in order to train.
That sort of actually started a trend as the other maids also started to request the same from me and we ended up arranging specific days of each week where we would stage training sessions just for this.
I don't really mind because the servants would make sweets for me in return which I would thoroughly enjoy after our training sessions together. That's why it was a win win situation for me~
Also, I would just like to say that my Shadow Guards seem to work really well together even without my input. Good thing I was still summoning more of them every night before I go to bed
Speaking of which, I have started using them to help me investigate the students to look for the potential Off-Worlder amongst them.
Why did I need to rely on them instead of just using [Screened]? Well here's the problem…
Remember the students that the girls have pointed out to me that they felt were weird? I have already used my [Screened] on them and none of them had the 'Off-Worlder' title.
Even the guy who tried to slip an aphrodisiac to Lisa did not have the title.
Incidentally, today was my Alchemy class so I would be meeting him 'officially' for the first time.
I say 'officially' because I stalked him for a bit to decide if I should beat him up for trying to drug Lisa.
Well, I didn't beat him up in the end but I did check for his stats at least.
[Name: Bracca

Yeah, seeing those titles on him basically explained everything… Also, seems like he was really going for a jack of all trades kind of thing.
Anyway, he joined our class and he seemed to have intentionally taken a spot as close to Lisa as he could.
There wasn't any competition for that spot because everyone in the class did not want to be close to Lisa because of her reputation as a strict and cold teacher.
And obviously I took the position at the very back of the class so that no one would be looking here when Lisa inevitably comes to me to sneak a few kisses with me during class.
I already know that this guy probably has a crush or something on Lisa and wanted to be as close to her as possible. But the ironic thing was that Lisa would usually be moving around the class instead of just standing there so he actually picked the worst place to be for staying near her.
As we waited for Lisa to arrive to start the class, I took the chance to prepare my own materials for the class.
That was when I felt a gaze on me and I looked up to see that guy staring at me in a not so friendly way.
Err… Why are all these people so unfriendly towards me?
There's the girl with Delmare, then the boys with Odeta and now it's this guy in Lisa's class…
Was it something I did? That can't be right? Since I literally only met all these people recently…
Before I could think too much about it, the door opened and Lisa stepped in in her usual teacher's attire and the atmosphere in the room immediately tensed up.
The guy also swivelled his head to watch Lisa as she went over to her table.
"Alright class, today we're going to do pair work again. Pick a partner first before we continue," Lisa instructed immediately.
I turned my gaze towards Yisra, expecting myself to partner up with her since I have worked together with her before.
But before I could approach her, the guy came to me instead.
"Hey. You're Aster right? I'm Bracca, let's pair up."
Looking behind him, I could see that Yisra had been in the midst of approaching me but stopped when she saw this guy standing in front of me.
Now she looked unsure of herself and was just standing there watching us.
I gave him a polite smile before nodding in Yisra's direction, "Sorry but I already have someone else I plan to partner up with."
He turned to see where I was nodding at and frowned when he saw Yisra before he turned back to me, "I'm clearly better than her. I can tell she isn't even that good at Alchemy so she would be pulling you down instead. Aren't I the better choice?"
I shook my head, "I didn't pick my partners based on their alchemy skills."
"Oh yeah? Then why would you pick her over me?"
"Hmm? Isn't it obvious? Because she's cuter than you."
Bracca's brows lowered slightly, "You're joking right? Are you seriously picking an inferior student to pair up with you? You know what you're doing is just upsetting professor Lisa right?"
"Upsetting professor Lisa? Why?"
He gave me an exasperated look, "The fact that you don't even know… Don't you even know that professor Lisa expects the best out of all of us? I've heard how much of a troublesome student you are, don't think I'm ignorant about you."
I tilted my head, genuinely curious, "How am I a troublesome student?"
"I heard about it and don't even deny it, professor Lisa constantly tells you to stay back after class to give you extra lessons, doesn't she?"
I need my entire reserve of willpower not to facepalm in front of him.
The fact that I didn't do it should be some kind of achievement to be honest.
"Do you… Do you know why she asks me to stay back for extra lessons in the first place?" I asked.
"It's obviously because you're a failing student aren't you? Why else would she ask you to stay behind?"
To have sex, duh.
Well, obviously I couldn't tell him the real reason but seriously… To everyone else in this class, Lisa was asking me to stay back to give me more advanced lessons because I was already excelling in her class.
And there was definitely no doubt that they thought so because the classmates near us who heard what Bracca said all gave him an utterly confused look.
He didn't even wait for me to correct him before he gestured to himself, "You should be jumping at my offer you know? I've already reached Iron Tier in Alchemy so I can help you get better at it."
I raised my hand, "Ummm… You're a little mistaken here…"
He scoffed, "I knew you would try to deny it but no need to bother, I've done my research on you and I have reports from multiple sources saying that in professor Lisa's classes, you're always made to stay behind. This week I also saw her asking you to stay back for your Lumenmancy class because you couldn't get a spell right."
Ironically, he's right about that one…
Also… Lisa and I ended up just fucking each other in her classroom that day and I hadn't found out how to increase the strength of my light constructs yet because she was too busy trying to get me to screw her to teach me.
I shook my head, "No, no… I don't deny that Li… Ahem… Professor Lisa tells me to stay back most of the time. But it's because she's giving me advanced classes because I'm ahead of the class… Not because I'm behind it."
He actually rolled his eyes at me, "Yeah sure. I believe you. You think I'm stupid or something?"
I was just about to suggest that he could ask Lisa herself if he didn't believe me but the person in question appeared behind me just as I thought of that.
"Aster, Baracca, both of you are really free to be over here gossiping instead of paying attention to class it seems."
Bracca jumped and quickly shook his head, "Not… Not at all professor Lisa! I swear I was just discussing with her to form a team!"
I decided to just ask Lisa, "Professor Lisa… You usually tell me to stay back after class because--"
"Because you need all the help you can get, obviously," Lisa answered before I could finish my question.
Eh? Wait… Why was she saying it in such a way?
Lisa continued, "You would do well to learn from Bracca, he's quite experienced as an alchemist. In fact, both of you stay after class. I'll have Bracca teach you some tricks that you can use to improve yourself."
Without another word, she turned and walked off.
…
What? Did Lisa really just say that?
