Chapter 27: What is the Truth? (1)

Chapter 27: What is the Truth? (1)

The advanced undead finished coming from underground as they stood there, waiting for Trickster (Ari) to command them; there were about 60 of them.

'Ha! She used to produce thousands of these things; I guess coming here weakened her.' Siren laughed.

Neban was getting ready to question Siren but stopped, gripping the sword even harder once he saw the monster bringing her hand up.

The monster flicked her wrist, causing weapons made from bone to appear in the undead hands. Once the undead had weapons in their hands, they rushed at Neban.

Neban moved back as he copied the Mage (Mage fire is hotter than Shadow Fire), using [Fire Blast x2] to burn the undead. They did not have durable bodies like Neban thought they would as the fire wholly burned most of them.

But, the burning of their brethren did not stop the remaining undead from still coming at him. Five of the monsters swung at him, causing Neban to catch their swings with Siren before pushing them back.

The undead stumbled back before coming at Neban again. It seemed that they were not bothered by other things; their main goal was to attack Neban.

Ari, or Trickster, was in the back smirking as she watched her creations attack Neban. She knew they could not do anything because her power was weak at the moment, but the woman wanted to slow down Neban.

Neban clicked his tongue before using [Fire Blast x2] again because it was effective against the undead. Most of them could not evade the fire or were not trying as there were only two remaining.

Deciding not to use fire this time because there were only two left, Neban lifted Siren, who began to complain about undead blood as he swiftly attacked the small monsters, cutting through their bodies.

Neban diagonally cut the two remaining undead, causing the bodies to hit the ground as black blood flowed from the wounds.

The bodies' upper parts were still moving as only one arm was holding onto their weapon. There was a trail of black blood as the undead slowly moved towards Neban.

Neban scrunched his nose as he saw the undead still trying to attack him. He brought his free hand down as he pointed his finger at one of them before using [Shadow Beam] towards its forehead.

There was a hole in the middle of the forehead before the undead went down. Neban moved towards the other one, doing the same thing. Even though both of them were down, they were still twitching, trying to move.

Neban finally used [Fire Blast] to burn the undead, burning them into a crisp. During this, he could not catch Trickster moving as she appeared in front of him, sinking her weapon into his shoulder.

Neban winced at the pain as Siren took matters in its hand as it transformed itself into a spear, causing it to stab Trickster in her stomach.

The monster growled at the move as she moved back, pulling out her weapon along the way. 'Don't let her get far!' Siren yelled in his mind as it transformed back into a sword.

Neban followed the monster's movement as he swiftly swung his sword with one hand while using the other one, with the injured shoulder to use [Shadow Beam x3].

Trickster blocked the sword as she let her wound bleed, but she was too distracted to stop the beam as it hit her in the same spot.

The wound was more significant, showing a small part of the inside her stomach as blood started to flow more freely.

The monster let out a screech of pain before angrily attacking Neban. Each swing of her weapon was hard and aggressive as Neban tried to block each one.

The wound on his shoulder worsened as he had to use both of his hands to block.

The weapons sounded bad as they clanged together with each hit. "You stupid little human think you can hurt me! I will skin you and feed you to my children!" Trickster yelled as her face was red with fury.

Water began to build under Neban's feet as it started to move up. Neban tried to escape from the water but could not as Trickster kept attacking him.

The water reached his arms as wind started to blend with it, cutting his arms and legs as the water moved faster and sharper.

Neban gritted his teeth at the pain as he was still trying to block all of Trickster's moves, as she was beginning to laugh with a crazy undertone at the way she was hurting him.

'I swear if you die, and I end up in that filthy woman's hand-" Siren started but did not finish as Neban gave a small growl before throwing Siren to the ground.

The weapon tried to complain at Neban's stupid move as he did not listen.

Trickster smirked, thinking that the human was giving up as she stabbed her weapon in his stomach. But it did not connect nor go through as Neban's body seemed to turn transparent.

The monster looked shocked and confused as she looked at Neban's smirking face.

"I did not want to use these two moves because they take too much energy, but I am growing tired of this fight," Neban spoke as his body was like a ghost.

Neban used [Shadow Ghost] and moved closer to the monster before solidifying his hand and grabbing the woman. Once he had her in his hold before she could react, Neban opened his mouth and whispered, "[Black Hole]."

Trickster tried to move away as she heard those words, feeling fear for the first time, but she could not go anywhere as a small black hole formed behind her, sucking her back.

The monster opened her mouth to speak or even yell at Neban, but he put his hand over her mouth and silently used [Shadow Fire] to burn it.

Trickster let out a muffled scream as Neban let her go, letting the black hole suck in her whole body. When the hole and the monster were gone, Neban stumbled to the ground, sweating hard as his body was back in its solid form.

'Hey! Human!' Siren called as Neban was sitting on the ground, trying to catch his breath as the moves did take most of his energy.

After a few minutes of resting and ignoring Siren calling him, Neban finally moved as he reached for the bags that were still there.

He needed to dress his wounds and eat something before he could get up and go home.

'Human, I am calling you!' Siren screamed again as its voice sounded low since he moved further from it to reach the bags.

'Shut up, I can hear you. I need to do something real quick before getting you. And once we leave here. I need an explanation about what is happening.' Neban responded.

It seemed that things were becoming complicated as monsters from the dungeon were able to play as humans and leave the place with no problems.

Plus, Neban wanted to know more about the other worlds that the monster was speaking about; he could not wait any longer for the information.

Once he reached one of the full bags, he opened one of the pockets and pulled out the first aid kit to dress his wounds and ultimately heal the small ones (the whole time, Neban has been ignoring the pain that the wounds were giving him).

He also took out some food and water he saw to give some energy back into him. Neban would eat them after he took care of the pressing matter. He would also need to use [Creation] to make himself some new clothes.

After, Neban thought that he might need to call Xan to help him cover up what happened in this dungeon and make sure that his name does not entirely go through with showing that he was one of the porters today.

Neban reached home as he had bags in his hand; Siren was silent the whole way there. When he entered and walked into the living area, Xan and Theo sat on the couch, watching a movie.

When they heard him, Theo ran towards him, causing Neban to drop the bags as he picked up his son. Xan walked over as he looked at the bags on the ground before glancing back at Neban.

Neban talked to him about what happened in the dungeon before coming home. Xan told him that he would take care of the rest, and all Neban had to do was bring the bags.

"I believe it is time to take my leave. Bye, Theo. And Neban, do not worry, I will take care of what happened. No one will know you were there, and it would be counted as an accident." Xan spoke as he picked up the bags and began to walk to the front door.

Theo looked confused at what they were talking about while Neban softly spoke, "Thank you."

Xan gave a nod that he heard him before walking out.

"What was that about, Papa?" Theo curiously asked.

"Do you want to lay in bed and watch your favorite show?" Neban asked, changing the subject.

Theo pouted at that but nodded anyway. As Neban walked to the bedroom with Theo in his arms, he called for Siren.

'Siren, we need to talk. I am tired of waiting; I need you to tell me more about the dungeons.'

Siren did not answer his call, and he tried again, only to internally sigh at the weapon, which remained silent. Every time he wanted to learn about the dungeons, Siren would either ignore him or make excuses.

Even if he had to bother the thing every day, Neban would force the sword to tell him about the dungeons.
