Chapter 894 What A Disgrace!
What a disgrace!
Yao Yuan's face was shaded magenta as he looked from side to side. At this point, he wanted nothing more than to leave the banquet hall and never come back again.
Today was his mother's birthday. It was only natural for his business partners to attend, and they'd all heard how great Yao Ran's results had been.
However, now that her score had been exposed, all his business partners had different looks on their faces. Their eyes were narrowed as their lips were curled.
He didn't know what to do!
If he were to step in and snap at them, it would look as if he, the host, were bullying his guests. If he'd let all of this continue, they'd lose all their reputation.
Yao Yuan couldn't help but sigh.
Qin Man scowled. "Your child was placed last in his class, and you had the nerve to judge my daughter? Why don't you concentrate on raising your own kid?"
It was true that the boy had not scored well.
The teen bowed his head as his face colored in shame. His fingernails dug into his palms. It was due to his academic deficiencies that his mother was being shamed in front of everyone.
However, the lady didn't appear outraged by her response.
Instead, she placed a comforting hand on her son's shoulder as a slow smile graced her lips. She appeared quite elegant in comparison to the bright-faced woman in front of her.
"My child really doesn't like to study ever since he was young." She chuckled. "But he had always liked to draw. In fact, he had just won first place in an International Drawing Competition. In the many years he had been competing, he had always stayed consistent. He never got zero points, not even on an academic paper."
The other guests snickered.
Her getting zero points were indeed unexpected.
The more subtle guests shared smiles.
Qin Man scowled. The entire banquet boomed with chuckles and giggles, and she couldn't help but clench her fists. The ridicule in their eyes was beyond comparison.
"What's the use of being talented in drawing? The College Entrance Examination would be held this year. Even if he's talented in the arts if he wouldn't be able to get the points to be accepted under a good university, wouldn't that be the end of his road?"
What she said did make sense.
While painting was considered a nice skill, he was already in his third year of high school. The College Entrance Examination was looming above them. If he didn't do well on his exam, he wouldn't be able to get into a good college.
From this angle, painting was indeed useless.
Some of the parents present nodded their heads in agreement.
The lady continued to smile. "Sure, painting may just be a hobby for you, but he's been competing in different international competitions. With his talents, he had been approached by many college scouts with regard to his acceptance."
Then, her smile became sweeter. "As long as my child didn't score zero points, I'm fine with it."
Everyone laughed again.
Compared to the hateful Qin Man, the lady appeared much more demure and cultured.
"You!"
Qin Man was at a loss for words.
Then the smile on her face disappeared. "In my opinion, Madame Yao should focus on taking care of her own daughter. Try not to be fooled by her other outstanding results. If she were to score zero points on this coming examination, everything else would be useless, right?"
There was a sharp edge to her words.
Her eyes narrowed.
Qin Man slowly looked around to see everyone gazing at her with watchful eyes. Her heart squeezed in her chest as she started to find it difficult to breathe.
She could not continue to be like this anymore.
Otherwise, she would be the one to suffer a loss.
"How could this be?" She forced a smile. "Ranran had always been a good student. There must be a mistake with this year's competition, and our family would obviously pursue this matter. Her results would be corrected in a matter of time. Don't worry."
