Chapter 107: Redeeming
Chapter 107: Redeeming
"I'm so sorry, I could not help it, I can't let such a vile person live, he would hurt people again if I let him go," Sol tried to reason.
"Don't try to act just with me, there is no way you human would risk doing so for justice, it's just you justifying what you did," The Goddess expressed in annoyance.
Sol could not refute it, he never thought about justice when he killed them, he was just angry, and such rationale hasn't got into his mind, only after he started that he justifies himself by saying that he was preventing a future problem.
Unable to refute the Goddess, Sol could only nod, he knew that the Goddess was more than the child she looked like.
Her temperament was not like the usual happy and sweet Goddess, she looked really serious, Sol knew that she must have some news for him, he bet that he won't like it.
"It was my fault, I did not think that I would offend Vulcan," He confessed.
"Good if you understand your position, I could not defend you for what you did, we, Gods have a lot of things we better do than taking care of you," She stated.
"of course it was also one of the reasons you are still living up until now, if anyone shares Vulcan's and Gaea's thought about you and was bored enough to take care of you then you would have died long ago."
It made Sol's face froze in horror, he did not think it would go that far, "Did not Vulcan said that he would let me go?" he lamented.
Of course, the Goddess of wisdom knew what he was thinking, She shook her head in disappointment, "There is a lot of ways for us to kill you even without breaking our word, you are just too insignificant for him to care about you."
"Gods are not as magnanimous as you make us to be, we keep grudge better than human, so be sure to not offend others so easily," she reminded him.
Sol nodded in agreement, he had not planned to offend any other God, not even a Lesser God, he would be out of his mind to offend someone on the peak of Godhood when he could not even beat someone one level above him.
He hasn't met any Minor Demigod but from what he knows alone, he knew that killing one was impossible for him, they have resistance against his power which made his highest advantage obsolete.
His versatility with his ability made him sure that he could beat anyone on the same level as long as he was prepared, but if his power were taken out of the equation then he would really be on edge.
"Then are they letting me go?" Sol asked the most important question, it would be bad if one day Gaea or Vulcan comes to knocking on his door, they could also send their underling to take care of him.
"Of course not, you are getting punished for what you did," she explained.
"you are hardly the first person who went against God since you humans start to get power, others who did heinous crime more than you exist, those who are way stronger than you exist as well."
"We already make a way for you to punish you and people like you, but you could also see it as redemption, if you pass it then you could free from the God's vengeance," she finally smiled as if she had done something good.
"I have intervened by telling Vulcan that he needs to punish you accordingly rather than sent people to kill you, you should be thankful that I did," she proudly declares.
"Thank you your cuteness, I'm grateful for your help, but could you explain how is this redemption works?" he asked warily.
Sol did not believe that the God would be so forgiving against him or others who offend them, he did not know that they did of who did they offend but he was sure that Vulcan would not let him go easily.
"Do you know what balance is? We Gods have created it so this world would sustain itself, but now it was destroyed when Apollo died and Pluto closed the gate of the underworld," Minerva started her lecturing mode again.
"The underworld gate was locked from the inside and no one outside could open it, even the Gods would need to get in and open it from the inside."
"But the problem was we could not get in without alerting Pluto, he would just kick us out with his Domain if he notices us, not even a dozen Major God could harm him in the underworld."
"So we thought we should just send people who won't be noticed by Pluto, we could send the secretly and let them open the gate from the inside," She cheekily grinned that Sol could guess whose idea was that.
It indeed possible for someone as insignificant as a lesser demigod to get into the underworld unnoticed, there were a lot of lesser demigod in the underworld, and adding a few more would not attract the God's attention.
"You are sending me to the underworld?" Sol could not keep his cool, it was known that the underworld was not a place for the living and who knows how dangerous it was there.
"Yes, it is your punishment, at least you could survive there, you have hope to live rather than being mercilessly killed by Vulcan," the Goddess said sagely.
"Would I be able to do so? I'm so insignificant that the God won't notice me, how could I open the gate of the underworld?" Sol asked in doubt.
"Of course we did not think you would succeed, the quality might be low so we decide to use quantity to win."
"You will go there as a team with others who commit a crime against the Gods, they would help you as you help them to survive and open the gate," she explained again.
"Your group would not be the only group that we gonna send, there are a lot more people who need to be punished, so you don't need to worry, one day there would be someone who succeeds." She happily said, Minerva was proud of her idea, She was no the Goddess of wisdom for nothing.
"How are you sure that everyone would follow your command? Won't they just live their life there?" Sol asked.
It was a valid question, if people just stay there and no one tries to open the gate then the God's plan is obsolete.
"They will open the gate if they want to live, no one below Lesser God could survive in the underworld, if they did not want to be reduced to nothingness then they should strive to get out of the underworld."
"The only way out is through the gate, we could send you in with some back door that my father, Jupiter made in case of emergency but is a one-way door, you won't be able to get out unless you open the gate of the underworld" She assured him.
The assurance made him depressed rather than happy, He would need to do their bidding there is no way to run from it.
He had thought of running from the punishment before they send him to the underworld but he crosses it out as he would be a fugitive and they might send Major Demigod to kill him.
"Is it hard to survive in there?" Sol asked to get some more information.
"Of course, The underworld is a prison for a lot of mighty being, even Titans comparable to a Major God are imprisoned there," she explained.
"Majority of the population are lesser demigod in there, even Minor Demigod and Major Demigod could easily be found there, they live with survival to the fittest so its understandable that everyone at least a Lesser Demigod," she added.
"Fuck! I'm going to hell?!" Sol was depressed, the underworld was literally hell but he felt that he would be sent to his death.
He would be back at the bottom of the food chain there, he could meet anyone stronger than him any moment.
Being told that it would be survival to the fittest, Sol had a feeling that anything he met in there would be hostile to him.
"When will I get there? You are not sending me now right?" Sol asked.
He told the girls that he would be back soon but if he got send to the underworld then he did not know when he would get back if he ever gets back at all.
"You need to thank me, I have postponed your departure by a month, you can prepare yourself in the meantime." She told him.
He was glad that he had time to prepare, at least he would not directly be sent there, he didn't want the girl to be worried.
"Fuck! How do I tell them I'm going to the underworld? Nerodia is going to send me there before a month passes by!" Sol lamented in realization.
