Chapter 55: A Big Misunderstanding

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: A Big Misunderstanding

Brandon Piers was a man of action.

In the afternoon, he had Kelly and the nanny sent away, then went to the nursery.

Knock, knock, knock!

The restraining and rhythmic knocking sound made Abigail guess it was Brandon, and she had the first-aid kit ready as she opened the door.

As soon as Brandon came in, she urged, “Teddy will wake up soon, hurry and take off your clothes.”

Initially prepared to check on the child, Brandon hesitated. “… Are you in a hurry?”

“A bit.” Ever since that man had inexplicably sprayed her neck with his warm breath, the words, “Whatever I want you’ll give?” frequently floated in her mind, making her neck feel itchy.

It made her feel uncomfortable.

Abigail had never encountered such a situation before, but instinctively felt it wasn’t a good sign, and subconsciously wanted to keep her distance from the man in front of her.

“But I’m not in a hurry.” Brandon leaned back on the sofa. He originally came just to change his bandage, but now he was in no rush to leave, his amber eyes lazily observing Abigail.

Abigail felt uneasy under Brandon’s gaze, as if a large feline was crouched in front of her, seemingly lazy but sharply watching its prey.

And she was that prey.

This feeling was unpleasant. Abigail did not like it.

“Suit yourself, Mr. Piers.” Abigail did not argue and was about to check on Teddy when she was suddenly grabbed by the wrist by the man on the sofa.

Her reflexes made her grab Brandon’s wrist and attempt an over-the-shoulder throw but forgot that she was no longer the Abigail of the past. In her effort, instead of pulling him up, her plump body fell onto Brandon.

“Ugh.”

A muffled grunt sounded next to Abigail’s ear, accompanied by the man’s low, pained gasp.

Abigail’s heart trembled at the sound, remembering his injury and heart condition, hurriedly turned her head only to be met with his enlarged, handsome face, and was dumbfounded by how long his eyelashes were.

Two centimeters, maybe?

“Don’t you know how heavy you are or that I’m injured?” Under pressure, Brandon finally voiced his question after a moment of distraction.

Listening carefully, one would notice a hint of unusual hoarseness in the man’s usually gentle and pleasant low voice.

“S-sorry…”

Abigail’s chubby face blushed from head to neck, but just as she was about to get up, the door clicked open. She instinctively looked back to see Elder Piers standing stunned at the door, followed by Kelly and the nanny, Aunt Wilde.

This…

Elder Piers looked at his grandson, then at Abigail lying on top of him, raised his cane, “You… What are you… Sigh, nonsense!”

Before he could finish speaking, he sighed abruptly, turned around, and walked out.

Abigail hurried to explain, “Grandfather Piers, let me explain!”

Kelly pressed her temples, following Elder Piers, “Sir, this might be a misunderstanding.”

Only the usually inconspicuous nanny, Aunt Wilde, gave Abigail a resentful look, retreating only when Pullan looked over.

Pullan stood at the back, watching the scene unfold, twitching his mouth several times before bracing himself to explain, “Mr. Piers, I…” I didn’t know this would happen!

Still pinned on the sofa, Brandon pressed his tongue against his molars and asked Abigail, “How long do you plan to stay on top of me?”

Abigail snapped back to reality, quickly stood up, and rushed towards Teddy’s crib, feeling troubled about the huge misunderstanding.

Brandon sighed with relief, then slowly got up and looked at Pullan, who was still stunned at the door. “What, haven’t seen enough?”

“…” Pullan turned and ran.

Finally, he couldn’t help but shake his head. Mr. Piers sure has an unusual taste!
