Chapter 402: Acting as they want

Chapter 402: Acting as they want

The big problem Shane knew about was that he was likely to take a predictable route.

Even if it might be possible to conquer the next few shelters, the races that were likely to be conquered afterward could prepare themselves!

Due to the very same reason, he would have to do exactly what they hoped!

In the beginning, other races wouldn’t care about him because they were not affected.

Only after he conquered the 4th or 5th shelter the other races would notice that something was off when the news of his feat would slowly spread.

Only then would they begin to squirm in fear and hastily rush to prepare themselves!

However, that was something Shane had already included in his plan!

There was no need for him to play around in the next few weeks, and he could simply advance ahead, behaving as everyone would expect.

Because of that, a total of three weeks had passed with each week adding up to one more shelter having been conquered.

The gains Shane and his Conqueror’s received were terrifically high, while their casualties were still nonexistent.

Unfortunately, a few had been gravely injured, decreasing his Elite unit’s combat prowess by a lot but thankfully, there had been no deaths so far.

Conquering the second and third shelter had been as unproblematic as it had been the case with the Destar race’s shelter, and exactly as expected, the rumors on PrimWeb about his unit and the reason for his attacks continued to increase.

Nobody knew of his involvement behind the string of attacks and subsequent conquering of shelters and the human race had yet to receive a warning from another race they were already at war with.

That was if one were to exclude the Dark Ice Elves that seemed to have employed someone to send threatening messages.

When Shane and his elite combat unit had attacked the fourth shelter, the race had already made small preparations in the belief that they could counter Shane’s attack.

Despite that, nobody had known what had been Shane’s strategy while he had attacked the first three shelters, to begin with. As such, they could only prepare themselves inside the shelter, employing elite military units in addition to increasing the number of guards stationed at important points, and scouting the perimeters while giving them better equipment.

Unfortunately, Shane’s attack was once again a surprise because he did not appear with an army of 1000 soldiers behind him, but only by himself.

At the fourth shelter, Shane knew that he had to take a different approach to take them off guard.

However, that was something he had already known for almost weeks since the mission had begun!

Because of that, he had summoned Umbra near the base of the shelter wall, only to order him to coil the end of his long tail around Shane to catapult him straight into the shelter.

While Shane had been thrown high in the air, he had been able to see everything clearly.

As such, he had found the position of the structure that caused the spatial distortion zone almost instantly.

It had to be in an open area and release distinct mana currently.

Owing to that it was not difficult to see.

Once he had found the structure he had been looking for, Shane had already landed on the shelter wall where he was greeted by several dozen opponents.

Yet, instead of finishing them off easily, a translucent portal manifested right next to him followed by several more as his Conqueror unit emerged from the Hidden Paradise.

It didn’t take long before everyone had emerged which allowed Shane to move freely again.

Thus, he didn’t have to restrict his movements for fear of something happening to his unit. Now that they had safely exited the Hidden Paradise he had free reign.

It was unlikely for something to occur because every group consisted of a minimum of four humans with a mana purity of at least [90%], with extremely strong equipment that was, at least, at the [Tier-2 (Extraordinary)] quality, in addition to a weapon at the [Pseudo-Legendary] quality.

Nevertheless, preparing for the worst-case scenarios was also important which was the reason for Shane to tell them every single time that they should drag the fight on or retreat if they were to encounter someone strong, or something were to happen.

Their lives were more important than one or two more opponents that Shane had to fight later.

When Shane had appeared on top of the roof right next to the Spatial distortion zone structure, he threw a high explosive mana Molotov on it before staring at the group of beings that had wanted to attack him at that moment.

Unfortunately, everything had become more difficult for the shelter guards because the destruction of the spatial distortion zone allowed Shane to move more freely!

Thus, he utilized the [Remote use] skill to make use of Cosmo’s [Space Jump] ability, exhausting a large amount of mana as he appeared right behind his opponents.

Fortunately, Shane had the Hidden Paradise, otherwise, his entire stored mana would have been used up by now.

Thanks to his soul bound world, it was now fully refilled and Shane was ready to obliterate his opponents!

Meanwhile, Cosmo conjured a spatial portal once it was possible, allowing both Umbra and Cosmo to emerge within the shelter.

What had followed afterward had been a bloodbath of a night filled with cries of pain, agony, and wrath towards the unknown enemy that had attacked them without reason.

How could they have known that the reason for their shelter having been conquered was an offhanded statement made by their higher-ups on PrimWeb saying that they would attack mankind, in addition to providing some support to other basic races that had destroyed several human shelters in different dimensions?

This might not have been much, but the support had been more than enough to cause great losses to the human race, and the innocent citizens that had done nothing wrong but to live inside the shelter!

Shane was already doing everyone a favor by not massacring the entire population within the shelters he’d conquered but restricting himself to only killing the guards and claiming the spoils of the battle!

Despite successfully conquering a total of four shelters in a row, in only one month at that, Shane felt that the next conquest would definitely go wrong.

As such, he had already planned several things at once, and it was yet another reason why he had sent out his scouts.

There was something special he had wanted to figure out, and it seemed to work perfectly.

Unfortunately, he would have to maintain a low profile once again, while traveling further away, towards shelters nobody would expect him to conquer.

At the same time, this was something Shane utilized to stall time to set his other plans in motion as he had several of them at once.

The next shelter he wanted to attack was the Miac race’s shelter that was a journey of four weeks away.

This may seem like a waste of time, but he had always planned to repay the Dark Ice Elves’ kindness in full and now he finally had the chance to do so.

Furthermore, the shelter directly next to the Miac race, which was at a distance that would take less than two days’ travel, belonged to a race that was in an alliance with the Miac race too.

As such, he could easily conquer two shelters in a matter of five days, at most.

This would leave him with less than a month, but Shane’s plan had already been set in motion, and it was much more time than he required, either way!
