Chapter 88: A Gift for Mia
Chapter 88: A Gift for Mia
"Uhm, Althea what are those daggers made of?" Mel asked as she watched Mia holding the daggers.
"Ohh I made them out of mithril." Thea casually answered.
When the girls heard this they both had different reactions, Mia coughed and tensed up slightly while Mel's eye twitched.
Thea had noticed the reaction and to calm them down, she followed up on what she said previously.
"Ohh don't worry about it, I can raise the type of metal but in order to do that it would take too much time, also at the current moment I enchanted the daggers with some simple enchantments that will help Mia but won't give her an overwhelming advantage so she can still learn and improve." Thea said, seemingly proud of herself.
To this Mel just sighed, Mia on the other hand stayed tensed up and Thea who was sitting close behind her petting her head and scratching her ears could feel this. So she stopped petting her head, then wrapped her hands around her abdomen and drooped her chin on Mia's shoulder, hugging her from behind. Mia was flustered in the beginning, but after a couple of seconds she started enjoying the sensation.
While this was going on, the stone Mia was holding flickered brightly before the original glow completely disappeared. When this happened Thea felt Mia tremble softly and start to breath unevenly.
"Mia?" Thea said softly as her head was practically already next to Mia's, she then inspected the now normal looking stone Mia had dropped.
[High Grade Inspect Stone (Used): When the inspect stone is used, details about the object inspected become known to the user.]
'Hoh, so this is the famous inspect stone. I guess this is how those adventurers find out about the effects of their gear.' Thea logically thought, having some of her existing questions answered.
As Thea was thinking, her attention returned to Mia and how she had just reacted.
"Think of this as a gift for becoming mine, I'll give you something more impressive when you are stronger." Thea whispered as she gently kissed Mia's cheek.
Mia was blushing hard but ended up nodding cutely.
"Perfect! How about we head back now?" Thea said as she stood up and opened a rift leading to the edge of the forest. After all she didn't want to expose all her tricks to the world yet.
After pushing the two girls through the crack in space, they enjoyed their walk back to the city while sharing some small talk.
The trio entered through the noble gate, with Mel accompanying them no questions were asked as everyone seemed to recognize her.
"How does everyone know you?" Mia asked curiously.
"Well I often go around the city to buy things or to go hunt and over a period of time and enough gossip about an Amazonian like me, I guess word just spread around that I work for the Ewald household, for the gate everyone gets a pass and if I'm correct you two will get one tonight." Mel answered.
The trio talked some more and soon arrived at the processing building, after showing their badges and the tasks they had accepted they were led into a large unfurnished room. They were asked to take out the herbs and beasts they had hunted before they were given three slips of paper, one for each mission.
As the trio headed back to the guild, Thea started thinking about something.
'Hmm, I asked and apparently I can sell game I have hunted independently here, I guess I'll have to come back another day and sell the beast corpses I've collected over the years' Thea thought.
On the way back to the guild the sun started setting, Thea looked around the busy street as lampposts were lit. She noticed that there were less children than during the day running around, and as she started looking around, she soon found the reason behind it.
Many people were drinking and walking around unstably while the alleyways became noticeably louder and more difficult to ignore for Thea.
"Give me your adventurer cards and the completion slips you received, I'll go and check them in" Mel suggested as she looked at Thea who was getting redder and more fidgety.
"Thank you Mel." Thea said as she handed everything over.
When they arrived in front of the guild, Mel quickly went inside while Thea and Mia waited outside.
As Thea and Mia waited outside, Thea was thinking of any possible solution to her problem and as she thought her eyes wandered around before the landed on Mia and an idea came to her mind.
'I'm sure there is an enchantment that can help me with this, right?' Thea thought.
She then quickly activated her [Metallurgy] and made a simple ring. As the size of the ring was small, she needed much less mana to craft the necessary object, and thus she could use the same amount of mana but would require much less time to make a small glob of mithril again.
She then formed the glob into a simple ring and quickly looked in the list of enchantments.
Thea browsed for a few minutes and when a nearby couple started moaning loudly her concentration further worsened, but it didn't matter anymore as she had found the enchantment she needed.
[Mental Tranquility]
Without inspecting the enchantment she added it onto the ring and quickly put the ring on her finger.
As she did, the uncomfortable warmth in her body disappeared, her breathing which had become uneven returned to its steady tempo and her rapidly beating heart calmed down.
When Thea was fully focused again she inspected the ring she made.
[Ring]
[Type: Mental]
[Grade: A]

[Effect: Mental Tranquility (Calms the users mind and allows the user to think clearly.)]
'*Fuuu* Well problem solved.' Thea thought to herself as she looked at the couple loudly moaning in an alleyway close to her.
