Chapter 86: Metallurgy
Chapter 86: Metallurgy
Thea and Mia had accepted 2 F-rank quests and 1 E-rank quest. They had to gather 10 Miceah herbs, something used in simple alchemy recipes, subjugate 5 Berserk Boars and 5 Red Wolves. Although the quest wasn't difficult, Thea had slowed down so she could run next to Mia and Mel.
As the beasts they were hunting were weak, Thea basically let Mia do most of the work as the experience earned would help her more than herself. When Mia had hunted the last Red Wolf, she leveled up.
During this time Thea didn't slack off either, she had used her map to ping the herbs when they were in view, this way when Mia had finished hunting all the beasts, Thea had gathered many times the amount they needed.
"Let's eat something before we head back." Thea said, lighting a fire as she looked at a tired cat-girl before looking at the sun, guessing it to be around 4-5 pm judging from its position in the sky.
"Yay." Mia impulsively said, knowing that she would get some food that Thea made.
"Uhm, Althea maybe I should cook?" Mel asked. Although she didn't speak in the way a servant would, she still found it 'wrong' for Thea to cook when a servant like her was accompanying her.
"Ohh don't worry about it, just sit down." Thea responded in a lax manner.
Thea then began preparing some horned rabbit skewers covered in a glaze. As Thea made the food, she thought back to how Mel delt with the beasts, one thing she had noticed was that Mia was still using her [Shadow Dagger] skill. Although she wasn't having any issues now except of looking exhausted, if she met a stronger opponent her daggers would become pretty inefficient.
As Thea thought about this, she suddenly came up with a good idea.
"Mia, if you had to choose between daggers or a blade as a weapon, which would you prefer?" Thea asked curiously.
Not thinking too much about the reason behind Thea's question, Mia thought about it and quickly answered.
"I think I would prefer daggers. I'm already at the second stage of dagger mastery so if I didn't always need to make daggers it would come in handy." Mia said.
"Alright, I'll see if I can make you something." Thea said.
"Thanks, wait what?" Mia asked in confusion.
"Well would you look at that, the skewers are ready. Everyone has two each so don't take anyone else's." Thea said glibly.
Mia who was questioningly staring at Thea lost all concentration and snatched two skewers, hiding them from the other two girls.
Mel who saw this looked strangely at Mia before she picked up a skewer and took a small bite, but when she did her attitude soon changed and she followed Mia's example.
Thea chuckled at the sight and picked up one of her skewers, as she ate she started playing with her [Metallurgy] skill.
The skill didn't take or control metal from the surroundings, but made metal from mana. As Thea played with her skill she poured out tremendous amounts of mana that even the other girls could notice.
In the beginning it was just a 15 cm in diameter glob of copper but as more mana poured into it, it changed into iron, a while later it turned darker and after almost 10 minutes it became almost an almost white glob of liquid metal.
At this point Thea stopped adding metal as she could feel that if she went any further, it would take too long and become too powerful, but instinctually, she knew this wasn't the limit.
Curiously Thea inspected the white glob of floating metal floating above her hand.
[Mithril: An extremely light metal many times stronger than Black Iron, has good mana conductivity.]
' The typical fantasy metal has resurfaced!' Thea thought as she observed the solid globe of metal.
'Hmm, so if I stop controlling it, it becomes solid in the last shape it was in Anyways, 1/3 of the process complete.' Thea thought as she started controlling and moving the metal around again.
From the round shape it originally had, it became longer and thinner before it was about 45 cm long and 4 cm thick. Thea then made one side shaper and flatter while the other side she left round and thicker.
After about a minute of tweaking the glob had transformed into a thick dagger, Thea then split it in two, rounded the handles, made the blades slightly curved, thinner than what it was before and added some little details before she was finally left with 2 scary white daggers.
As Thea looked at the daggers she was happy with the result but wasn't satisfied yet. After thinking for a moment, she realized what was missing.
She extended two strands of hair before she made the lower half wide and flat, she used all her focus and started splitting the molecules of her hair to the point that the lower half simple dropped off.
That's right, to be able to cut Thea's hair, Thea had to split her own hair molecules so the lower half and top half wouldn't be one anymore.
Thea sighed out, this process was extremely taxing on her mind as it wasn't the easiest thing to do.
She then picked up her two long, thick and flat hair strands and tied them around the grip of the handles. Thea then controlled the metal to cover the ends of the hair strands so the DIY grip wouldn't loosen.
Of course Thea had her [Goddess's Delicate Hands] so the dexterous craft became child's play and she was left with two weapons no one else on the planet would be able to craft.
Thea then activated her [Enchantment Talent] and browsed through the different enchantments before narrowing down her choice to 3 options.
