Chapter 159: Other Enemies
When they were done, they left immediately. Not because they immediately wanted to leave, but because Ella and her young boyfriend came over again.
They seemed to have started making the warehouse their room.
If they continued to be uncontrollable, they would probably be discovered in the near future.
There was still one more class for David and Jane, so they spent more time at the university.
They only left the university in the late afternoon.
Together with Lisa, they went to the outskirts of the city, which was an elite area because there were many large mansions standing alone on large land.
Through the tracking device that Jane had installed on Lancelot's body, they learned that Lancelot was at his mansion.
About 700 meters away from the mansion, there was a large hill. The hill had no road, so it had to be climbed.
David and Jane climbed the hill and left Lisa at the bottom. They planned to attack from there. For now, they wanted to keep an eye on Lancelot first, like to find out if he brought anyone else in his plan.
Since the hill had a few trees, it was easier for David and Jane to keep an eye out without getting caught. They stood on a tree branch, watching the mansion.
It just so happened that not long after they got there, Lancelot came out of the mansion. He wasn't even alone, he was with Oliver, a 30-year-old man who had come to interrupt David and Jane's engagement party.
Despite being older than Lancelot, Oliver actually seemed polite to him, even walking slightly behind him.
However, the two stopped on the terrace of the mansion, looking towards the street outside, seemingly waiting for someone.
"It seems that he's really asking for someone else's help," Jane said. "Maybe he's also not a hundred percent confident because I'm always by your side."
"Yeah..." David thought so too.
Sure enough, just a few moments later, a car arrived. It wasn't a fancy car, but it might have been fancy in the past because it was an old one.
David had trouble seeing inside the car because the glass was so dark, but he guessed there were two people inside.
The car headed straight for the terrace, stopping in front of it.
When the door opened, a middle-aged man got out of the driver's seat. He wore a long white robe and carried a cane.
"Someone from the Vatican again," Jane said suddenly.
David rolled his eyes at that, not expecting that the one called by Lancelot was someone from the Vatican.
However, given that the Vatican was hunting him, it wouldn't be difficult for Lancelot to invite them to cooperate.
What surprised David was the second person who got out of the car. It was a woman, still quite young, perhaps the same age as him.
She was beautiful and striking with long blonde hair that was quite bright.
Her appearance was very demure, wearing a pure white robe.
She looked like a religious woman who seemed to be very devout.
After staring at her for a while, David somehow felt that the woman was familiar.
He felt like he had seen her somewhere before.
"Who is that woman?" David asked Jane, which instantly earned him a glare from the woman even if it was only for a moment.
"The Holy Woman from the Vatican, she always appears in the annual event," Jane replied.
After hearing that, David finally realized why he felt the woman was familiar.
He had indeed seen her on tv and on the internet in passing.
As far as he knew, there was one woman who was given the title of Holy Woman in the Vatican once every five years.
David felt it was only symbolic, but obviously someone who earned the title was very extraordinary.
The middle-aged man and woman approached Lancelot and Oliver, after a short talk, they were invited into the mansion.
However, even though they had entered, Lancelot and Oliver were still standing on the terrace. It seemed that they were waiting for someone else.
David was surprised not long after as the so-called Holy Woman, Charlotte suddenly appeared on one of the mansion's balconies.
The problem was that the impression she gave was instantly different.
Her expression no longer looked like she was constantly brooding. She now looked very relaxed while in her hand was a full bottle of wine.
She was also holding a small bluetooth headset and a cell phone.
There was a lounge chair on the balcony, she sat on it and lifted her legs until they were both out of her robe.
After putting the headset on her ears, she opened the wine bottle and drank directly from it, seemingly enjoying it so much that her neck and cheeks were flushed.
Her head swayed lightly, like she was enjoying the music she was hearing.
"What the hell is this woman?" said David with an expression like he didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
"No need to be surprised, the Vatican is full of people with two faces," Jane replied.
David laughed at that, but it was true, they always seemed polite when on camera, but all the ones he had met lately were very rude.
None of them seemed religious.
What he saw now might be the true nature of Charlotte that she had to hide constantly. Here, without the public eye, she could behave like that. Perhaps she was also not so worried if she was seen by Lancelot or Oliver because both of them knew well the things that were hidden behind the scenes.
"Mm!" David's eyes were drawn to the road again as another car arrived. This time, it was a red BMW of the latest series.
David couldn't estimate the number of people inside because the glass was too extremely dark.
However, he felt a sense of threat just by looking at the car. Even Jane knitted her eyebrows.
When the car stopped in front of the terrace, all four doors opened simultaneously, indicating that the car contained four people.
They consisted of one old man, two middle-aged men, and one young man.
The menacing aura seemed to come from the old man. David wasn't interested in the other three men.
Despite looking very old, the old man still gave off a dashing impression.
"Head of the Todorova Family, Boris," said Jane.
"What family is that?" asked David as the family name was very unfamiliar to him.
"Boris was fortunate to have access to spiritual powers," Jane replied. "And he developed so well that his descendants can also become spiritual beings. They developed power in Bulgaria. Even controlling politics behind the scenes."
"So he's kind of a pioneer?" said David.
"Yeah, and he's pretty strong. I'm sure Lancelot wanted that old man and the other three to block me while he and those two from the Vatican would attack you. I must admit he was well prepared and planned despite his impulsive nature," Jane said.
"This means he is very serious about killing me, I will also kill him if the opportunity arises," said David.
His eyes became cold.
"If you kill him, the next problem that comes will be more difficult," Jane replied with a faint smile, reminding David who Lancelot was.
The young man was from the Rothschild Family. That meant he still had a family that would be very angry if he was killed.
"I don't care. This is the enmity that fate intended," David replied, showing no concern at all.
"I will support you," Jane said, showing an expression of love.
They seemed to be bound by the strongest destiny. Jane was ready to support David against anyone.
"It seems like it's just them," Jane continued because when Lancelot invited Boris into the mansion, he and Oliver also entered with them.
On the other hand, Charlotte was still busy having fun on the balcony.
Observing her was quite fun for David.
Apparently, she started watching a video.
From afar, it wasn't clear, but David saw a white color dominating her phone screen.
When he wondered what it was, David rolled his eyes.
He felt like coughing, even wanted to throw a rock at that balcony.
That woman was really immoral.
Even though her behavior was normal for a normal human when she was alone, it still didn't seem to fit her because she had always shown a chaste appearance, and her own title was holy woman.
David thought for a while and finally took out his cell phone.
He planned to record her actions. Although they were quite far away, his cell phone had a zoom feature of up to 120 times. Even what the woman was watching would be clearly visible.
Jane rolled her eyes at David's actions, but he just let him be.
Through his cell phone that was recording the video, it became clear what Charlotte was watching.
It was a blue Asian movie, in a doggy style position.
David was worried that it would damage Jane's eyes if she peeked into his cell phone, so he only recorded for a while.
Later, he can show it to the Holy Woman if she dares to bother him.
