Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Beneath the Waterfall
"Haha, who cares if it's a palace of immortals or not, with the spiritual light soaring into the sky, there must be treasures emerging. I plan to go there myself," Mang Biao laughed and said.
"Island Master, let me accompany you. As for the other brothers, they can stay here to construct the palace. If their cultivation is too low, they won't be of any help if they go, and they might even suffer casualties in the face of danger," Tang Long pondered and said.
"No!" Mang Biao glanced at Yang Ji and transmitted his voice, "You don't go. Among all the brothers, you're the most astute. You stay on the island and keep an eye on the Second Master of the Island for me."
"I want to go!" Yang Ji suddenly raised his head, his gaze filled with determination.
"You want to go?" Mang Biao was startled, then he laughed and said, "My dear brother, you don't have to go. Your cultivation is still too low, and the situation there hasn't been ascertained yet. If you rush over and encounter danger, that would be troublesome.
Opportunities aren't so easy to come by, you just stay safely on the island, and if I obtain any treasures, naturally you'll have your share."
"No, this time I want to go!" Yang Ji's eyes were resolute as he spoke with a rare sternness in his tone.
With the Golden Finger that could see through everything, he wasn't afraid of any fixed danger.
Humanoid Weapons were too important; if the second scroll lay beneath that sudden sea waterfall, he had to try no matter what.
Mang Biao was seeing Yang Ji's serious expression for the first time. His eyes flickered slightly, and inwardly he resisted, [If you go and something happens, what would I do? I'm still counting on you to heal me.]
He chuckled dryly and coaxed, "My dear brother, you don't have to go. Don't you trust my strength? Whatever treasure you want, I'll bring them back to you."
"If you don't let me go, then you can forget about ever asking me to heal you again," Yang Ji looked up and said indifferently.
It was precisely this detached expression that made Mang Biao's hair stand on end.
"Go, go, go!" Mang Biao's heart jolted, and he nodded repeatedly, "But you have to stay by my side, so I can protect you."
"Okay." Yang Ji took a deep breath and nodded. That would be best.
"Island Master, what about me?" Tang Long looked at Yang Ji and asked.
"Then you come with me too, and also call up three Foundation Establishment brothers; we'll set off immediately," Mang Biao ordered briskly, actually worried that someone else might get to the treasure before him and take it all.
Upon his command, Tang Long immediately called three Foundation Establishment hall masters.
Once everyone had gathered, Mang Biao grabbed Yang Ji and soared into the sky.
The group of six hastened toward Wangmeng Island.
After flying for a day and night, they finally saw Wangmeng Island at dawn of the second day.
They also spotted from a distance the sea waterfall formed by the high-rising sea bedrock layer.
It was unbelievable to see this "thousand-feet torrent cascading down" spectacular sight in the depths of the ocean.
Yang Ji and the rest could clearly see from the air that the waterfall was flanked by steep cliffs stretching three thousand zhang wide, with a chasm as deep as ten thousand zhang.
Bursts of spiritual light surged from within, illuminating the vicinity of Wangmeng Island in a hallowed white glow.
The sea water from all directions poured down following the spiritual light, seemingly obstructed by some force, creating endless white spray as it was strangled.
Above the waterfall, many figures hovered in the air, packed densely like locusts, probably a good portion of the cultivators from the Yaxiang Sea had come over.
"Chan Guan of Luoyun Island, Qing Yuan of Qingfeng Island, Liu Duanqing of Lihen Island, these guys are still here. Luckily we made it in time."
Seeing this scene, Mang Biao patted his chest and breathed a sigh of relief, as if the treasures were secured.
At the same time, he was slightly puzzled in his heart, why hasn't everyone started to move even after so many days?
Still watching?
Seeing this, Mang Biao flew up with Yang Ji to the side of an elderly Taoist, clad in a purple robe, with a whisk in one hand and his white beard in the other, looking amiable and carrying a faint smile, as if he were an enlightened sage.
"Chan Guan, what's the situation now? Why haven't you all taken action yet?" Mang Biao spoke with casual indifference.
"Ah, it's Daoist Mang." The old Taoist responded with a gentle and polite smile, pointing to the waterfall below, "The spiritual light there soars to the skies, and a mysterious strangling force is present, making it impossible for anyone to fly down."
"Can't even those three over there make it down?" Mang Biao slightly jutted his lips forward.
"They can't either!" Chan Guan shook his head.
Yang Ji followed their gazes and saw three cultivators, each overflowing with spiritual energy and exuding an immense authority.
The middle-aged cultivator on the left had a robust build, half of his body showing knotted muscles and the other half covered in battle armor, both shrouded in a swirling yellow glow, exuding sheer dominance.
The elderly man on the right had fiery red hair, wore a red robe, with eyes like burning flames, and exuded a majestic demeanor. Under his feet, a sphere of flames flickered continuously, like a constant star, indefinitely radiating scorching heat.
As for the elder in the center, he appeared much more ordinary, wearing a simple white robe and having a common appearance, yet his brows concealed a sharp presence.
Just a few glances was all it took for Yang Ji to feel a breath-holding pressure emanating from the superior aura and absolute power of these figures.
Too strong, their mere presence is enough to instill fear in the hearts of others.
These three were undoubtedly Nascent Soul True Monarchs.
Upon noticing Yang Ji's slightly intimidated gaze, Mang Biao chuckled and said, "The one on the left is True Monarch Nan Kui of the Nanyuan Sect, on the right is True Monarch of the Changqing Sect with his fiery red aura, and the one in the middle is True Monarch Ling Gu of the Canglan Sect.
They are the guardians of the largest three islands in the Demon Scent Sea region, and I did not expect all of them to be here."
"Moreover, a good number of masters from the Seven Gangs and Eighteen Assemblies have also arrived. Make sure to stick close to me when we go down later."
Following Mang Biao's gaze, Yang Ji also spotted numerous formidable Golden Core True Persons in the sky and nodded in agreement.
"The spiritual light is fading," Yang Ji pointed at the waterfall, noticing that the white spray had diminished and the spiritual light was rapidly contracting.
"Now is the moment!" the three Nascent Soul True Monarchs suddenly shouted, transforming into streaks of light, closely following the contracting spiritual light in hopes that it would lead them to the treasures.
"Haha, let's go!" With the Nascent Soul True Monarchs paving the way, dozens of Golden Core True Persons turned into beams of light and followed suit.
"Daoist Mang, let us proceed," said Chan Guan with a smile, waving his whisk and flying towards the waterfall.
"Young brother Yang, let's go!" Mang Biao took Yang Ji and, wrapped up in a whirling force, thundered deep into the waterfall.
Everyone moved with extreme speed, diving straight down five thousand zhang through the fissure. As various pieces of information flashed through Yang Ji's eyes and just as he caught a glimpse of the remnant spatial restrictions that had been severely damaged by the earthquake, he heard a 'poof' sound – Mang Biao had already broken through the restrictions, leading the way in.
The scene before their eyes shifted dramatically, and when it finally stabilized, they had all arrived at an underground world.
At first glance, the sight before them was quite fantastical.
Expecting a dark, dank underworld, what they found instead was a place awash with light.
Blue grass emitting a glowing light was everywhere, colorful mushrooms as tall as three adults were sprinkled around, insects resembling jellyfish twinkled in the vast space above, and various plants with sturdy, twisted roots stood like ancient trees of millennia.
The scene before their eyes was like a fantasy wonderland, astonishingly beautiful.
