Chapter 99: Disposable
99 99 - Disposable
But contrary to my expectations, as if the boy had eyes on the back of his head, he takes a step to the left, dodging my hand as if it were something completely natural, and not an attack from a Blessed Rank D.
Seeing him swerve in such a way has made me a little doubtful, but I don't believe that a boy who has been bullied for so long can pose any real level of threat to me.
So right after that, taking advantage of the fact that he still had his back to me, I used more energy in my strength-boosting Blessing and with an open hand I tried again to hold his shoulder. But just like before, he just took a step to the other side and dodged my attack as if he were precisely seeing the trajectory.
This time I couldn't ignore his avoidance as if it was nothing big. This kid isn't definitely no big deal; in fact this kid is more powerful than I thought.
My danger instinct was starting to send me signals, but if he was facing me I might even worry, but he was still on his back, so the advantage is still mine.
So that he wouldn't deflect, this time I decided to give a full kick to my Blessing. I already gave up on controlling this boy the moment he dodged my second attack with his back to me effortlessly.
Strangely, even if a kick was much more difficult to deflect and I was sure I was going to hit the attack, my instincts screamed in my ears to retract that kick, otherwise something very bad would happen to me.
I always trusted my instincts, and even without understanding what danger this boy with his back still open to me posed, I retracted my kick trying to deflect so as not to hit the boy.
As soon as my leg passed close to him, because I forced myself to deviate from the trajectory, again, as if he had eyes on his back, in a quick movement he pulled a strange dagger from one of the tactical pockets he was using and pointed that dagger exactly to the point that I was aiming with my kick. Seeing that, I was stunned.
It wasn't making sense to me how this boy was able to dodge my attacks even though his back was turned, especially now that he was even counter-attacking with the dagger he drew. He's doing all of this without looking at me once, strangely knowing exactly where I would attack.
I had not brought a gun with me, because I believed it would be an easy job as a higher-ranking Blessed Rank D, to intimidate a miserable Blessed Rank E, but I realized that I was completely wrong after seeing how this boy fought.
But apparently he wouldn't let me back so easily, since strangely he also realized that I was backing off and started to walk backwards while turning to me and looking at me with those cold eyes, eyes that I definitely knew.
I came to teach him how to look like someone who didn't mind taking someone else's life, but apparently this boy already knew what that was like, since he saw that look in the mirror every day.
The dagger in his hand was cutting in directions from which I had never been attacked before; it was as if he could read my body and see exactly where I was most vulnerable. If my strength and agility were not superior to his, maybe I would have already been sliced ??to pieces now and I wouldn't even have the right to complain.
"Wait, wait! Your uncle won't be happy if I die here and might send someone more powerful," I said with a slight note of fear in my voice.
What I said was true. If he killed me here, I'm sure my boss would be very angry and spend a fortune to hire a Blessed Rank C.
Hiring Blessed Rank D is expensive, but it is not impossible. But there are few Blessed Rank C in the city. To find one who is willing to do a dirty job like this, my boss would have to look in bigger cities, but this is something I don't doubt he would do when angry.
And of course, the main reason I say this is that I don't want to die, given that this kid had already killed a blessed rank and killing me here now in cold blood wouldn't make any difference to him. Not to mention that I could see through those eyes of his that he kind of wanted to kill me. I don't know why, since he wouldn't gain anything from my death, but for some reason I saw that he anticipated that one of those stabs would hit me so that I would die, and it fucking scared me.
"And who says I care who my uncle is going to send to their death next?" The boy said to me in a cold voice as I slowly felt my movements being restricted by a mysterious force.
Shit! This boy has a Space Blessing? Goddammit, why did they tell me he had a Fire Blessing? What is preventing my movements can only be a Space Blessing! If this is true, I'm fucked, and so is my boss, since Blessed with Space Blessings, are extremely valued by big shots for being able to exercise a greater power than the Blessing they had.
I need to think of something to convince this boy not to kill me.
"Wait, wait! I can help you!" I screamed desperately, feeling that because of those restrictions it was getting more and more difficult to dodge those stabs of his. I felt like I was moving under water, being restricted by walls of water that came from all sides.
Hearing what I said, the boy didn't even blink and continued to attack me while he spoke without emotion. "Really? And what does someone disposable like you have to offer me?"
Disposable? Since when am I disposable?! I am a Blessed Rank D, one of the few Blessed Rank D in the city Eyrin! If someone told me that Blessed Rank D are disposable, I would laugh in the person's face, but whoever was saying that was acting proud in front of me and I didn't even have the power to fight back.
It's true… If he is so powerful, it shouldn't be difficult for him to find another Blessed Rank D, since he must be used to dealing with Blessed Ones of even higher rank... Damn ... what is sort of shit did I step in today? Motherfucking boss!
"I know things about your uncle that can help you!" I screamed desperately after feeling the tip of the blade cutting a thin line across my cheek, causing some blood to splash on the sidewalk and let me understand that he was truly trying to kill me. That stab only made such a shallow cut because at the last moment I managed to dodge it. If it weren't for that, he would definitely have stuck the dagger in my head without any consideration. What monster is it that doesn't care about human lives like that? It's like he just sees me as a bunch of points he would earn in a game, and that feeling really sucks.
But luckily, when he heard what I said, I finally saw his face change from a bored and disinterested look, which just saw me as a future corpse, to one that found me to be something interesting, something of value! That was exactly what I wanted. I knew how much he and my boss hated each other. If I could say anything to him, when I told my boss about his ability, he would definitely bring someone to kill this boy soon.
But unfortunately, the expression he made next made me a little scared, since for a second he looked a bit something like... the Devil.
