Chapter 88: Necro-Boss 3
88 88 - Necro-Boss 3
---
Noah was dodging the boss naturally as he had been doing a few minutes ago, but when one of his flames finished burning one of the smaller monsters, a window appeared floating in front of him. The only thing Noah was able to read from the window was Lilith's name, before he felt a great pain coming from his wrist, a pain so colossal that it couldn't compare to any pain he has ever felt before, as if he had lost his arm.
When looking at his wrist, Noah saw that Lilith, who had previously been sleeping wrapped around his wrist, was now clearly waking up with her fangs stuck in his skin. The idea that Lilith was had betrayed him and wanted to kill him right now didn't even cross Noah's mind since they had been living together for two weeks, living together almost 24 hours a day right next to each other, not to mention the contract they had that prevented one from harming the other. So the only thing Noah thought was that Lilith had leveled up and that biting him was necessary for something.
Unfortunately he was in so much pain that he couldn't focus on teleporting to another place and getting out of the Boss's way. The only thing he did was try to control the scream while he saw the boss running at him like crazy with bloodthirsty red eyes.
At some point, everything slowed down and Noah thought he was going to die, but he began to realize that time was no longer flowing properly, as the Blessed others were still moving at the same speed. But strangely for Noah, whenever he looked at the Boss he noticed that with each step the Boss would slow down, until he finally stopped completely in place.
Seeing what was happening to the Boss, Noah resisted the pain he was feeling and got up from the ground with the dagger he had received from the Fortress in his hand which wasn't throbbing like hell and slowly because of the pain he walked towards the boss.
The Boss who was frozen in place still managed to move his eyes. Noah's every move did not go unnoticed by the big monster that watched the human come towards him while he was prevented from moving because of some unknown force.
Noah didn't care what the Boss was thinking at the time and raised the dagger. Using the same strategy he had used to deal with the little monsters, Noah stuck the dagger in both of the Boss's eyes. The boss still couldn't move, nor cry out in pain when he felt both of his widened eyes being pierced. Taking advantage of the fact that the Boss was immobile, Noah added two balls of flame to purify his eyes even from a distance.
Even though they didn't understand what had just happened, because they were used to dealing with Noah who was doing strange things all the time, they reacted quickly and attacked the frantic Boss with everything they had, taking advantage of the fact he couldn't see to avoid his attacks. Killing the Boss after that was like a walk in the park, as the only thing they needed to do was attack since the Boss would not be able to actively dodge attacks anymore.
As soon as the Boss died, the zombie monsters fell to the ground as corpses once again, but the humans did not care and totally disemboweled the bodies of these monsters, both as revenge and as a guarantee that they would not get up again.
As soon as the battle was over, the group's healer ran to Noah and asked if everything was okay with him. Noah looked at Lilith for a second before turning to the healer and making sure not to yell at her.
"I'm... well... You can... help him..." Noah said as he nodded at BigBull who had a badly bloodied shin. Seeing that Noah was fine, the healer ran to BigBull and went to give him first aid.
While Noah was sitting on the floor with his eyes closed, controlling himself not to cry out in pain, he felt Lilith was trying to mentally say something to him, but her voice was very low.
"Noah ... ..... ... ... ... ... ... ...."
The only thing Noah could hear that she had said was his name, the rest was very low and whispered. He had to concentrate a lot to start to understand what it was.
"Noah, please burn me..."
After a few attempts Noah finally understood what Lilith was trying to say, but he didn't know if what he heard was correct. When he opened his eyes and saw that Lilith was looking him in the eye, he said to her mentally, "Are you sure?"
Lilith did not respond verbally, but Noah saw by her expression and the slight shake she gave in her head positively that she was confirming this. Noah, still hesitating, invoked a small ball of flame and led it slowly towards Lilith. She was not trying to avoid the flames; quite the contrary, the snake was practically moving towards the flames trying to be hit by it.
When Noah fell to the ground, the Blessed others came close to see how he was doing, but he was not answering anyone. Since Noah was apparently not dying, with a big cut, they just watched from afar as he wriggled his body and made expressions of pain.
"Guys, did he always have a snake on his wrist?" Jasper asked curiously.
Hearing Jasper's question, the other Blessed looked at Noah's wrist and saw a small black snake biting him the. Strangely, they did not find the sight of that snake there as something strange. In fact it seemed very familiar to them for some reason, as if it was actually always there and they had just never noticed.
"I don't know... I feel like I always saw her there, but I never realized it," Marcel commented with his hand on his chin as he analyzed the situation.
A Blessed middle-aged woman looked at the snake and spoke, "If I'm not mistaken, a black bracelet has always been on his wrist. Could it be that all this time, instead of a bracelet he was carrying a snake?"
Hearing what she said, the other Blessed remembered that at times when they had invaded Fortresses together, they had noticed a black bracelet around Noah's wrist. As Noah was always a very practical person, not caring about appearance but practicality when he was in a Fortress, seeing him always with a black bracelet caught the attention of the people in the group, but they just thought it was some kind of family heirloom or something.
But on seeing that strange snake that they thought was a bracelet now biting Noah's wrist, the woman approached Noah, thinking of taking the snake off his wrist, but the closer she got to the snake, the more her inner instinct screamed at her to get away.
The woman had never felt this before, not even when she had fought the Boss that almost took her life a few minutes ago. But against this little snake, had she strangely felt such a danger that she even believed she could die for a few seconds? Seeing her withdraw her hand with fright, the other Blessed looked at her with strange gazes and asked what happened in a worried manner.
Suddenly, Noah opened his eyes, and in front of his eyes, a familiar black status window was floating, but instead of being the window with his status, the window was actually showing him Lilith's status.
