Chapter 87: Necro-Boss 2
87 87 - Necro-Boss 2
---
[Congratulations user! Your [Hell Tunneling] skill has risen to level 02.]
Seeing the warning, Noah was delighted. This battle was heading toward being impossible; the only thing that could possibly aide them to kill this Boss without anyone dying would be a big turn of events, and the ability to level up was exactly the sort of turn of events that Noah had wanted.
[User: Noah Stern
Level: 03, 131/1600 exp
HP: 14/14
Strength: 14
Agility: 14
Stamina: 14
Skills:
(Hell Flames Lv 03, 104/2500 exp: A technique that consists of invoking the flames of hell itself. The flames of hell did not differ from normal flames, but after purifying so many sins and so many sinners, it became the most powerful flame, having even burned the flame god himself, making him beg Lucifer to extinguish the flames before he died. To increase the power of Hell Flames ability, the user must burn sins or sinners.
\\ * \\ * After reaching Lv 03 the user's body adapted better to the flame and control over it became even more natural, in addition to making it possible to purify humans corroded by sin. The greater the sin of a human, the greater the benefits. \\ * \\ *)
(Hell Tunneling Lv 02, 0/1500 exp: A technique that consists of opening a tunnel to hell and leaving somewhere else in a fraction of a second. The greater the distance, the greater the energy used.
Hell has harbored the souls of sinners since the beginning of time for all eternity, and to support the great number of demons and souls, the area there is many times more expanded than the world of the living. Whenever Lucifer passed through these tunnels, people assumed he was teleporting.
\\ * \\ * After reaching Lv 02, the user learned to reduce the cost of each teleportation, in addition to improving activation speed. As the user has used the ability to move spatially so often, the user partially received a spatial perception even with his eyes closed.)]
As soon as Noah's skill evolved, he had already started to practically see in 360o, and even during the teleportation movement he always knew where he was and where the ground was.
The distance he could see with his new spatial perception was no more than a few centimeters around him, but that alone was enough to give Noah enough reaction time to dodge a punch or stab with his teleportation. That is, Noah practically received a 360° view that warned him whether he should teleport away or not.
With the new skill he just acquired, Noah was confident at least not to die against the Boss. Not to mention that with the price for each teleportation reduced, Noah was certain that he could keep the Boss's attention on himself while the other Blessed launched attacks on it.
Fortunately, he was not alone in the Fortress. When Noah did not know what to do, the other Blessed rushed to the smaller monsters to finish them off and not overwhelm Noah. They knew they were just going to be a hindrance in the fight against the Boss for Noah, so instead of hindering Noah by having to save everyone who got headbutted, they thought it best to hold back the weaker monsters so they wouldn't attack the backline, much less hinder Noah.
Seeing the warriors turn their attention toward the weaker monsters, Noah had a bad feeling and looked at the mountain of dwarf corpses for fear that they too would become zombies, but luckily they had not been resurrected like the monsters.
The Boss didn't let Noah continue to think as he ran towards him, roaring with rage. At least this roar reminded Noah to pay attention to the Boss and create openings for the backline to attack the Boss with spells and arrows. Even Jasper was running and alternating between attacking the Boss and the smaller monsters with his high speed, but the Boss's attention never left Noah, as if this human was his sworn enemy.
Unfortunately, even with the battle going on like this, Noah couldn't see how they were going to beat such a powerful monster. He was so agile that Noah had no confidence in attacking him using melee. All he managed was to cast a few spells from afar, since his agility was nowhere near Jasper's.
Gradually, as the battle progressed, the Boss's body had become more and more on fire. Noah was feeling like a bullfighter from the dark time of humanity hundreds of years ago. Even though there were no more bullfights in human civilization, culture and memes about it still continued today. Noah heard that the descendants of the people of the place called Spain even created electronic bulls to continue bullfighting, but he was never interested enough to search. But even so, because of how much he heard in ancient culture classes when young, Noah felt like shouting "oléé" every time the Boss passed him.
But unfortunately, even though they spent several minutes attacking the Boss, it didn't make him weaker in any way. The creature's skin was so thick that Noah's flames had a hard time penetrating it to really cause some damage. After the first time, the Boss did not open his mouth close to Noah again so as not to risk swallowing more of that unbearable flame.
Noah could see from a distance that the archers and wizards were getting exhausted from attacking without stopping, not to mention that whenever the normal monsters died, the Boss screamed and they revived. Even if their heads were severed, the monsters would come together again and the corpse would attack the humans again. This forced Noah to burn the corpses of the smaller monsters while they were still alive so that they could not recover from the Boss, since at least with Noah's flame they were unable to recover the purified parts.
But in this battle, no one was well. The wizards were exhausted, Jasper was getting exhausted, the warriors were heavily wounded by the smaller monsters, and Noah was wet with sweat because of the effort he was making to deal with this Boss.
The battle went on like this, and little by little, the monsters were unable to come back to life because of Noah's flames, but this continued to wear on the humans at a much greater rate than this was wearing on the Boss.
Noah's forehead was soaked with sweat. 'Can't we do anything...? I won't be able to deal with this Boss alone. If the other warriors could help me I could concentrate more on burning him, but being practically the only melee fighter attacking him, I don't know if I will be able to deal with it much longer,' Noah thought, finally despairing. It had never crossed his mind that he could actually die in this Fortress, but now it really seemed like an option. If his team started to die, Noah would have to risk everything to escape to the entrance by teleporting and hoping that the portal was open, but given how abnormal this Fortress was, Noah doubted that the portal would be waiting open for them to go though.
"Aaaaarrrrghhhh!!!" BigBull screamed while feeling his leg hurt like never before. When he looked down, BigBull saw that one of the monster zombies had been revived again and had bitten his shin so hard using its teeth capable of grinding the bones of the dwarfs that it almost managed to pull BigBull's leg off if he hadn't reacted so quickly.
BigBull's scream destabilized the group a little, as they never had before had much difficulty in dealing with Fortresses together. Seeing one of their group being so severely wounded made the Blessed begin to doubt their chances of success. At the moment, the only thing that kept them fighting was a sound that had never stopped to rest since the battle started.
*Bamf*
That noise of Noah's explosions when he teleported back and forth was what kept the team still engaged in fighting the monsters. Since Noah had already taken such a deep root in their minds that he was always able to deal with the impossible situations that they came across, the group began to believe that as long as Noah was well, he would find a way to handle the battle and bring victory to them.
But to the group's dismay, another cry came.
"Arrrrgghhh!!!"
But this time, the scream was one they didn't expect to scream like that ever. In the middle of the room, the one who had constantly avoided the Boss's attacks without difficulty, sometimes even showing that he was having fun as if he could do it all day, Noah was kneeling on the floor while screaming in pain, holding his wrist as if something had bitten him and he had lost his hand from that bite.
